It's incredible that you learned this song as fast as you did, you must have well trained ears to do so before any tabs have been written. Well done man.
Hey thanks! I love sheet music and tabs as much as the next guy, but there's just something so inherently satisfying about learning and playing by ear. It's like solving a musical puzzle!
Bro when you play guitar a lot, learning song like this by ear can take literally an hour. The different time signatures can be the only tricky stuff. I live the guitar and the paint job there. Awesome stuff 😎
Awesome!! I love the part that JP wrote for this song. He's all over the fretboard and not just chugging on the low end like so many eight string guitar players do. This is a really good part!!
Nailed even the Affliction shirt!! awesome job sir. I've watched your video before listening to the original track. The fact you've learned the track by ear AND shot, edited and uploaded the video barely 24 hours after the release of the track is mind boggling. You've earned yourself a subscriber.
Love that Longfield Strandberg, such a beautiful guitar and it sounds amazing!! This is going to make things much easier for me to learn this song! Thank you! Have a sub as well!
Haha I love not only the cover which you nailed, but also that opening! Got a new subscriber, much respect brother! We 97s need to care for each other haha
damn man, very impressive. I realize this comment is super late haha. Recently got my first 8 string from ormsby. Didn't think there would be so much of a difference between 7 and 8. my forearm is trashed on my fretting hand after playing for like 45 minutes lol. Anywho, your cover slaps harder than will smith. well done.
You're beyond amazing, I was just searching for a cover just to get the tempo and stuff, and I've found a complete masterpiece where I can hear every note that JP wrote perfeclty. You NAILED the fucking thing. Insta sub for you Take it easy and keep your awesome work.
Do it, 8 strings is a blast! Also, join my discord and send me a DM, I'll send you the tab I have so far! When it's finished I'll put it on dropbox and post the link in the description.
The Sarah Longfield guitar really grabbed my attention. But I stayed for the terrific production value and clarity. I don't play guitar but if I did, I wouldn't go anywhere else on video to learn this song.
Dude that was so accurate, how do you manage to fit that many notes in your head in such small time?? Most importantly, the FUCKING TEMPO CHANGES BRO, takes me at least a month of listening before I am confident enough to play something like Dream Theatre... Amazing job :D and that Sarah Longfield signature is just perfect
Haha thank you!! I Instantly fell in love with the Sarah Longfield signature when I saw it! Yeah the tempo changes are rough as heck. What really helped me especially with the intro was breaking it down into its repeating patterns, learning them separately, then combining them! Thanks again for the kind words!
How did you learn the super low parts accurately? I can pick out pretty much any note as low as A on a seven string but lower than that is difficult for me to hear. :( I really want to get an 8 string but I don’t know how well I’d be able to learn songs. AMAZING cover by the way! :)
Thank you! To answer your question, a really nice pair of headphones or speakers will help with the low end clarity. If you're still having trouble, you can slow the audio file down and try to match the notes individually on your guitar. Hope this helps!
Oh wow!! Very good!! I find it amazing that all the really talented guys (and girls) has under 500 subscribers!? Why is that? Are they too good? Like Mr Cheesburger here. All the headbobbing reaction guys racks up10K to 200K subs and for what?
I just think playing the low F# as a power chord a very bad idea, apart from that, nothing else to complain about the composition itself. Maybe the guitar tone wasn't the best, but alright, he's learning how to deal with this new instrument. Great cover btw
