DREAMCATCHER REACTION DEEP DIVE - Dystopia : The Tree of Language Album 

The fact that Siyeon has written Paradise for her self makes the lyrics more understood when she says "your not alone now you don't have to be sad anymore" because after Minx's disband she found her paradise in Dreamcatcher

For Paradise, you should do the MV version and the Piano Version special clips. The Black and White version are just aesthetic differences from the MV but the Piano version is a different arrangement and it's stripped down to just a Piano and Siyeon's voice and it's gorgeous. Feel free to check out the Black and White clips though, either in your own time or as reactions. I doubt InSomnia will mind, lol. This whole album is PEAK Dreamcatcher. All their albums and songs are great, but Dystopia: Tree of Language is a masterclass in music production and vocals. I'm following some other guys who are currently going through Dreamcatcher's entire discography ranking each song and they're about to get to Raid of Dream and the Dystopia albums so I'm dreading how hard the rankings are about to get, lol. Red Sun isn't in a genre of music that I'd normally listen to but by god if it's not one of my favorite DC songs. The first time I heard it I immediately fell in love with it and then I saw the special clip that SuA choreographed and that was it, I was successfully hypnotized.

I've read "Paradise" is very personal to Siyeon, and she wrote much of it. It is about her struggles in the industry, specifically about MINX and how she felt after it disbanded, and how she found paradise in Dreamcatcher.

Full Moon and Over The Sky are anniversary songs that they added to the album. They are on the list they are just in order of when they came out. ^_^

Since you asked for warnings, let me just say: Red Sun was choreographed by SuA. You have been warned. 😉 Also, 54:36 : That's our wolfie howling for us. Paradise is about her sadness when Minx was failing and how happy she is now. She has "Paradise is where I am" tattooed on her neck. For the MV I personally prefer the regular version. There is a point where Siyeon stares right into your heart. You'll see.

Siyeon has a special talent for WHISPERING high notes.... Like how the F do you do that? If you want to actually break that dam preventing you from crying, Paradise is a song to herself about her professional journey. She took the Minx "failure" so hard, and Paradise is a song to her past self.

This album really showcased how versatile Dreamcatcher is, every song from this album was different from each other, this is why I love them so much🤣 Also Full Moon was a song gifted to InSomnias on Dreamcatchers 1st anniversary

I have been on your Dreamcatcher journey with you from the beginning and thoroughly enjoying it! Dreamcatcher is how I discovered K- Pop. This album is just a masterpiece, every thing about it is just so good and it definitely introduced dreamcatcher to a bigger audience. The only downside is handong is missing

I love that you could say “this could be a title track!” about almost every single song they put out. Tree Of Language is especially deadly in this respect, just a constant barrage of great songs… I do wish they’d rerelease it with Handong because the only way to hear these songs with her is through concerts/special clips :( The good/bad thing about Red Sun is that there are now two versions: the original special clip and the new version (white) that they performed recently on a show called Webtoon Singer. The new version features Handong and improved choreo (again, by SuA)

Yes handong wasn’t apart of tree of language or loose myself (boca) but she was apart of road to utopia ( odd eye)

Fun fact: Full Moon is the first song made for fans for their first anniversary as a group, this song has a small video and special clip, Over the Sky is the second song for fans for their second anniversary as a group and the choreography includes sign language. I almost forgot on the LightStick on the handle is written a part of the Full Moon song

Indeed, this album and the next one with Boca are missing Handong sadly, as well as a few other releases like R.o.S.E BLUE and Endless Night. She returns for Odd Eye era. Still, such an amazing album, they just don't have a bad song. SuA's choreo elevates "Red Sun" so much as well and I love "Tension" for the uplifting message and Dami's part - although small - stands out most to me.

The only possible way this album could have been better is if Handong was in it

dreamcatcher \:D/ the white/black versions of paradise had spoiler teasers for the tree of language album so I think that was the purpose for those. the regular version is the way to go for paradise.

Oh and just a little recommendation, before watching the special clips to their solo songs I recommend going through the Apocalypse: Save Us Album first just so the surprise factor will still be there for your album listen since the solo songs are also included in that same album.

Black or White is very Michael Jackson inspired, not just in message and the beat but you'll see when you get to the clip.

I got into Dreamcatcher (and k-pop in general) in December 2020 because of another music reactor who is a big fan of both DC and BAND-MAID (fantastic all female j-rock band if you want to check out something different!) and the rock vibes in their title tracks. And then songs/videos like Red Sun, Black Or White, Jazz Bar and In The Frozen made me fall utterly in love with their music! ♥ Handong missing is the only thing that's preventing this from being a perfect album! It is still a masterpiece though! And I agree with a fellow commentator, the Piano version of Paradise is the one to go in addition to the normal version. Paradise always summons the onion cutting ninjas. 😭 Siyeon has one of my fave voices in music. ♥

The Tree of Language is just so good. It's the album where Dreamcatcher just jumped on another level. The emotions each song carries, the versatility, the vocals. Leez and Ollounder created a masterpiece, each intrumental is art. I really glad you're enjoinig Deukae. The whole journey awaits you

'Paradise' is the first song that Siyeon wrote..it's a very special song for her. it's like a motivation song from her future self to her past self in the Minx Era.

ahhh! i just binged your last 2.5 days of videos haha, I've been so busy with the mamamoo concert, moving back home, and work! gonna just put all my thoughts here, and hope you see them haha- all the reactions for the past 2 days have been so great, so glad you finally got to the iconic "holding this pain" line, breaking out, and silent night! this album was such a cool project for them, and paradise has a special place in my heart, for its meaning and just how passionate Siyeon sounds in it. ofc scream, black or white, and red sun are highlights of their discography, but i think jazz bar takes it for my favorite track on this album. it's so different for them, but so cool

I totally get tearing up, even never hearing Paradise before. I cry literally almost every time i listen to it even still. You can feel how much she means everything she is singing.... If i could only ever show dreamcatcher that kind of love and acceptance, and have them know how genuine it is, (like i do when listening to that) I will have won at life.

Paradise is one of the few songs that gives me chills and makes me tear up everytime I listen to it. It just hits in the heart

fun fact: the giggle in red sun before dami's rap is actually her. she said it in her bday live one year i just don't rmr which. also! dami wrote her rap in black or white. i'm pretty sure other than maison, black or white is the only time she's gotten an entire verse to herself. and for jazz bar jiu, siyeon, yoohyeon and dami all participated in writing it. personally, jazz bar is my favourite siyeon vocal performance. it just suits her so well. i wish they'd play with this genre more, especially with handong now. daybreak is probably one of the most underrated songs but it's def one of my favourites from this album. i love that they didn't stray away from any genre.

Full Moon actually released as 1st anniversary song (2018), Over The Sky as 2nd anniversary song (2019). during the releases of those 2, there are instrumentals. I should said this since you like instrumentals a lot

'The Beginning of the End' Japanese album had their first outro on any album (that I know of). A couple more albums have some outros. 'Apocalypse: Save Us" has their only "interlude" aka as a "skit" on the album, it's kind of a get ready for the 7 solos instrumental, since it is called "The Seven Doors". For Paradise, as others have said do the original and the piano version, the black and white versions are still worth watching on your own or as reaction later down the road. "Full Moon" is their first anniversary fan song, so Dongie is technically on the album, same with "Over the Sky" which is their second anniversary song. Both have special clips.

This album is one of the best in all of kpop and i would give my kidney for an ot7 version, handong we missed you🥲 for all of the songs handong missed, they kept her in mind and decided lines that would fit her well, they just temporarily distributed her lines between the other members but they were always ready for her to come back, unlike what usually happens when a member leaves for china. For paradise special clip i recommend the regular mv because the way siyeon looks at us...woah

Great reaction as always ❤! As for Siyeon's paradise, there is 4 videos for it, original, black version, white version, and piano acoustic version. Black and white version is the same song as the original, but I would suggest hearing the piano version as it hits differently. I also think black and white version was more of a secret clue to us fans that they was coming out with a special clip for the song "black or white" hence the versions. I can't wait for the next album reactions!

Tree of Language is one of my favorite albums of theirs, I love to blast it in my car, lol. All 3 of the Dystopia albums are my top favorites, actually! You may say poor Dami, but at their concert last July, they sang Tension and she made the audience sing "badadadadadada" and she would run back and forth across the stage holding out her mic and made the 2 sides of the venue compete against each other, who could sing it louder, which I think is the point of that part of the song (audience interaction). Red Sun is one of my favorite ass B-sides ever, up there with Wind Blows, Starlight, Fairytale, Silent Night and Whistle. SuA choreographed the dance you'll see in the Red Sun Special Clip. It looks even cooler from slightly elevated above a stage (it was their 2nd or 3rd song last July at the concert and the choreo is even cooler in person)! The Black or White special clip is FIRE 🔥, the choreo is soooo Michael Jackson-inspired, just...👄👌! Art. Also, Yoohyeon straight slayed that song, ugh. They all did but Yooh, man. *Swoon* Can you imagine how perfect Dongie's voice would have been on that Jazz Bar track? Her tone is perfect for it! The Sahara MV is incredible 🤣😂 they take the lyrics literally and it's just wonderful 🤣😂🤣 If the Poison Love self-made MV isn't on your list, you have to add it, they all simp for Dongie the whole time and it's *hilarious*! (It's on the Odd Eye album, and she was finally back from China) In the Frozen is another bop at concerts! They make the audience chant "limit no more, limit no more, don't wanna give it up, limit no more!" and it's a BLAST! One of my favorite things about the instrumental is that without the voices, where your brain is expecting them, you can really get a feel for how much the vocals & layering makes such a HUGE difference in the final product of the song. Fun fact about Paradise - Siyeon has a tattoo on the back of her neck that says "Paradise Is Where I Am" in dedication to this song and how special it is to her! ❤ Edit: if it makes you feel better, I cry every time I hear Boca, lmao. And I cried during the July concert last year because I was SO SHOOK that there they were - standing on stage in front of me, the group that means so much to me, RIGHT THERE (I found them during a really nerve-racking career change where I was not confident in myself, and then really got deeper into them during the pandemic which kept me sane). It was so emotional for me, lol, which felt silly at the time, but I learned afterwards that it wasn't just me. The concert this past March was better, cuz I just scream sang and danced the whole time, hahaha!

Red Sun special clip is choreo by SuA just a heads up lol, the Black and White suits are one of my fav looks on them, suitcatcher is deadly... Jazz Bar is my fav b-side from them. But yes this album is so good, just like everything they put out.

Thanks for the video. Lol. You can just call May 2023, Dreamcatcher month. I feel like this intro really showcases what this full album is about. You can hear the some of the melodies of "Scream" in this. Also interesting that you thought of steampunk when listening to this. I can see it now. For me, it was more of a nature/natural vibe and visual. Especially if you look at the titles of most of the songs. And sort of that wolfish sounding howl at the end to fit with "Paradise" "Scream" is such a great start to the Dystopia Trilogy. I really dig the verses and prechorus in the song. It would probably be a top contender for favorite, but the chorus wasn't my jam. I wish there was more to the chorus lyrically, but I know a lot of people enjoy ths one. Also I dont' know why, but I hear "live, then die" in the chorus, lol. HanDong vocal appreciation break. I really missed her voice in this and the next album. But man when she came back and sang some of the OT7 versions of this song. It just completes them so much. Please whenever you have time, watch the OT7 version of this album. There's no studio releases, only performances. But they are worth it. She sings some parts you would not expect. "Tension" is the callback track to their older songs. Which makes sense because this was a contender against "Good Night" for second title track. The girls usually preform this as an encore song to pump up the energy in them and the audience at the end of the night. And this is where the track shines and delivers. Makes it one of my favorites. When you hear them perform it live, it's so infectious and a perfect encore song, especially with live band. "Tension" also has an english version! Another recommend to watch if you have time, no need to react. "Red Sun" through it's instrumentals gives me a very witchy Halloween vibe. Also I can imagine a red sun with this song. I really enjoy when DAMI comes in with her rap in the first verse. I would even say more than in "BOCA". It makes me wish she raps more in the first verse than in the second, lol. Also another lyrically empty chorus, but I am okay with it. Because that SNAP killed me. It was so satisfying. Even with the warning, seeing you react to this one was a treat.I think I heard a stutter in your voice when bringing up the special clip., haha. "Black Or White" feels very old school to me. The funk and the MJ homage with the violins and the bass. How can I not like this song? DAMI flow in this rap is so good. Not to aggressive and just very on beat. She even wrote it. And it's the whole second verse too. So good. Another top favorite of the album for me and their whole discography. Especially with HanDong. She gets quite a few lines in the OT7 version of this. When I saw them perform it for the first time, I was like dang they giving HanDong a big part of this song, lol. Happy to hear you like this one. "Jazz Bar" is definitely out there. While a warning is deserved, I didn't know if you'd like the song or not. It's a very unique, but such a DC song is how I'd describe it. I think everyone brought their vocal talent to this one because they all sound amazing. JiU and Gahyeon using their lower voice and chest just fits. DAMI of course on the higher end, which is pretty funny, but just fits the song. SuA's voice exudes "Jazz Bar". It so silky and sultry. Siyeon shows just how her voice is a chameleon and how she can use her raspiness to fit the song. And then Yoohyeon's clear one and her adlibs. So nice. Can't wait to see you react to HanDong's OT7 and Chinese version. "SAHARA" is also one of their songs that bring up a visual imagery. Not only is the song vibe feel very hot, but I can also imagine a desert. While not a favorite cause of the empty chorus, it's still a good song. The autotune on DAMI's rap is very interesting since they've only done that a couple of times on their songs. What do you think about it? Yeah, their self made MV's are very distracting, haha. I would definitely recommend a rewatch with the lyrics on this time. So you can see how literal their MV is, lol. "Into the Frozen" is like "SAHARA" for me, but in the opposite. The song feels very cold but also sounds very icy. I think it's the pianos lol. I don't know how to describe it haha. But it also makes me imagaine very ice places like in the "Scream" MV. Also not a favorite because of the empty chorus. But I know it's a favorite for a lot of people lol. "Full Moon" is probably my favorite fan song. Sometimes "Reason" tops it, but it's been a favorite track in their discography for a long time so it keeps coming back. The pianos, the violins, the everything. Also, the choreo is so good. I don't know if you recognized HanDong's voice in this one, she gets few lines. Which is why, "Reason" tops it sometimes. The line distribution and song for "Reason" is just better and showcases Dreamcatcher talents as they are now. "Full Moon" came out in 2018 before "YOU AND I" and "What", so that year is a very hard year to top for me. Lol. "Daybreak" is my favorite track off the album. The imagery of twilight or the sun rising I get when listening to this song is strong. The raps, the melodies, the R&B beat, the everything. It's a full package song for me. And I admit, I am a bit biased towards R&B songs. Lol. And very impressed by Yoohyeon's runs. Her voice fits R&B so much. I need more Yoohyeon vocal runs in my life haha. This song is a full package for me. I'm so sad that there's not a lot of performances for it. There's a couple and even one OT7 version, but it needs more. "Outro" , like the intro, I get a very nature/natural vibe. It's very chill and a nice top off for the album, while still being a nice transition to the "Scream" instrumental and "Paradise". It has various bits from the album song as well. The "Scream" instrumental has a lot going through it. Definitely needs several listens to to get all the details. While not my favorite instrumental, it is up there for me. You can tell how much Siyeon has put in "Paradise". Just the emotions in her voice elevates and makes the song. She makes you feel so much in her song. When she goes into her head voice during the bridge, it's hard not to hear the talent in her voice. The album is THE album for a lot of fans. And you can see why. I mean just look at that track list. It's really a perfect first full album for them. I would've said it was album of the year for me. It's full of visual and auditory imagery and very cohesive. From the "Intro" to "Paradise" it just takes you on this journey. It's still probably top 3 as well for me. If only it had HanDong. At least they have an OT7 version of most of the songs.

This album is the one that Made me insomnia. Like after Red sun we got black or white and the Jazz bar who is this so good. Like I didn't even know anything about the member but I was drawn to them purely from their music. Such a versatile artists and discography Also the special clips from some song definitely worth checking out

If they ever re-release this album with handong in it, I will absolutely go feral

So many good songs but Jazz Bar is the stand out for me. Love the bridge part where Dami’s vocal tone is on full display.

Paradise is a very personal song as the inspiration was her feeling between the redebut and minx’s lack of success; her neck tattoo “Paradise is where I am” was inspired by the this song too. She wrote it along with composed or arranged. I do love the 4 different mvs- 3 with the original track: original, white, black and then the piano version.. I wish that piano version had been on the single. This into is my favorite into. Live the violins and the piano. It feeds perfectly into Scream. Dami’s scream rap and just the rapline in general. I am so happy we now have OT7 versions of all or almost all of these songs via live. Tension, they have performed an English version. Siyeon’s high note at the end.. the vibrato.. Red sun.. DC’s version of sexy. Vampire queens.. thanks for the choreography SuA... Love JiU’s little high note. In the Frozen is in my top 5 DC b-sides. Jazz Bar, I love the jazzy feel and sometimes in live versions Yoohyeon will really go jazz on it with some skat adlibs. Black or White, I love its funky beat and Siyeon’s high note. Sahara is also really good.Daybreak is basically the ballad. Full moon is the only track that has Handong because of when that song was originally recorded as it’s the first fan song from 2018. Over the Sky is only in the physical version but it’s a very good song and I love the choreography. This album sadly does not have Handong, but it’s my favorite overall album as basically all of the b-sides are somewhere in my top 10 DC b-sides. My second overall album would be End of Nightmare, Road to Utopia is 3, Save Us is 4 and Raid of Dream is 5.

I prefer Siyeon - Paradise piano version because you have already listened to the regular version.. so I think the piano version will be more refreshing because maybe you will feel 1 song with a different version. 😊😊

The physical album is 14 tracks and includes Over The Sky. Full Moon and Over The Sky as pointed out by another person are Anniversary Songs. They are for year one and year two. Handong is featured on these tracks due to the songs being older. Unfortunately, all streaming platforms do not feature Over The Sky which may be due to Copyright or just missed off off in error. You must have taken the listing which shows the streaming tracklist and only the 13 tracks.

Btw that's not a request, that's an order and it WILL change your life😳🙈 Oh and Full Moon is their 1st anniversary fan song, it was a digital single they put on the album, also that's why Handong is on it. Kinda nice that a part of her is on that album. Same with Paradise, it was a digital single released before this album.

Minx had five members (JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Yooheyon, Dami) and their concept was completely opposite of Dreamcatcher's concept (the mainstream cutesy/sexier type concept). But they couldn't do very well as Minx that time (Minx songs were good, the girls worked very hard but they couldn't standout much because the company was small and there were way too many groups doing this concept) that's why they re debuted as Dreamcatcher (with 2 more members: Handong and Gaheyon) on 13 January 2017 with Dark/bold concept and Jpop inspired rock sound. There were two entire albums during which Dongie was MIA; this one for Scream and the one for Boca but she was back for Odd Eye and that album (and everything since). Plus, she has had some solo side-stuff going on where she has basically done the work that she missed out on while she was away. She has translated some of the versus of various DC songs from Korean to Mandarin. This makes the market for DC even bigger and it really cements Dongie as an indispensable member of the group. :)

Fabulous reaction Rogue! I always think about the team who makes their music and how lucky they are to have seven talents like Deukae, knowing they really can sing anything. It must be fun for them. What I would give for a behind the scenes documentary for how they put a DC album together. This album still has such a hold on me. Scream was when I discovered DC. When I heard Red Sun come up on my Spotify I was done, they absolutely had me hook, line and sinker. If you’re in for more pain, Sua choreographed the Red Sun special clip 😏 Black or While also has a special clip 😉 They promoted with these two songs as well, so there are live stages for both. The B sides on this album are just magic. Almost all my favourite B sides are on this album. Jazz Bar (I will NEVER shut up about how much I adore this song and I need more songs like this from them), In the Frozen (it is absolute perfection and I’d drag my elder millennial behind to a club again just to dance to this), Black or White, Tension, Sahara... Plus Siyeon’s Paradise solo 😭 I always forget about Full Moon and Daybreak for some reason but your reaction reminded me how good they are. Ah they are just the best 😭❤️.

"outro" in Apocalypse Save Us actually like interlude to solo songs. from Summer Holiday, there's no official instrumental title track. but anyway based on how good dreamcatcher instrumentals, there are many channels doing vocal clearing to make instrumental

I think I’ve mentioned it before but you should watch the Music bank version of black or white as well. Some people still like the official version by dingo, but I will swear by the Music bank versions impeccable editing

regarding dami's line or lack of as some point out, her line in tension is perhaps the most iconic line in all of dreamcatcher's discography. the members have repeated that line more than any other line in any other song. it something like 'you're doing great right now' which is something they said they would tell their past selves as well as their fans even when things don't seem to go your way. so in the future if you are feeling down, just think of dami's line in your head and think of all that you have instead of what you don't.
