At the end of the Xbox 2024 game showcase I did not expect a gear game being announced and it’s a prequel. Let’s just hope this one is better than gears tactics Edit: my AutoCorrect messed me up so it said preschool instead of prequel don’t worry I changed it
I wouldn't say the Xbox showcase was great. I would say it was okay. Outside of Starfield, Doom, Gears, and Diablo, I am pretty conflicted about the filler stuff. There's a lot of woke/DEI nonsense in this showcase. So many Sweet Baby Inc titles I will not support. Dragon Age 4 looks nothing like Origins at this point - I have no idea what Bioware is doing or where they are getting their marketing/design insights from at this point. That's a huge miss, as someone who played Origins 4 times. The style, tone, genre - everything is just off completely. And you'd think we could get back to Origins too - a game that is universally loved by the fanbase - since BG3 also struck gold as well. They messed up the character model for Johanna Dark. You put some facial hair on that model, and it basically looks like a man. They need to stop with this gender-bending/androgynous crap. We also saw more DEI copy/paste 5-v-5 shooters. Yay. Not. Assassin's Creed and another game also had some really terrible frame rates. Like if you can't get 60fps on these titles, don't release them on the console, please. It's insulting to say you have the most powerful console and look at 30 fps or sub-30 fps frame rates. Just market it as a PC game. This game also has its fair share of woke nonsense to it as well, and don't get me started on the pricing. I can tell they fixed the face of the female protagonist in Fable a bit, but I still don't understand why we're not seeing gameplay, or why they have no focus on a character creator. They are still shoving their representation of what they think women should look like onto everybody. The political motivations are so obvious. Avowed, again, told us nothing new. We still haven't seen character creation or any kind of UI. Is this game not even remotely done? That's the vibe I'm getting. If it releases in 2024, I am expecting a Redfall type of situation here. It's probably going to release in late 2025. It just doesn't look finished to me. And that sucks, I love western RPGs and Obsidian, but I'm getting really bad vibes from this. I really don't like where the AAA industry is going, honestly. If it's not wokeness, it's unfinished games or copy-paste uninspired AAA game design. And since games like COD, Doom, and Gears are not for me, I honestly didn't get much from this showcase. I already knew the Starfield expansion was coming, and my guess that it involved the Va'ruun was right. I can understand if you were excited for these shooters shown in the showccase, that probably made the entire showcase for some people. But since they weren't for me, a lot of what made the showcase bad stands out more to me. PS: I don't think the Sony showcase was better. I'm saying this as strictly a PC user who plays strategy/tactical games or RPGs.
