Drawing figures and people on Pinterest: loose sketches in my sketchbook. In this video, I show you how I draw with a pen to create very fast sketches of people and figures. It's a great way to take a break from serious Figure Drawing, and just spend some time getting lost in the lines!

Thanks so much for watching! :) Let me know if you enjoy drawing in a loose expressive way, just to follow the lines and see where they lead... !

I love quick sketches like these! I actually think they are far more interesting to look at than more "proper" drawings.

While I enjoy all of your videos, this was right down my lane. My personal interest is loose exaggerated gesture drawings of figures or street scenes with a Noodler’s Neponset fountain pen and a couple of strokes of ink wash. Thx!

ah so great to hear this!! I definitely want to do more of these drawings more regularly, and work with ink as well! Thanks so much for this comment, I also now feel inspired to do street scenes! thanks for watching ❤

how many finished sketches do you do per day on average? Is it enough to do 2 large finished sketches per day? I am an absolute beginner in figure drawing.

Is this a good method to use as a beginner? Also, how often are you looking away from your reference & down at the drawing?
@Drawing-Life
@Drawing-Life Год назад
Hi, yes this is an excellent method for a beginner : helps to build line control and confidence, plus is also a good way to learn gesture drawing which I personally think is essential for beginners to learn. Gesture is often misunderstood as a “fast drawing of the figure” but it’s not … it’s a drawing of the movement and the energy or particular quality (ie “gesture”) … so yes this is good to do. Also to answer how often am I looking….. I try to look 70% at the reference. Not easy though! I have a video on this exact topic though if you want to check it out. Thanks so much for this great comment! Also love your profile pic!! #tearsinrain 🖤 🦉

As long as you don't sell it. Just for sketch practice, it's good to use reference

I can't show photo reference in the videos because of copyright restrictions and because i want to avoid getting strikes from RU-vid. I always leave a link to the exact pose in every video description.
