Additionally the production design is incredible. Each episode has its own unique lighting like the previous episode for example to the fit with the Halloween theme they chose to make the entire episode monochrome to amplify the already eery and dreadful nature of the episode. Props to everyone who worked on this and you can’t see it but I’m currently giving a standing ovation in my room.
This series has truly sent me on a deep emotional journey following the harrowing adventures of these adolescent youths and I have to say this series is an achievement not only in songwriting but in filmmaking and storytelling setting an impossible standard for any other show. Each character is sent on their own, masterfully crafted journey that further develops all the already complex character writing, and as the episodes go by they become more deep and thought provoking, making me reflect further on the qualities that I display and how I can further improve my mental well being and change my life for the better. In the previous episode the quote “you are going to die” truly struck a chord within me. on the surface level this is just great character writing and she is just confused as she is a mere child and does not understand the satirical nature of wearing a wig for Halloween, but when you look deeper it is an somber and dark message showing how not only is she afraid that her sister the only family she has is going to die leaving her alone to fend for herself in this nightmarish landscape we call a society, but she is also defending their neighbour and humbling her sister, essentially saying that wearing wigs is a mockery to people going through real life tragedy’s and it should not be a subject to make fun of during Halloween. This is only one instance of the amazing script writing and I haven’t even mentioned the actors yet. They all feel like their characters, not like fake facades. You can feel their emotions through the screen and I am not ashamed to say that the show has made me tear up from time to time due to the well written conflicts between characters. While I am not yet finished with the show I have to say that this is truly in my top 3 things I have ever seen I my entire fragile existence.
