I've been doing pyrography for a good few years now, and I also always kinda struggled to get proper clarity in my lines, especially on hardwood. But then I bought a proper temperature adjustable tool thing with the wire nibs, and it changed everything. Doubt anyone will see this, but if you do, and you are seriously interested in pyrography, I highly recommend going for the blocky temperature adjustable ones over the cheap soldering iron like ones. Get a better product in half the time, and have more fun doing it.

Yay, Jazza did pyrography! I've been waiting for this! A couple tips (pun intended): 1. You CAN actually erase a little bit with sandpaper. You have to balance erasing it enough to fade away with the damage it does to the surrounding wood, but it works really well and can save a piece if you need it. 2. If you want a smaller, more manageable version of the blowtorch, you can use a culinary torch. Basically it is a small, one handed use butane torch that is safe for indoor use. 3. I like the idea of using gouache, it made for some cool effects, but since it is water based it will raise the grain of the wood. I actually bought a set of decently cheap alcohol markers specifically to use for this purpose. They are, however, less subtle, but again, you can sand the wood to fade it out if you don't like it.
@MizusSparkles
@MizusSparkles 2 года назад
I was actually wondering if he sanded it before at all and if he didn't could he have had a result he was even more happy about. Also I was thinking he could have sanded the rustic tree one to make it pop a bit more like he wanted.
@DrawingWithFire
@DrawingWithFire 2 года назад
I don't recommend the alchohol markers. They are dye based and fade very quickly.
@rfresa
@rfresa 2 года назад
Ooh, so that's what's going on with a wand that I recently carved and painted with watercolors! I couldn't figure out why the wood I sanded smooth looked rough again after painting. I just wanted to add some color without hiding the grain. 🤔
@MrJoeMaster13
@MrJoeMaster13 2 года назад
To elaborate on the sandpaper can you use a pointed Dremel for a more precise erase? They makes Dremel heads textured like sandpaper so I thought this could work.

I love how fast you learn, adapt and figure out what to do from mistakes. The end results even though it was made of wood it looks like a actual painting where wood was not involved. I am very jealous of how good your practice work looked. The last time I messed with wood burning didn't look so good. I want some wood rounds to make viking shields, lol. So, for Americans you can get a cheap wood burner at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, or Lowe's/Home Depot. You will never get the scent of burning wood out of your sinuses. Use bare wood with no treatment cause the chemicals will be very bad while burning. You might want to do this outdoors or at least in well ventilated area. I still remember what it smelled like and it's been like 7 years or so. I'm not expert but this is the information I can pass on. Good luck. I need to go to town and get a new wood burner now.

Sandpaper, an eraser in drawing and painting can be as important and/or more so. And when it comes to wood that means sanding and removing marks or (works well on staining and colorants) softening them with intention, with the right tools. Going back and forth, adding dermal work and more burning, can take things even further. Thanks, and Keep the fun coming Jazza!

Of course he supervised. I ended up making a really cool rose and then I painted it and gave it to my mom as a gift. It is still hung up in her office to this day. I'm still proud of it. I want to do more wood burning. I loved it I've always loved drawing and always been good at drawing and this was just a more fun version of drawing to me. I used the angled tip that you showed off. He had other ones I could have used but I chose that one because I liked that it had a pointed tip that I could make fine points with and with the flat part I could make thicker lines. Plus, I used markers and things like that with the same angled tip all the time so I figured I was used to that type of tip. I wish I could share my wood burned rose in this comment. I would read an entire series of books about The Watchers! And that artwork was PERFECT for the story! I would think the watchers would want a warning that was a little obscure, not so obvious. That way, only those who are TRULY paying attention to their surroundings will benefit from the warning. All others, watch out! They're coming for you! 😄

Wood burning is my personal favorite medium. I've been working with it for about 25 years now. My favorite tip is the Calligraphy tip. The softer the wood and the least amount of visible grain works best. Adding a little water color is also fun when the image just cries out for color.

Amazing result as usual. But who let Jazza play with blowtorch without adult supervision?

Your videos are amazing! But I really struggle when you do the end and there's alot of rapid movement and flashing. It's not great for people with epilepsy or photosensitivity 😥

I love when you create art for the TableTop Time stories! It'll be so cool if you make some more art for them as time goes on, this was so fun to watch! 😁💕

I never in all the years I have watched Jazza, realized just how amazing of a storyteller he is. He'd probably kill in DnD.

I loved all three of those things. The one you did of the Watcher looked like he was trying to remain invisible in the woods, the better to watch. And man, you can tell a story.

I loved this as a pyrographer and woodworker! Loved seeing how excited you got and how much fun you had with this! Fun fact: torching the wood is also a way to finish wood, as well. Well done! I'd love to see you do more woodcraft!! 😊
