Love the addition of white for contrast really works well. Your vessel is no longer a somewhat sad looking forgotten love, she is now looking modern, new and fresh nice job mate. PS I do love it when you use words like taps, it's so rare on RU-vid these days lol.

Hey mate you are a sanding animal ! My advice is to invest in some kind of dust mask and something for fumes for the varnish . You did excellent work bringing the wood finish back ! Cheers !

You must be proud as punch - awesome work. My Mrs has been at me to lose the couch from the middle of the saloon - she saw your refit and just nailed me "see, Andy did it and it looks great - told you" - have to admit it does look better - another of season job on the list! She looks brilliant - I'm a woodworker and can appreciate the effort that goes into all that sanding down! Preparation is 9/10ths of the finish 😁 Robin

@OceanCruisers
@OceanCruisers 11 дней назад
you have to be really careful with the sanding, as soon as you see the varnish coming away then you ease off. the blue in the handholds are colour changing LED strips 👍

Please throw away this dummy of an sanding machine right now. Get yourself a sander from MAKITA, Festool or Mirka. Most important is the dust extraction. If you don't have a vacuum cleaner get one, a household model which can be used on the boat later might do for the small project of refurbishing the interior. You will find dust for years and years if you go on with that Bosch. But it's also the quality of surface this leaves in comparison to the ones I suggested. This Bosch is very high, resulting in an really unsafe lead of the machine. You won't be able to achieve a smooth surface like with the ones above. There are reasons for phrases like "buying cheap means buying double ". Good tools are mandatory for satisfying results. A good sander saves also a lot of sandpaper, so it will pay back immediately. This green nonsense from Bosch must be forbidden... 280 on bare wood is absolute nonsense. Where did you get this from? 150 or 180 is fairly fine enough for bare wood as the scratches will be invisible. Sanding varnish 280 is fine, maybe even 360 or 400 for the last coats. Fine paper will improve the flow of the varnish. Sanding inbetween coats is not necessary for any paint I know. Just the time will always be different. It's important to thin especially the first coat to ensure it soaks into the wood as deep as possible. The second coat can get less thinner. Good results are also achieved by painting coat on coat right away with a little time inbetween, maybe 4 hours. If you got enough surfaces in one go you can begin at the first point when you finished the last one. This builds good thickness.
