@@NewChapterReactions I'm not saying you should check out SuA's choreo for Copycat, Taki Taki and her Tadow collab with Seungyeon of CLC but yes, actually, I am. ;)
If I remember correctly, Siyeons "Paradise" is about the time before Dreamcatcher, when they debuted as Minx and their disbandment. Again, I hope I remember this correctly, but I think it was Jiu who mentioned that during that time, Siyeon was in a deep depression, anxious that her dream of being a singer is doomed. But she quickly found new hope when they started preparing to re-debut as Dreamcatcher, and in the end, finding her "Paradise" in Dreamcatcher and her members. She even has a tattoo on her neck, saying "Paradise is where I am". This song, and Dreamcatcher as a whole, truly mean a lot to her.
So, a while ago, you asked who was the most emotional member. It's Siyeon hands down. At least outwardly. She does cry often at concerts because she's so happy to be living her dream. She was devastated when Minx ended. I believe she stopped singing. She wouldn't watch music shows. She fell into depression. "Paradise" is about that time and overcoming it to become Dreamcatcher, and now she's in paradise singing for people - for us and with her group again. She's a beloved singer -our Sing. Our Singnie 😊
The thing I've noticed most about Siyeon is how much she has changed over the years. Even though she hid it well, the early years were not a good time for her. Dedicating herself to singing rock and R&B in Korea was the hardest path she could have chosen, but she never wavered. Then came the moment during the V-1 singing competition when she sang Overdose and won second place (should have been first), and she realized for the first time that she wasn't just a good singer, but a great singer. She never looked back after that and her confidence went through roof. Now when I see her just having fun and being so happy with her life, it makes me feel very happy too. No more tears. I'm pretty sure they're working on the comeback now judging by how silent they've gone. Usually with their comebacks there's a least a month or more after they shoot the MV before it's released. They have to fit the release into the music show and variety show schedules which is harder than you think. It's very important not to go up against a very popular group during the promotion period. They also spend a lot of time polishing the choreo because they don't need to perform the entire dance for the MV. It doesn't need to be perfect, but for the music shows it must be perfect.
I think Jiu and Siyeon have both said they started slowly rn and Jiu, as always, has already hyped up the songs they recorded😂she or Siyeon said nothing is decided but it was a few days ago so they probably decided on the title by now (idk how fast they are but usually they are really quick). They also said it's not gonna be done by May or maybe even June. Since July is not that great / slow and there's the Olympics at the end of it (affects music shows) they should have a cb at the end of June or beginning of July and then promote until the end of July. DCC knows that too and VillainS was already affected by the annual winter break of music shows in December.
And they did a vampire concept for Red Sun once. The Red Sun (White Blood version) or Webtoon Singer version. One of my favourite remake version of their song.
@@untamedrose30 Well, from what I remember; the whole song is some reference to a famous old Korean hypnotist who used the phrase red sun as a trigger or something. Which actually kinda alludes to some of the choreo
Fun fact: Red Sun was choreographed by SuA, and Yoohyeon went to the recording with Pie (her puppy) and they were playing with her and she fell asleep while they were recording the video. So cute. There IS a vlog about It ❤
Still watching but after finishing Red Sun wanted to comment 2 things- One: choreo by Sua 😊 Two: Red Sun is a catch phrase used by a Korean Celebrity Hypnotist. He uses the phrase Red Sun as his 'trigger' phrase when his volunteer or patient is snapping into or out if their hypnosis or trance. So the entire song feels very much like a hypnotic and entrancing dance to lure you in to the Red Sun.
I'm 100% convinced that "Black or White" was the classiest middle finger to the K-Pop music industry. Raid of Dream EP and Deja Vu were well on their way to becoming the biggest success of Dreamcatcher's career up to that point and then "The Show" happened. From the perspective of Dreamcatcher and HappyFace, Black or White feels like such an act of defiance. "You denied us when we followed your rules (White), you criticized and cheated us when we went our way (Black). So here's whats gonna happen, we are going to go whatever direction we want and its up to you to keep up with us. Any color we want!"
I feel that way about Locked Inside a door, ironically sounds like the cool sister. The lyrics are so passive-aggressive and probably the most vocal they've been about their position in the music industry. SuA didn't actually swear but it was meant like that and you can feel the anger, she literally said f u to the kpop industry. I got goosebumps listening to it for the first time, and the fact that ASU is their most successful album and they got their first win with it was just the cherry on top.
Another great reaction you guys are one of the best. The 'Red Sun' Stage Webtoon Singer is also very good. Siyeon is in our hearts and thoughts. Speedy recovery.
I can't tell you how much I've been waiting for this reaction to come! I love this album and I really wanted to hear what you think of it, but I'm sure you'll love it! Now I'm gonna enjoy this hour with you guys!
41:22 dreamcatcher company " we got zero budget for mv " , Dreamcatcher "no problem , lets make Legendary MV ". What is Humanly impossible , Only a Dreamcatcher has that Power , to make it Possible .
I think the real reason behind that is because that's shoot in the middle of a pandemic that's why the production is like that and to make us insomnia's happy even pandemic.
It was more a matter of boredom + talent + creativity = magic. As she mentioned in the video, they shot this while doing music show promotions for Scream. Notice the different Scream stage outfits, random people walking around and so on. The Sahara MV was 'behind the scenes' shot at the different music show studios. Music show promotions consist of show up stupid early and a lot of sitting around and waiting until it's your turn to do rehearsals and perform. There is a TON of downtime. With the exception of some editing, they did this entirely by themselves. There was no budget because it wasn't even planned. It just happened because they were bored and wanted to a) have some fun b) be creative and c) do something fun for InSomnias.
This album means a lot to us Insomnias! ❤ We disclose this more than anything else in life just so that the world knew what the Dreamcatcher is made of!!! 90% of the fandom will say that Tree Of Language is your favorite album and the reason is diverse
The Tree of Language album and the Dystopia: Lose Myself album unfortunately don't have Handong, this was the time when she was in China for a show and then got stuck there due to Covid. IMO, this is one of their best albums! Red Sun is a BOP! SuA choreographed it, and there are a lot of intricate details in the choreo that you don't really get to see in the video - I gained a whole new appreciation for the choreo when I saw it in concert! Scream is actually Hear No Evil - Boca is Speak No Evil (Boca being Spanish for mouth). Also, re: the witchy vibes, the choreographer actually said in an interview that she wanted to convey like a witch hunt/witches being burned/of the devil in the Scream choreo, and then ofc we have Red Sun - so you were right! One of my favorite ATEEZ/DC overlaps is the concept of "Break The Wall" of obstacles in front of you - Hongjoong says it all the time, there's the chant in Guerilla (I think I've heard it in other songs but can't name them right off the top of my head), and then DC has the line in Tension and the literal song "Break The Wall", lol. It's so cool that Edenary really out here blessing us on both sides of the aisle. Yes, to your questions about Black or White. They also performed it in the 2022 concert and it was SO dope! Also, if you've been keeping up with them on Instagram, they've been posting photos of themselves in black/white outfits recently and it has been kind of a fun joke on their subreddit of "Black or White?" and lots of "I don't have the answer you're looking for" comments, ahaha! Dongie did do a Chinese version of Jazz Bar, and OML the recent concert clips of Jazz Bar are WILD, they be WILDIN! And Dongie is singing with them in them, ofc! Props to the staff member in Sahara who stood there flipping the light switch! In The Frozen is like Silent Night 2.0, tbh, and it's SO fun at concerts, Dami makes the audience sing "limit no more, limit no more, don't wanna give it up limit no more" with her and it's super fun! Siyeon wrote Paradise! :) She even has a tattoo that says something like "Paradise Is Where I Am" after her song! =)
Everytime I watch especially Red Sun and Black or White again, I remember when I was new to Dreamcatcher and this Siyeon made me fall in love with and want to be her at the time.
A full album that shocked me to the core was very first release by group Boston (self-titled album in late 70s)... Long time has passed until Dreamcatcher came along and provided what I believe to be best overall full length album of all time.... Not just in K-POP, but pop music in general... No one really had genre-bending album like this... Producers did amazing job and I was in awe of how flexible these ladies are with their vocal abilities... And they dance as well... Pfff... Talented much??? Dreamcatcher is music lover's dream!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Been waiting for this reaction for last couple of weeks... Glad you finally experienced it....
Scream era always has my heart as that comeback was when I discovered Dreamcatcher 🥺 Heard Red Sun and stanned immediately. Then I saw Red Sun and Sua had me hook, line and sinker forever 💜 (and then discovered she choreographed it and sent her to ult status). Dystopia TTOL is one of my favourite albums of all time, out of Kpop and western pop, it’s just so iconic!
Not many people talk about it, but the Music Bank performance of Black or White is awesome. They adopt the same match cut editing and did it very well. I'm not sure about a reaction video but definitely check it out.
"Here we go, here we go, get a mop!" #redsunmisheardlyrics 😉 There are quite a few self-made clips like Sahara. I'm looking forward to you discovering them!
This album is a complete masterpiece I'm really glad you enjoyed it as well ! Just for your information there is a stage version of red sun for the show webtoon that is even more gothic and haunting ! And a mashup with In The Frozen and BTS' Louder Than Bombs by Pawpaw which is certainly the best mashup I've ever seen/heard (not necessarily for a reaction video, it can just be for your own enjoyement 😊) Again thank you for all your great reaction videos, it's always one of my favorite moment of the week ❤
Don’t know if anyone has mentioned it, but there’s an English version of Tension! They premiered it at the Primavera Sound Festival and have also sung it during their US tours, you should see if you can find a good quality fan cam! And of course it’s OT7 as well :)
" the fall of the Raindrop , is as the fall of the Tear of the Dreamcatcher ". At the Time of the Rain Fall , Close Your Eyes , Let Every Raindrop Reach Your Heart and Make a Wish
Siyeon is the Most Powerful Vocalist ever to Exist in this World , Her Vocal Reach my Soul and Heart , she is more than Human , she is a Legendary Dreamcatcher
there's a piano version of Siyeon's Paradise, and also there are some Jazz Bar performances worth watching. you guys should definitely check them out even if it's just for you guys to enjoy not necessarily react to. looking forward for your next DC reaction
@@NewChapterReactions It can be confusing since I suppose screaming can just be really loud speaking, but it's more the reaction to hearing what people are saying.
While the Dingo version is nice, The Music Bank 200320 version is probably my favorite professionally shot version at the moment. Also for the true feeling of Jazz Bar, I would recommend watching a fan cam from some of the post-CV19 concerts… They’re something…
This album is so special to me, it's one of my favorite albums of all time. Not just in Kpop, but of all music. It's unfortunate that Dongie didn't get to participate in it, but in their Crossroads concerts we got to hear her on all the Dystopia songs she missed so there are OT7 versions of all the songs out there.
Red Sun is still my favorite Dreamcatcher song. edit: Btw, there is an awesome version of Red Sun. Dreamcatcher had a stage with Webtoon singer. Its really really worth watching 2nd edit: I recommend the Piano Version of Paradise
If you ever want to go back and see some interesting variations, I'd recommend the Music Bank version of Black Or White. It's the rare music show version I'd recommend for Dreamcatcher. They really had the production team at the show on their side that day and the ripple effect between the black and white versions of the costumes will make you marvel that they shot and edited this piece in the normal course of a show day. It's a testament to the precision with which the women can hit their marks while dancing and the computer-controlled cameras at that music show replicating the camera moves. I'd also recommend the piano version of Siyeon's Paradise. It pretty much exactly what you'd expect with a spare arrangement presenting the best voice in kpop. The song had had its release as a single well before the Dystopia album, and was likely included on the album as a bonus feature that happened to be thematically relevant.
Dreamcatcher's Scream Relay dance is the best one out there, hands down, argue with a wall, every. single. moment. is perfect and you find something new on every watch.
One of the coments reminded me of the parody on The World of the Married that they shoot during the pandemic because they were bored XD Please watch it sometime, their creativity in this is astounding: most of the girls play several characters, they recorded all of the soundtracks with just their voices to avoid copyright and it is shot very similar to the original And thanks for the video, as always loved your reactions❤
i really love the lyrics of In the Frozen, i've read somewhere its about a winter flower that struggles to live in a cold and harsh environment. It cannot one moment and miss any opportunity to survive. like holding on to dear life.
If im not mistaken "red sun" is like spell word for hypnosis in korea. There was an article saying this song is about putting someone under a spell to make them regret their mistakes and pay for their wrongdoings. So they talk about the guilty heart and such
Another cool fact about this album is that this is when more members started having writing credits on the songs. Up till this point Dami was the only one to have credits for writing lyircs on songs like "Scar" and "You And I". Both "Black or White" and "Jazz Bar" have multiple members credited and Siyeon helped write and produce "Paradise". Be sure to look out for "Dear" on the next album because it was written and composed by Jiu as a letter to InSomnia. Also, during this time, while Handong was stuck in China, DCC hooked her up with a Chinese company and she released a Mandarin language solo called "First Light of Dawn" that she wrote the lyrics to. Unfortunately, there's no MV, but here's a lyric video for it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WztTaJBB_R8.htmlfeature=shared
I'd love to see you guys check out that handong special clip! I really missed her in this album, but there's a song you haven't heard yet on that video it's from their summer holiday album the one with BEcause as the title track. It's actually my favorite dreamcatcher ballad I'm so excited for you guys to get to that album! Also if you want to check out some live versions of the songs they had a rearranged live band versions of black or white and Jazz Bar they did that for their Crossroads utopia online concert Handong is there too the concert was actually around her birthday or the exact same day I can't quite remember but I think you'll love the vocals on that, they did Deja Vu as well as a lot of other songs you've heard which as you can imagine sounded beautiful
It's a testament to just how incredibly good this album is, even with Dongie absent in China. The OT7 versions of these songs feel so complete and whole. Some more thoughts for each song: Scream: whilst the outfits worn here in the relay are beautiful in their own right, the suits... hoo boy. Also the collective gasp you both had when they dropped it in the final dance break - imagine seeing all seven of them hit it, perfectly in sync as always. And yes, Scream is the 'hear no evil' part of the trilogy ala screaming to drown out the noise and bad words. Tension: I remember reading somewhere that it was supposed to be the title track for Fall Asleep in the Mirror (Good Night), lending to it's much more rock-inspired sound. They've also been performing a full English version for the international Somnies~ Red Sun: JiU has famously said that DC is like a black hole, once you're in there's no way out. If for whatever reason you were even considering leaving this track/spell will quite firmly put any of those thoughts to rest. Also 16:43 you can actually pinpont the second Bri is caught under their trance. Black or White: as a few have said, the Music Bank version is a must watch. The girls' reaction while monitoring backstage is priceless, as well as ear-piercing so headphone users beware. Jazz Bar: something in the air and/or water when they go on tour has the girls wilding out on stage. This song is no longer an exception. And yes, absolutely watch Dongie's Chinese medley! Sahara: I think Tori is one of the first reactors I''ve watched that caught on right away to the 'literal' nature of these self-mades. Their first go at it was for July 7th, it was a shortened version for a backstage segment on Show Champion. Curse of the Spider also has a must-watch self-made, along with the others coming up. In the Frozen: the younger sibling to Silent Night, while not quite as recognised and impactful it is still a fantastic track. Also I enjoy your interpretations of the lyrics and the meaning behind them, not just here but for all the songs you listen to. Daybreak: the one doing the lower vocal harmonies is Ollounder, one of DC's producers! Along with LEEZ, they helped craft this masterpiece of an album.
For some reason hearing Paradise again reminded me of a later song Siyeon and Dami did for an OST called "Shadow". I very much recommend that song and both(!) versions because there is a slow version and it's basically a whole new song ^^" the only thing these two songs have in common are the lyrics and the title, tbh, both the instrumental and the vocals are different (The MV has zombies in it so a warning for that)
Tysm for always taking your time analyzing the lyrics and describing how each song makes you feel, I wasnt expecting this to be over an hour long but it went by so fast 💗🙏 10:52 I believe this song was originally supposed to be released either in Good Night or Fly High era, there's also an english version of it you guys can check out 17:30 Red Sun and I think Black & White as well were choreographed by Sua (im not sure abt b&w but ik red sun was) The term red sun is used in hypnosis to put someone in a trance but in this case I think theyre more like witches casting a spell to trap you 35:40 do check out her medley if you have time, I think theres only one song in there that you havent heard yet, but all songs in it are shortened versions translated to chinese so it would be a new experience either way 46:55 yes, it was all done back in the waiting rooms and halls of music shows in the middle of promoting, they have a couple more self made mvs like that and theyre all hilarious 54:59 lowkey unrelated but during this song i couldnt help but notice your cat falling asleep to their dreamy voices, so cute 🥺 1:01:04 it has been a while since I last heard Paradise but this song still gets me teared up, its a special one really. The general interpretation is that Siyeon is conforting herself, like younger Siyeon or Minx Siyeon when she was uncertain of the future/her career as they had to disband and DC was formed months later Ofc there are other ways you could interpret it but the lines in the bridge "you don't have to be sad anymore, you're always in my heart" give that kind of feeling its for her, plus iirc she does have a tattoo that says paradise is who/where i am (im not to sure on the wording)
My personal headcanon for Red Sun is the actual symbol of a Red Sun is a notification dot, and taken together with what others have said about it having connotations of hypnosis in Korean culture it's about becoming entranced or hypnotized by our devices and media consumption.
I know you've watched a lot of scream by now but you should really react to some of their dance version vids!!! Scream has a suit dance version and it is . AMAZING. there are many other dance versions as well!! I don't mean dance practices, but they would be awesome too. The suit ones..... Lemme just say that they can kill!!
Since you enjoyed Red Sun, please check out the White Blood version when you have the time. Not only is it an OT7 performance the remix to the instrumental adds to the choreography. They also have an English version of Tension that they've performed at concerts.
This album is, in my humble opinion, a masterpiece. It is an amazing display of just how versatile Dreamcatcher. I'm so glad that you have finally had the chance to react to it. BTW, Scream represents Hear No Evil, not Speak No Evil. It's about hearing the 'evil' things people say that want to make you scream. Boca is Speak No Evil. No worries though. A lot of people mix this up. I did at first too. There is a live performance of Jazz Bar that I think you should check out. It's just them sitting on stools and singing, but it's live and, as usual, the vocals are impeccable. It's from a VLive they did. Just search up 'jazz bar rooftop live dreamcatcher' on RU-vid and it will come right up.
if Her Vocal Reach your Soul , that's Normal , She is not Human , she is a Legendary Dreamcatcher , she is above wizards , angels , fairies and all beings
This video was expected to be long. Thank you for not making it 2 parts as many creator does. Fun fact: Red Sun choreographed by Sua. Sahara MV as you noticed, they literally act the lyrics out. Paradise was written by Siyeon while they were still Minx, being sad at their unsuccessful group, and she cried at night because she was not happy with the situation. That was her solo debut. This album has only one big downside, Handong's absence. I really wish they remake this album with Handong. I would buy it 100%. Otherwise, this album is chef's kiss.
You have two more self made videos on the next two albums, they are break the wall and poison love, and sadly they have no lyrics on the dc channel but if you can find a video that have both video and lyrics could be perfect so You don't miss the point of what they are doing 😂 i love dc full albums, it's a whole experience, i can't wait for your next reaction, take care :3
I love being able to experience these albums for the first time again through you guys! Your reaction to red sun was very relatable lol. Also, Paradise will always hold a special place in my heart
Tension was the original second single, but was swapped for Good Night. The songs sound similar. When they performed the song at the Festival in Spain, they sung the lyrics in English.
They did the English version during their 2022 tour also, but I don’t think it’s on Spotify so a lot of us Insomnia were confused and didn’t know the words 😭 we were used to the Korean ver.
1:01:04 the story of the Dreamcatcher. 7 beings were Born into this World, they would find each other through Destiny, and be bonded to each other Through Destiny for All Time. When 5 of them found each other they became Minx (18.09.2014), but Destiny had other plans for them and forces would separate them. But their Bond Through Destiny was so Strong that they would find each other throughout all Time , they Returned and Destiny brought the final 2 beings to the group. They became Guardians of Dreams, They became Dreamcatcher . Gifted , Blessed and Bonded Through Destiny for all Time. To be a Dreamcatcher you have to be chosen by Fate , and Blessed by Destiny with : Magic , Power , Fire and Timeless Beauty . those who Discover Dreamcatcher, Become InSomnia and never Sleep on Dreamcatcher talent
I just ran to the comments even before the video starts to tell you that i’m so so soooo green with envy because you’re listening to my favorite album for the first time 😭
Love Love 'The Tree of Language' album. Thank you for your reaction. Hope to see on the next reaction 'Break The Wall' V-Live show case stage performance. Reactions (Because you get the chance to see how they distorted their voices)
Wow thank you so much for the early dc content, its an amazing suprise! I was waiting for this reaction, its one of my all time favorite dc album, all of the songs are bangers, you can't choose a favorite!!
Tension is one of my (many) fav b-sides, and that Dami line "You’re doing great right now" (넌 지금 잘하고 있어 / neon jigeum jalhago isseo) just hits so hard. I know for a while at least the members also used to quote that line to each other as kind of an in-joke, and it was very sweet.
Very rarely I find myself loving all the songs in an album, but TToL is one of those exceptions. And it's even crazier when you think about all the different genres you can find in it. I'm glad you both enjoyed it as well, thank you for the reaction!
IMO, the dystopia trilogy is really where Dreamcatcher were able to hit their stride. They were able to keep their overall sound and vibe from their early days AND at the same time evolve it to where more eyes (and ears) were paying attention to them. These are some of their best albums, I hope you guys are ready 😝
