Look at 06:06: You shouldn't have such an angle in the webbing in the Dutch Clip. You almost double the stress on the clip like that. Take it to the other side of the tree and let the webbing go through the clip as directly as possible.

Thank for sharing. I’m in the decision process of pulling the trigger on a Sparrow. Being new to hammock camping it’s hard enough but what making it even harder is all the talk (from you and others) about the customization of this hammock. To be honest I can’t see me saying, “Wow, I wish I got the blue accent stitching instead of the green.” It’s seems like its an important feature for many of you. Hey, whatever floats your boat man. It’s all good. I would just like to get a hammock that’s comfortable, durable and easy to hang. That alone is still not an easy choice with all the options.

Mike JW totally! Also look at dutchware chameleon and hammock gear hammocks. This one is very pricy. You may want to check out my other video about this hammock and how they handled the situation when it ripped. Ty for subscribing to HikeLife. Many more videos to come my friend. 🌄🏕

I’ve had the Dream Hammock for about 2 years now. I def would have changed mine from a 10ft to 11ft but yes I love it still, it has gone everywhere with me. Although It is pricey and now there’re a lot of other options out there.

@@HikeLife I have a 3 inch almost through scuff in my DH hammock. Randy (Papa Smurf) told me how to fix it. He sent me some of the same material as my hammock body is, suggested to use Mc Netts seam grip, cut the fabric, melt the edges to stop the fray and glue it together on both sides.

I have the Sparrow model dark olive with woodland camo over cover and woodland net. 66" wide. I just ordered one in OutdoorINK fallen branches dark green, body, cover and net. Double layer with a 1.7 oz olive drab inner layer. I'm shooting for the one with the most tents, hammocks and flashlights when I expire wins? Great video. I love my DH hammocks!

Great video!!! Your showing every little thing which was what I was looking for!!! One thing I'm confused about tho.. does the overcover keep water out? Confused about what it does... just trap heat? Added bug protection?
@HikeLife

Quinn's Cars no the cover does not keep water out. It is designed for cold weather warmth in the hammock.

Patrick Fealy thank you for commenting. I like this hammock a lot. There are others out there with bug nets. That is the true advantage having protection from the elements. I use an under quilt not a pad, but to each own. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Some patterns aren't available for weight, length and width. Go to Dream Hammock and check my order 7767. I am 5' 11 at 240. My 1.7 oz MTN? Fabric is rated for 350 lbs and is 66" wide. Most fabric is rated for around 250-275. My new hammock, order #8827 is a double layer that should be about 58" wide but because it's a double layer I didn't need a single layer strength. I hope this helps.

sbricknell40312 thats a great question and the quick answer is yes. Although it ripped with in the first year. I made a video about it. After much back and fourth the manufacturers fixed it. But I would recommend a Dutchware Chamaeleon because dutchware backs their products no questions asked. They also have all the same features. This is of course my point of view. FYI I just released a new video series today a new video every day for 7 days. Please check it out

@HikeLife
@HikeLife 6 лет назад
alessandroandrico100 are you asking how to modify on there website? Or while hanging it?
@alessandroandrico100
@alessandroandrico100 6 лет назад
Hike Life at 11:00 you say you are going to loose a little your ridge line. My question is how do you loose it. thanks
@HikeLife
@HikeLife 6 лет назад
alessandroandrico100 oh gotcha, so to loosen the ridge line you’ll need to raise your tree straps up the tree higher. Then loosen the tension on your Whoopie slings or straps attached to the hammock. You want the hammock to hang down at a 30 degree angle. Does that help? Let me know if you have any more questions. I demo this in my recent red river gorge group video Ep3
@alessandroandrico100
@alessandroandrico100 6 лет назад
Hike Life yes, understood. Thank you for your kind reply
@justingilpin
@justingilpin 5 лет назад
I modded my hammock with a customization ridge line using amsteal. It allowed me to create the proper tension every time without having to adjust the slings or straps. I don't think any mainstream hammock developers have it, but I could be wrong.

Fun video! Your enthusiasm is contagious. Came to visit your channel as I am looking for a hammock myself. I see that this vid is already 2 years old, so will check out the rest of your video's. But Did I see a very small hole or stretched part in the bug net? at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kciPkwn8fLM.html. Pauze it at 15:37. To your left focus on the big tree, half way up there is a dark spot. I saw that and I was like, Oh shit...I hope not! Hope its just a video glitch or something. The leaves camo on the bug net is really good. Someday I have my own custum made hammock...one day...
