Drawing Mark Making and Texture- Drawing Surface Texture 

This is part of a series of videos with worksheets made for pupils. We have previously looked at volume through tone and directional line, how to achieve proportions and now consider how we use mark making to describe surface.
This video focuses on looking at different surfaces in pictures and considering how we would create them though mark making. Initially the drawings are close up sections, almost abstract, so we largely do not need to consider form.
The sheet moves onto look at how Henry Moore uses line to convey the wool surface on a sheep drawing. With further reference material, including the surface of a sheep’s wool and a further image of a sheep and lamb, we consider how we use source information and translate this into a drawing. This task isn’t about copying a source but interpretation.
