Drayton Farley plays the worn out man’s anthem, “Pitchin’ Fits.”
It was a cloudy and brutally windy day when we met up with Drayton in the woods outside of Denver for an early fall shoot. We were hoping to match the vibe of this song with a more blue collar looking background. But the shelter in the streams from the stormy weather seemed to fit without fault.
Drayton had been touring his new songs around off of the success of his 2021 record, “A Hard up Life.” The two most popular songs on there are “American Dream” & “Pitchin’ Fits.” We would argue that anyone who listens to these two songs, will immediately identify with the details. The proof to this claim, is in the audience. When you watch videos online of people in the crowd singing his songs, those two are obviously the most loved. And what a credit to Drayton for that.
“Pitchin' Fits” has become something of an anthem for folks who are working their asses off and trying to get by. Like so much of what Drayton Farley writes, it connects with all of us who struggle with anxiety, being worn out, have questioned ourselves, and have done whatever we can to provide for our families. This is why we continue to work with this fella.

I was drinking a half gallon of whiskey a day. Dealing with a combat deployment from 2013 and the loss of a best friend. I went to treatment in FEB 2023. Best thing ever. This song reminds me of how supportive my partner was and IS still. Brings a tear. Great song writing.

Turning 27 this year.. I’ve been a father since I was 19 and had personal and family struggles few and far between... it gets better brother. The rollercoaster of life never stops until the final station and you get to see your lost loved ones again without problems because they’ve been solved beyond death. I feel like as a man having an entire family depending on his income and willingness, it causes us to kinda shell. I don't have many friends like I did when I had very little responsibility. Now at 30 years old, in times of worrying about my career or next months expenses or house chores and just everything all at once... it's a long and hurtful phase and unfortunately the ones we love and are going through the stress for are the only ones to see the aggravation. To see the worry on our face every single day. To watch as we go from being positive and carefree and joyful to just stressed and constantly trying to make the next plan or accomplish the next goal and continue forward. It makes us bitter. It's hard to enjoy much of anything lately and this song I feel does an absolutely amazing job of describing the bitterness we hold inside.

You can leave your pinky and ring finger 3rd fret B and e string pretty much all the time and just move the other fingers around for the chords. Bit like Wonderwall actually.
