Jeffery Phillips looks into dreams music career and yaps along the way!! i love my girlfriefd. Thanks for watching if you enjoyed the video like and subscribe! It would mean a lot (: #dream #commentary #musicreactions
Thats because its hard to be too harsh on your own work to make it a masterpiece. Usually I see that a lot of people who are really good at what they do (artistically), yet they always feel inferior, or like it isnt that big of a deal. Dream made music because it entertained him and he wanted to, not because he wanted to make good music
My friend will sing the “I cant breathe when you’re not there” as a joke atleast once a week. Please save me please please I’ll actually do anything save me save me save me save me save me s
I can’t believe I just now found out that in Roadtrip it was “thinking wet fart”, I thought it was “thinking what for?” Like doesn’t this sound better? “Twenty hours in an old ford Cross the Midwest, thinking ‘what for?’” I feel like it drives home the distress of the breakup part a bit more.
Just a tip from my fellow sound engineers. It doesn’t matter. (And we use the top of the mic for clarity, less noise and smoother vocals. Easier to edit and literally works the same. That’s why mics that “work from the top” are used on the sides during performance and when they go big or want something scratchy or deep they use the top to make it eery or loud and bring it back to the side to bring clarity back because it’s better that way, mics that are “360” are typically harder to use and collect more noise (obv) than something direct. Even directional mics and stick mics are never always pointed at the persons mouth but just in the area of the subject at hand. Being able to hear the person like normal again not acting directly into the mic and able to hear the setting)
@@goowoo69420 Groom groom groom groom I want you in my room, so we can drink together and I can touch your shoulder. Boom boom boom boom, I'm losing my career, all I did was touch your shoulder, I didnt know that you were younger. Whoaaa whoaaa everybody cancel him whoaaa whoaaa everybody cancel him
Gravy is quite good because he knows its not serious, he did named himself gravy after all and his most know song is a remix on never gonna give you up Dream doesn't work because 1. He's trying to make this serious 2. He's not a singer and doesn't do any vocal training to get better 3. He was a fuckin Minecraft youtuber 4. He's trying a singing career cause nowadays everybody and their mother are doing that even though its shit
I legit don't like his music, but when it comes to mask, I think he did something new with the symbolism. I think he ends off saying that he's been wearing the smile for so long that it became real. Basically saying he faked it till he made it. Which is a cool idea. Or am I dead wrong?
I actually never thought about it that way. That is interesting and definitely gives the song at least a little more depth I’ll give him that! (Also good joke lol)
Ironically, “Change My Clothes” helped my sister get out a rut with her ADHD and actually start clean our room(we both have ADHD so our shared room is kinda messy) when the song was released. We both love Alex Benjamin and he really carried the song
It was the first dream song I'd listened to because I found it through alec benjamin and he definitely carries. I actually was super surprised to see Dream's name on it and I was like "wait he's a musician??" But nope, he just had a pretty good song with a much better artist.
The MV of Dreams that featured gang violence is especially weird when you realise the actor fighting him has pink hair and a red coat, clearly showing technoblade who tragically died
The one thing I get is like, as a person with adhd, “masking” is the official (I think?) term we use to hide our symptoms and appear neurotypical in front of other people (I’ve been bullied so hard into masking). Great video! You’re very underrated
He went from Minecraft RU-vidr to getting exposed for cheating at speedruns to falling into obscurity because everybody got sick of him to revealing his face to become popular again to being clowned on for it to making music, what a fucking domino effect
I thought this dude would have like 100k or something cause of how good quality everything is, but on the bright side, I get to be an og fan when he blows up!
i think for the lyric in change my clothes "wanna find a girl but can't find my phone" is meant to be the same way as "how am i meant to cook dinner if i cant eve get out of bed in the morning." like how is he meant to find with someone if he can't even be bothered to keep track of where his phone is, something valuable in his everyday life. at least thats what i take of it
idk if this is weird but i have auditory processing disorder and specific voices are very difficult to listen to and your voice is really easy to listen to for me
I dunno if I'm just thinking about it too much but I think yall are underestimating "Spotlight" hard. Like, just look at the Chorus... Even WITHOUT the Allegations in mind, Dream singing the kind of lyrics in this song makes me internally vomit. I never thought a 24 year old singing extremely subtle innuendos would sound more disgusting and creepy than a Tom Jones song, but here we are and I have no idea why.
honestly, and i may very well be mistaken, i've always heard the line "Wanna find a girl, but can't find my phone" as in saying that he wants a girlfriend, but doesn't feel like he's even up for finding one or capable to do so, if he (how he reports) can't even find something as simple, mundane and everyday-like like his own smartphone which you would normally probably keep around and most of the time be able to find pretty easily. that would also tie in the line pretty neatly with the one preceeding it "I really wanna change the world, but can't change my clothes again saying that he wants to do something great, but can't even manage to do something small and mundane. i'd love to hear other thoughts and opinions on this tho! so feel free to point out if i got something wrong
I think the problem with this song is that this symbolism isn't particularly interesting in any way. It's kind of "i'm 14 and this is deep" type symbolism
Genuinely can't tell if the description of m.A.A.d city was a joke or not (I haven't listened to it) Edit: It's a Kendrick Lamar song, I understand now.
I have never watched any dream video and I can't stand how people never shut up about him, but I just wanted to say that his Panic Attack song has been stuck in my head for over a month now thanks to the H3 Podcast 💀 edit: 2 weeks after posting this comment, someone just liked and then immediately unliked it. it's so over 😭
This reminds me that my friend and I made a joking music video for a theatre project to panic attack but my teacher showed it to all his classes and everyone thought we were dream stans 😭😭😭
Change my clothes is actually a really motivating song for me. It perfectly encapsulates the feeling of knowing you can do great things but being too complacent to get out of bed. Everytime i hear it it makes me want to work on a project. His other work isnt even that bad. i dont get where everyone is coming from.
The thing is dreams music is from the view of a neurodivergent, socially unaccepted person. Most people don’t get that cuz they are neurotypical. So they’d rather take the piss out of a minority coming forward with their struggles rather than try to understand and encourage them to be open about what difficulties they’ve faced.
@@insomniostudios4359 funny of you to mention that considering he only has as bad of a reputation because he’s neurodivergent. Not ever has the internet targeted a person more than dream, as soon as allegations came out everyone was horribly quick to even say „finally his downfall is here“ as to imply they are celebrating that someone got groomed just so they can hate somebody? Now that his allegations are disproven he will still never get rid of this reputation and people cling onto it more than they cling to the allegations of ACTUAL groomers. Why? Because he’s not neurotypical. Because it’s so fucking easy to hate neurodivergent people.
I think Change My Clothes was a relatively solid song, but you can tell that it was more or less all Alec. As for writing music, it's pretty damn hard, but I don't think Dream has ever written a decent hook in his life.
I find it ironic the transition music is sing about me in dying of thirst by kendrick lamar, which is one of the best songs of all time in a video about dreams music.
glad i found your channel you give off that Drew Gooden/ Danny Gonzalez vibe but in a more subtle fashion. keep going and I'm sure you'll find great success
I really like this type of commentary. Unlike the popular creators in the genre like Kurtis Conner or Danny Gonzalez (both of which I DO still watch and enjoy) your content feels really genuine. Like you can take the piss out of something without the fear of getting canceled. Keep it up man.
@@NaddleSchidaddle I understand what you're saying, but it definitely feels like anything perceived as "mean" has been pretty obscured by the elites in the commentary community.
"Until we end up dead" while I agree it's overall pretty boring with it's beat and such I can actually respect as it was made partially to pay homage to the death of fellow youtuber Technoblade who recently passed away from cancer. Technoblade's father even participated in the the music video (which also singals the connection to Techno better than the song itself)
I will say I disagree with you about your opinions on the songs but really good video overall. For anyone wondering my opinion I’ve always liked any and all types of music especially when you can tell the artist cares about what they’re creating. Dream doesn’t have the best voice or songs but I do genuinely enjoy them because he clearly loves writing them
Paranoid is already a name for a song and album made by black sabbath. I made sure it was popular enough just by looking up the word paranoid to show that Black Sabbath's album was at the top of the search results. It's like how queen did The Show Must Go On, and so did Has-been Hotel but theirs was popular enough to actually show up when looking up the show must go on.
my favorite part about "Till i end up dead" is that the announcement for it wasnt that clear it was a song, and since it came after the whole "i'm putting the mask back on because yall made fun of me" so a lot of people geniunely thought he was gonna kill himself and i refuse to believe that was unintentional
Dude, I literally came back from watching a bunch of live performances of this epic, innovative, pioneering rock band from the 70s and the story behind how the band got started, etc. etc. Then this gets recommended to me lol. I went from "The cultural and musical legacy of this obscure band" to "lol this famous youtuber made crappy songs"
your videos are actually really good, i usually dont like commentary channels very much bcs i feel like they start yapping at some point. but ur video really drew me in, keep it up !
if I had a nickel for every time a minecraft youtuber turned into a mediocre tryhard musician, i'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
I knew he made some music, and of course, I saw the memes, but i never actually listened to any of them until now, and i wish i didn't. I honestly can't tell if he is just doing this for the heck of it or if he is actually serious about music.
