Nice. I done the GDEMU mod a few months ago. I did get a 3D printed extended SD card tray to make swapping SD cards and access easier Also added a Noctua fan in place of the standard fan and it is much quieter. Definitely worth doing! Really good to see you back on here mate!
So jealous of your black console! -- Looks like you made great progress with carving yourself a great work space. Would love a quick peak around at the space in your next vid, if you're willing of course!
Good to see you back! I had no idea those GDEmu boards were so easy to install, I thought it needed soldering and stuff, which I'm really not very good at... I could've saved tearing my bloody hair out trying to play Powerstone a while ago and the poor old laser just wasn't having it.
Years ago I already had to replace the spindle motor in my Dreamcast. When I was playing a game I started hearing this horrible noise, and the disc tried but refused to spin, and the spindle had a lot of resistance to move. I replaced it and opened the original, one of the brushes was bent backwards. I've mainly been emulating Dreamcast just to keep from tearing up my original unit.
Damn, I hadn’t realised how much better the GDEMU is over the USB-GDROM. I’ve got a USB-GDROM in mine at the moment but it’s always been a bit flakey, I’ll have to upgrade.
Can't be ultimate without a DCHDMI mod. Also I can't believe you've done this to your D-Direct Black Dreamcast, would never do that to mine! Great vid though mate :-)

Luuverly! What I'd miss most though with these mods is the weight and the feel of sturdiness of the original console, do you know what I mean? Anyways, great to see you back!
I love my Dreamcast, so the disc drive failing on my old system is definitely a worry (still have my original console, from I think Christmas 2000). I picked up the 'Shenmue 1&2' PS4 port, so the Dreamcast won't have to run those 2 games again, those alone probably account for most of my Dreamcast play time. I'd prefer to keep my Dreamcast stock, but I imagine the disc drive will eventually fail, so it's good to know its a relatively straightforward 'plug&play' replacement. The only remaining hurdle would be working out how to rip my games.
DaveSimonH As long as you have a legitimate copy of the games, you can just find the ISOs online. There are quite a few batches of ISOs - all combined for the entire DC library is about 250-300GB. Ripping the games is a bit complex using your own Dreamcast and not really advisable especially if your drive is already showing signs of a slow death. If you still want to rip your own games, you’ll need to find an actual GD-ROM drive used for development, which is already expensive as hell.
How’d I miss this? Ahh well I found it now. Great mods! I wonder if it’s possible to remove the dust sucking evil noisy fan now the heat of the power supply and GDROM are gone?
definitely not needed if you want faster loading for 4 disc games like shenmue or similar games with some loading screen, outdated techs when we can use 1TB SD card
@@hazy33 hmm never played that one, Dreamcast is quite fun for many fighting games, soul calibur, project justice, SF 3rd strike, some like Ready2rumble, Rayman2 seems fun, I know fighting vipers, fighting force and Legacy of kain and gta2 🤔 but not that one. I grew up with snes, ps1 and skipping the entire ps2 and dreamcast, and played Dreamcast quite late. I do miss rockman X on saturn, Dreamcast not able to play saturn games because saturn hardware more complicated than ps3 for that time.
Cheers for this seems very plug and play. Good in case my Japanese Dreamcast Drive ever bites the dust which sounds like it will. I hear it can handle very big SD cards is the only issue with GDEmu.
