Nathan's little "enjoy your delete concept" was very underrated

Jacob's horror plot was SO similar to The Magnus Archives, and now I would love to see them all make something based on it, like drawing the Entities based on their alternative titles (e.g. The Mother of Puppets, The Crawling Rot, Forever Deep Below Creation, It Knows You, The World Is Always Ending)

Every time Nathan gets to draw an animal or a nature scene he goes off and it's a freaking masterpiece!

All of them are good, but I looove Julia's final piece. The perspective is so wonky it feels like I'm about to fall *down* those stairs. It's such a fascinating and unsettling energy. I love it!

I've been rewatching a lot of old episodes during the 2023 winter break, and was so happy to be reminded of this awesome episode. Probably my favorite Nathan piece

That bit in Nathan's render when a series of random shapes suddenly turned into rock textures was so viscerally satisfying, I actually went, "Ooof!" with the impact of it.

This was a fun prompt! Everyone was very creative! Nathan’s was such a cool concept that turned out amazing. Jacob made some more awesome characters that I would love to see more of. Julia made not one, not two, but three very neat drawings that all fit the prompt. And Karina provided excellent commentary and moral support.

The lighting in Julia's last piece is unsettling in a really cool way?? Almost like it's retro video camera pov but rather than grain/static it's dry dust and dirt that gets tracked into the saloon.

I’m grateful Julia shared both her process and the fact that even an artist as skilled and hardworking as she is has periods where she just isn’t connecting with art. Professional artists have to keep creating through that and it’s incredibly hard. I’m not an artist isn’t he way Julia is, but I do a lot of drawing and painting for work and it’s a slog when I’m not feeling it. I hope Julia finds her way through the other side of that fog soon.

Name suggestions and little details for Jacob's characaters Red: Char. Loves clowns and Arthurian lore and they're a bit superstitious Blue: Dez, short for Desdemona. All her sisters are also named after tragic shakespearean heroines and she goes out of her way to rescue stray cats Green: Django. DIY genius who dreams of becoming an opera singer

I like how Nathan drew many spooky eyes but also did his best to avoid having to draw normal human eyes, with long hair, blindfolded and glow.

I cannot believe that Julia's first piece has like GENIUS to me and the second I saw it I thought "god I want to get a tattoo of this" AND SHE JUST DELETED IT SECONDS LATER, and then the second came and and I thought "wow that will be a grant wallpaper" AND IT WAS GONE AGAIN 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

Julias second piece looks SO COOL! It looks like a scene right out of Control (except with a cowboy).

Very epic and cool art! I really like Julia's drawings because it's like. You followed this guy through vegas, tried to approach him in a saloon, and now you have his attention at the stairs ... little story there, idk what it is, but it's there.

For Jacob's characters it's a hard one since they are meant to be cartoon heroes. I would go for relatively simple english sounding names mostly, so Morgan (just Morgan, trickstery vibes), Lucia Laws (Lucia for the eyes, laws cause of the blindfold), and Dr. Douglas Mariner, PhD (ex-leading marine geologist, now just Doug, which I didn't know meant Black Waters).

I just LOVE how Nathan's style and skill has improved over time. I was here from the beans episodes, and he's just grown so much as an artist. I'm genuinely flabbergasted every time I see something he's made, he's an amazing artist.

Jacob continues to casually toss fantastic character designs out into the world, Nathan continues to produce incredible, evocative aesthetics, and Julia continues to have excellent ideas that she then deletes so she can replace them with more excellent ideas.

im glad people are pointing out how jacob just made a bunch of tma avatars, but no one has mentioned what they think they are the avatars of (probably because its obvious but still) Anyways first is an avatar of the slaughter imo, second is an avatar of the eye (who coulda guessed) and the third is defo an avatar of the vast.

Hank Green is known for explaining tough concepts in an understandable way. What if he explained everyday ideas badly? Like in the style of Zach Anner describing movies (who I would still love to see back on the show!).

I feel like Jacob’s first character is named Jay, the second one is Aria, and the third is Caine. I loved all of these drawings so, so, much!!

Also, can I just say that I love having everyone here even if not everyone draws, I just love everyone together being the best single brain celled group. Love all 4 of ya!

for Jacob's characters (left to right) what about Cherry, Iris, and Merlin? They're a bit simple, but just in theme with "Saturday morning cartoon" character vibes. Cherry because of their colour pallet and "Cherub" because the devil look is kinda giving fallen angel, Iris because eyes, and Merlin because "mer" is a word used in referral to the sea, and ya boy is an octopus guy. Absolutely baller video, I love you guys' speed draws - everybody did amazing 👌👌!

Jacob literally just made 3 one extremely compelling magnus archives ocs and I already love them.

1) Nathan that piece is so good. 2) I thought Julia's second piece was going to go really dark and have the cowboy looking up at a bunch of cowboys hanged from the ceiling to kind of like show the risks of being one, or the scary fate he's trying to dodge but can't avoid or something, just an idea. The doors behind him imply he's at death's door to me lol.

Damn. Nathan's art progress over the years has been hugely inspiring and motivating. His rendering game has become so damn impressive. Also him rolling prehistoric is about as fated as Jacob rolling the fool lol. Also all 3 of Julia's pieces are great, but that second one was def my fav.

Jacob's drawing is similar to story I'm writing right now. The people don't get unique powers, but everyone is born with symbols called Deep Marks which are separated in two parts. Deep Marks are activated by participating in a ritual to transport you to the world of these eldritch/Old Ones type beings. When you enter that world, you garner the attention of the beings, whereupon your Deep Mark is activated just by being in their presence. Only one side is activated, and if the ritual is not interrupted you will be pulled out of the world. You can take the ritual again to activate the other side, but when you enter that world again you are immediately beset by attacks from those beings, because they hate humans intruding on their world. One half of the Deep Mark grants Telekinesis, the other grants telepathy. The difference between gaining one and gaining the other is specifics in the ritual, but having both is incredibly rare, as about 80% of the people who try for the second half are killed before the ritual is finished. Sorry for the wall, but I wanted to talk about this :D

As an architeture major I can say stairs are pretty much masterclass. 37 vanishing points? sure, no prob. stairs? heck no! spiral staircases in particular are my nemesis

For Jacob's thing I deffo want a innsmouth villain turned hero. Maybe have their dad be the big bad but and their plucky teen child (purple color palette) rebels by joining the heroes. Their power is like a hulk esque transformation but they become like a fish brute

Julia actually met BOTH her prompts by serial killing her first two good drawings during her own descent into madness.

to be fair, both julia drawing scenes for character challenges and jacob drawing characters for a setting challenge is them playing to their strengths and what they enjoy drawing, so im all for them tweaking prompts. let the drawfees have fun, they give us so much joy
