"Eat my ass and balls" is Portnoy's catchphrase that can be found in the song "In the Name of God" between 5:51 and 6:07 minutes in morse code. Even though this is the only apparition of the phrase in a studio album, the band sang it live in the Scenes from a Memory tour, particularly in Glasgow, October 18, 2000 (www.setlist.fm.... At that show, the catchphrase was inserted in the songs The Mirror and Fatal Tragedy. The Glasgow gig was also full of other goofy comedy moments, with changes in the lyrics of Pull Me Under, The Spirit Carries On, Home, and Voices; a cover of Wipeout; and the infamous Canadian Rap. The show of this video was in Chile, 2005 ( • Dream Theater Live In ... ). This is possibly the last appearance of the "Eat my ass and balls" phrase in a DT concert - or at least the last that I could find on the internet.

I just wanted to say, I’ve never really listened to Dream Theater, but then I got recommended this video a week ago. Since then I’ve watched this video at least 4-5 times a day and have had it stuck in my head on a loop. When I open RU-vid there’s like a 50% chance this video is first on my recommended and I watch it again. I’m too far gone, somebody help

I used to do a similar thing with my buddy at a regular gig in Boston…we had this arrangement of “leaving on a jet plane” that we played almost every gig. The first line of the chorus goes “so kiss me and smile for me” and we’d swap it out with “fist me and smile for me” just to see if anyone caught it. Dead serious, no laughing, no acknowledgement, just “fist me” several times throughout the course of this love ballad.

It's not in reference to that. It was a running joke and a catchphrase way before that. That's just another example of the joke in their music. They insert the phrase into their songs very often live.

They aways hid stuff in their albuns to make it deep, but in this one they just wanted to hid something funny. Was a morse code saying "eat my ass and balls". After like 1 year and a half ppl found out, and they started to put "the eat my ass and balls" in different random places of random shows.
