You know Dream Theater is a great band when none of their fans can agree on their best work.

I am surprised because in this video, they sort of apologize for making an album like Falling into Infinity. I don't know what they are talking about, because for sure that album is not the greatest album of the music history. For sure it is not the best Dream Theater album too. And it sounds also very different from the other albums. But in THAT album there are iconic DT songs like Lines in the sand, Hell's Kitchen, Trial of tears, Hollow Years, New Millenium, Peruvian Skies, Anna Lee, Burning my Souls! I mean maybe I named all the songs in the album LOL Yes the other 3-4 tracks that I have not named, are that kind of tracks that Portnoy is complaining about. That kind of songs written "to satisfy the industry". And honestly we all felt that at the time. But the other songs are LEGIT Dream Theater songs!! It was just a different Dream Theater album, but it was GREAT. In his own way. And I always liked that album from the first day. I never understood all the criticism about that album, still today, more than 20 years after it came out. Anyway we had almost another 20 years of Dream Theater after this anniversary! This is amazing!

This documentary was made for Octavarium, their 8th album. Now, Mike Portnoy is back in the band and they’re working on album #16! I would love to see another Documentary like this detailing Systematic Chaos and Black Clouds & Silver Linings, and then the Maningi era, and then Portnoy’s return and their latest album with him!

Both have changed profusely, but I think Rush, considering they're like 10-11 years older than DT, they've changed more than this band. Bottom line, both are awesome. This is just my opinion, but I'm open to differences and other opinions

yeah! Rush fans! I'm glad they settled on James Lebrie, I love his voice. All of them are masters at their craft. My personal favorite album is Train of Thought.

Nice to see the beginning portion with emphasis on the three founding members (Portnoy's spirit is missed), and thankfully no angry granny wailing to be heard in this doc.

I saw their concert yesterday in Korea and I achieved one of my life goals. It was fucking amazing.

The first concert I'd ever been to was on this tour and to this day it remains the best concert I've ever been to, even though I've seen loads of great artists since then such as AC/DC, Iron Maiden, and Kanye West (and Dream Theater 4 more times).

IMO, the greatest prog metal band of all time. Dream Theater is like the perfect storm of musicians. I've only seen them live once, but it was a dream concert for me. To see two of my favorite bands tour together, Dream Theater and Queensrÿche, was nothing short of amazing. The only thing that could have made it better would have been to see the 1988-1991 version of Queensrÿche.

I remember the first time I heard "Pull Me Under" on the radio, and I thought to myself, "Yes! Finally a band who will save rock from the destructive non-ability of Kurt Cobain."

I've heard people say "I'd kill to play like Petrucci," "I wish I could play like Myung," "I want to learn keys like Rudess," etc. In twenty years of being a fan, I have never, ever heard anyone say "i wish I could sing just like La Brie."

And now three quarters of those fans are probably at their keyboards right now complaining about their newer stuff after black clouds and silver linings and how the astonishing is "an insult to mankind". The sad thing is, those were the most enthusiastic dream theater fans I have ever seen, probably because I have never been to a concert.

I think Scenes From A Memory, Images and Words, Train of Thought, and A Dramatic Turn of Events are their best albums. I don't know what the craze is about Octavarium, the only aspects that stood out to me are the title track and The Root of All Evil.

I've been looking for so long for a video parody from username Adam02 where he uses scenes from this documentary where Petrucci says: "Our keyboardist of the time, Kevin Moore...he didn't want to come to the Awake Tour because...he didn't like John Myung...and that was pretty weird for us because...we had no idea who John Myung was...was quite weird" xD Then sometime later they show Myung responding to "Kevin Moore's sayings" and he says: "I never said a single word to Kevin...in my entire life! Well...I never said a single word ever to the other guys either but...I'm confused...he's just...a fucked up bitch!" It's a very old video, and there are other hilarious videos from Adam02 about DT and Petrucci...but that one is now missing, I can't find it! Does someone have it?

There can't be a Dream Theater without Portnoy ....... same way there won't be a Rush without Neil Peart . Mancinni was hired just because he was able to learn the music and perform accordingly ..... note by note . Any good drummer can do that and that won't turn him into Mike Portnoy .

I love Mike's punk-influenced attitude to the music he loves making. Falling Into Infinity was certainly a low point for them, thanks to those producers. You still gotta love them.

I started to listen DT last year a few month before I saw them on the Along for the Ride tour in Europe. Since then I listen DT almost daily. People say DT is no more like it was with Portnoy. Even though I'm glad they continued to sing after Portnoy's departure.

dream theater is one of those rare bands that can be like by all people. my grandma who hates metal but she loves six degrees of inner turbulance and the count of tuscany. i love that! dream theater forever!

I'm starting a new band with a guitarist that i grew up with. Our influences are Dream theater of course and Symphony X, Circus Maxmimus too. We're making a youtube channel soon so we can star making demos, because we really love music and we will study on berklee as well. All i got to say. Dream Theater, now i can die in peace.

It's crazy how big things that happen in life don't really happen all the time.But every now and then something huge happens whether it's with history ,science, political, spiritual and now with DT musically. Not taking away from the greats lineups like journey,YES,Genesis, on and on etc. dream theater is an inspiration for prog Rock/metal.love these guys thank you to the music gods above for them. may they continue their great contribution to the wield of music. I wish I could give it more than one thumbs up. Greatest band on earth. It has everything. It's heavy, it's melodious and it's all about music. Musicianship at its very best. I wish the new drummer will be Mike Portnoy. :-

I always loved DT's music but Labrie when really good for rock/melodic stuff never conviced me completely, never liked his high register. Nowadays in concerts he can't sing even acceptably anymore but the band still kicks ass. He was great in the 90s, did a respectable job until 2006, but his voice has been getting worst even when improved some by 2011-2013. They should get rid of him already and get a new singer, there are shitload of badass ones out there.
