@@philothepenguin I had the same problem my parents were against it until boom I came home with two strands and it slowly grew on them they just want me to keep off my face
I always tell folks I’m gonna get locs. Then I always shave my head and get waves. Watching you go through so many styles has been entertaining, educational, and hilarious because your patience is unmatched 😂
From a 15 year waver and now that I have locs I’m so glad I finally had the patience to let it jus grow the trick is find a hair style during the mini fro stage that you look good in for me it was 2 strand curls until I felt like it was long enough to my liking and it’s been 3 years and 3 months and now I don’t think I will ever cut them or at least ima go 10 years
The journey has def been the best part. I work in professional setting and couldn’t imagine being without them I enjoy making them look neat I have a curly hair pattern and they really fit me
i started my locs around the same time as you did with this set of locs and i agree with you i hate having somthing over my head but i use a bonet now for past couple months and i gotta say the bonnet is the most comfortable thing ive ever worn on my head i hate durags and loc tubes bonnet is the way
I used to watch you when i was young and always wanted dreads but got straight hair, fast forward 3 felonies 5 times locked up, and a year in prison i got chin length dreads n i fw em heavy. Took a while to get to this point, this is my 3rd time doing em, went from 118 to 29 now like 60 somthing. Its definitely possible, just depends on how willing you are to stick with the long ugly stage and maintain them more😂
Me n my wife had a conversation about colorism, dark skin vs light skin hatred, which led to a conversation about how we both are worried about our son being mixed but white complexion n red hair w/ dreadlocks!!!!!
Yeah of course & that would be normal but I doubt that's the case. People coming from culture typically don't care about outside perception where as people without it like the common African American are heavily concerned with it like this person explained. @@Joker-fz5bt
I’m a quarter Nigerian with verrrry curly hair and I’m really inspired to start my dread journey now bc my curls are 14 inches stretched, so shrinkage won’t be tooooo bad when dreading. Your channel is soooo helpful. Trying to go for full locks on the bottom and only dreaded roots on top to still have some curls cascading on top. Do you think this would look cool or should I just do full on locks all over? All opinions welcomed PLEASE!! I have 3c hair for reference.
I did interlocking on my first set of locs and it ended up making them look like braids. And I feel like it shortened them a little more than just twisting
I'm definitely considering loc-ing my hair but if the only way to do a detox is apple cider vinegar I may have to pass. That stuff smells like dumpster juice🤮🤮
There's other alternatives to apple cider vinegar. I avoid vinegar and use a detox from Locsanity, it's grapefruit coconut and lime smells really good 🙏🏽
@@denisn8336 yeah you good it just that usually when people get braids there natural hair line isn’t the best so people get a double so it can look cleaner but if you’re is good you have no need
This dude talkin about dreads for 12 minutes, and Jesus christ comes to mind? cool. its like ur at McDonalds and the cashier asks if you want fries, and you reply "Jesus Christ" lol
Any locs are good it doesnt matter if traditional or not. Like i have straight hair and 63 locs (back combed) and i used to think if people will question if they are traditional or not. Butbelieve me, after a small while of having them, you won't even think about it because your locs are YOUR OWN and it doesn't matter as long as you love your hairs. Happy Journey, Stay lock'd😊🤝
People don’t like lighter skin people with locs because with their hair texture it’s harder to keep a neat style and their locs always look very unkempt, which inherently makes the rest of the loc community look bad. Like you can’t tell me this guy doesn’t look a bit like raggedy Ann, and If you have straighter hair why would you even want locs? 🤔
@@N8_Dogg Fr… this “lighter skin hair” that he’s talking about is what I have. I’m 100% Nigerian but yet I have 3c/4a hair with a 3b crown so does that mean that I can’t do locs either? The raggedy Ann comment was just so rude and out of line
