Beautiful work. So nice to be able to build engines at one's own pace. During the mid-seventies, when I was a 20-year-old 2nd-year pro and had just moved up to 750s from the 250s, I asked a well-known builder to put an engine together for me. The engine ran, but was down on power, so I started working on it myself. Upon inspecting the cases I noticed that he'd made two small holes in the oil gallery than runs through the front of the crankcase so as to allow oil to, I supposed, cool the pistons or to direct cool oil to the rods. Never had a chance to ask him about that, though. However, when Suzuki released the GSXR750 much was made about the 'piston cooling jets' that directed cooling oil to the undersides of the pistons, a practice that many others have now copied. Anyway, one more thing to ponder....
Dang good job. This is quite a bit of money and time. I got a donor motor to attempt something similar. Worried about parts getting here in a timely fashion.
Thanks Tim, originally I wasn't going to go this far with the motor but then I thought if I am going to be having the crank out I may aswell do what I can and decided to go the rephased direction with it. Yes parts can take a while...
Yea the bottom end is far more straightforward than the top as you just need to follow assembly instructions. The top end however can be done many ways and different specs that make it much more complex.

Yes absolutely, make sure you know where the oil way's are. I found carb cleaner was the main thing to really get it all clean followed by warm soapy water, hose piped through and blew off / through with the airline 👍
