I feel despite the physical differences like USA having a better average team height and with their physical vert jump height , they didn't maximize it and yet buzz went twice as hard for the disc especially after a turn over while USA is kind of not performing especially with the physical advantages. Personally I support the buzz bullets

I noticed that Japanese players mark about 5 inches away from the person that's throwing while every other country's players give at least 2 ft of space between them and the opponent.

i dont think Brodie is being lazy! If you think about it, while he jogs around it makes his cuts that more surprising and catches his defenders off guard. He pretty much always gets his defender on his cuts

spiking isn't always meant to be rude to the other team. sometimes you're just excited and trying to fire up your team. i, along with many other players, don't spike with the intention of rubbing our goal in our defender's face.

the assist is the person who throws the goal, the scorer is the one who receives the pass.

Wow, great to watch such a clean game with good spirit. Seems like such games are getting rarer at high levels these days. What really made the Buzz Bullets take the game was their second and third cuts which always were away from the disc and *hard* so that the cutter was always ahead of his defender and the guy with the disc just had to put it past the US defender. Nothing fancy, but really clean. Many of the US points were just hucks into traffic that the US only got because of their height.

its called a scooper (or scoober, somewhere in between a B and a P pronunciation). its thrown somewhat like a hammer but more of a flick of the wrist then a big arm motion

Well, in Ultimate Frisbee the goal is to score more points than the other team by completing a pass in the defense's end zone to score. So, the goal is similar to the goal in football.

ilove living here in asia , the quick play here is so enjoyable. strange d japan was playing though barely putting a mark on the disc. seemed like a strange zone. surprised to usa not use their height a bit more

What stood out to me the most was Japan's defense, even though they were on average half a foot shorter they still managed to make the US take risky throws a good amount of the time.

great game! but all stars were getting really tired at the end of the game.. they didn't sub their players whereas the buzz bullets could do so because they have more team members.. but both teams played really well :D

US is just playing to their advantage. If you were small you'd advance and play the short game but as you said they just huck into traffic.. That's just a style they CAN use against smaller teams.

Things I'm noticing about this game: USA's handlers aren't really pivoting, and a lot of their break throws are over the top. Buzz Bullets are doing a much better job of moving the disc efficiently and playing 'fundamentally' sound ultimate (also, their throws are just plain sick).

I think the US team needs more conditioning- early on, they were fast enough to counter those cuts, but after about 15 minutes they started to not be able to keep up.

fantastic game to everyone involved, I don't think there was a single contested foul call all game. This totally represents what's great about ultimate, almost all other sports have reached the level of "win by any means necessary" and have lost all respect for each other and the sports themselves. not ultimate, even the way observers work still leaves it in the hands of the players to make informed, respectful calls. thanks to team usa and japan for the great and spirited game
