This tutorial was explained very well! I'd always had a problem trying to getting my " angular perspectives //vanishing points" when it comes to certain subjects ! This guy here goes into a lot of detail! He's very good artist!

Hi Mat I enjoyed last night livestream and did order the book recommended by Ashley and would live any other recommendations for book on colour theory or on silver point drawing. Mat can you use water soluble oils and oil pastel combine in one work of art?

Love these videos! The questions did raise another question for me...what is the difference between egg tempera and casein?

The difference is in the binders (what holds the pigment powder together and adheres the paint to the paper) for these two paints. Egg tempera uses egg yolk as the binder for the pigment, while casein uses the protein in milk to bind pigment. Binders across paint media will result in different handling and finishes. So, for example, watercolor & gouache are water-soluble and non-waterproof due to the gum arabic or honey binders and acrylic is water-resistant and plasticky in handling due to its plastic polymer binder and oil is creamy in handling and water-resistant due to the linseed oil binder. Likewise, casein and egg tempera both have a water-resistant finish after they dry and cure, with casein being creamier and more flexible, and egg tempera being more brittle and more glossy in finish and applied with smaller strokes.

@@HajraMeeks Thanks Hajra! I have been giving some serious thought about trying casein. I've painted with oil for a long time and watercolor too. I have tried acrylic and gouach and liked them both but never tried true egg tempera or casein.

As a subscriber to your channel, i think your "timed" drawings are becoming a little much. I would rather see a beautiful drawing in a normal amount of time, to see perfection at the end. I like proper drawings which drew me to the channel in the first place i dont like the feeling of rushing a drawing in timed demonstrations. Lets bring back the balance.
