Dread Ep 1 (Horror Sci-fi with Jenga) - Rated RPG 

+thisisthemeaning We'll actually get to using the mechanics next episode, but it was a really great way to play the game. Much less messing around with rules and more telling the story.

exactly why i love it. its a great story telling medium and much more accessible to outsiders than most rpg systems.

+thisisthemeaning Haven't seen much of this, but how is using Jenga better than dice rolls for example? It seems that the easy first few pulls will always be successes and then it might collapse to a small mistake, and then what?

the number of pulls you have to make is up to the GM based on how difficult a task is. dread is usually used with survival style modules where the tension is ramping and anxiety is building. therefore the early pulls should in fact be easier to make because he characters are less stressed out or desperate. if you fall a pull it will lead to your characters death and the rest of the party continues on with a rebuilt tower (usually mixing a few blocks pulled by the gm). Many groups address the issues you express by using two towers, one normal and the other missing more pieces from the start. the 1st tower being used for normal game decisions and the second tower is used to make actions with possibly mortal consequences. and for many play styles it is better than dice rolling because it is meant to be a guided story telling medium, focused on the in story and not forcing players to spend a bunch of time dealing with stats and dice. it adds a whole new level of suspense to the game for most people.

ah, i see, you can still build tension even in a freeform rulefree diceless game, with the right GM though. thanks for the info, i guess i ll see the mechanics in the next episode, and as you seemed played this system, is it descriptive trait based or more like The Pool ?
