you know why this video is epic, not only because Petrucci playing but because the guy recording survived to the infamous world domination mode and lived to tell about it.
To be honest i think he was a lot better in the past and a lot cleaner for the alternate picking technique for example.I think it's called the Malmsteen illness
guitarralaraja thats where ur wrong, hes just as clean and faster now, his tone changed live so its a bit more messier on purpose but has nothing to do with his playing
I like the sense of drama in this music. Similar to the feeling I get listening to some of the stormier portions of the Bernstein score for "West Side Story," or Rush or ELP, or Steve Vai's "Sound Theories" concert DVD/CD. Lots of good "thematic" segments here, with a lot of dramatic punch.
This whole show is JP gold. The textbook definition of guitar discipline. He doesn't even look at the crowd. That is how you play the motherfuckin guitar.
Strongly Agree! Though tbf I think he did look once during the improvised solo at the end of In The Name of God. This is my favourite Dream Theater show by some distance.
Wow, fantastic close-ups. So, apart from the opening and closing chords, and every other fucking note in between, I have now nailed this song on guitar.
De acuerdo contigo... no solamente es la relación método y técnica de la guitarra de Petrucci, sino su sencillez en el escenario y la capacidad de relacionarse con la banda cuando están en vivo. Saludos !
The low B notes have been played an octave higher than usual. The tuning is E standard, its just that the song has been altered to be played on a 6 string.
8:40 to 1 minute........ Petrucci & Portnoy's Masterpiece though it is a different intrumental piece by DT altogether but I cant find the full version of the mind-blowing instrumedley of the entire that Track and kinda forgot the name It had a 8 min Version of Mostly Petrucci on the Guitars and mike is in the middle for few minutes. This 1 minute is from that track I am talking about and looking for about 20 + years now as it was included in and as a DreamTheatre album's bonus track most probably "Images and Words" and I recall it was called as a "Petrucci solo" live version so until date I am talking about over 2 decades now I still cant help but make a lot of with different perspective people cause it is the Best Guitar Solo of John slashing fast to slow and melodic to being again his Heavy Metal Riff and solos Innovative mind which by far is why DT is no doubt about Metal Fusion and Musically Best and only if they wouldn't lengthen their songs unnecessarily few of their songs could've been Grammy Winning WorldwideAcclaimed And something more Prestigious than not only being th eBig and the 4(I myself prefer Metallica And Megadeth as Heavy MetalEvolution Revolutionary changing and creating sub Genre on their own right but So did DreamTheatre unfortunately kids couldn'tget high snd drunk and head bang to.a whole Track and concert of DT.Anyways if any one find the whole track as it is by far DT/Liquid Tension Experiments (both founders and best and in top 3 Respectively) John Petrucci being in G3 but still underrated as one of the best guitarist Alive and Mike Portnoy well is Portnoy being known for being the best Drummer in the world with hardly couple of competitors stealing his spot.So this is a 1 minute i could find a part of the original Petrucci's original Solo track with mike Portnoy being few minutes but it aint a song guys.So good luck finding it and some comments of idiotic knowledge less so called metal head or rock and roll music lover worth understanding shit understanding music and knowing proper history and listening to tracks and songs thse kids unfortunately dont have it on RU-vid which i see to be the only music listening platform nowadays 😉
Oh my god, 0:32 he switched into world domination mode and at 0:34 he realised that he would kill us all, so he switched it off again.... phewwwww.... I've had a 2 second nightmare to remember!
07:50 that part containes so much awesomness, that if it would come out in public radio, every pop lover would kill themself because their experience of awesomness is only about 1:1000000000000000000 as awesome as this part/song/band/gods!! Now THATS awesome!! =DDD
BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE TO DATE FROM THEM! Brings tears to my eyes thinking how excited af I was when I bought the DVD back when I was a Senior in High School. And, spending countless nights up till 3am locking myself in my room with my 7 String Ibanez hooked up to my Line 6 Pod and a ear piece in one ear and the other ear piece coming from my TV. Thanks to him, I used to awe the church boys and band practice with alternate picking, arpeggios a la Petrucci and other shenanigans. I miss those days... 😭😭😭😭
In addition, in a 3 year time frame they learned a crap ton of DT songs (they had no clue who they were before) and at around the 3rd year, we used to jam songs like Peruvian Skies, Home, 6 O'Clock, Lie, The Mirror and many others. I noticed that whenever the Music Leader at church threw new church songs at us we learned sooooo quick. Why? Dream Theater, that's why! Heck! Even the Music Leader at Church started listening to them and Holdsworth, Vai, Satriani, McAlpine, Friedman, Malmsteen, Gilbert, etc. Thing is, it's probably because I was a Southern California Skater/Surfee boy who was raised with music like DT, Rush, BOC, Yes, Danzig, Queenryche, etc who had moved into a little town in Mississippi who had NOT heard of these guys.
