Joe Frantz takes Brandon Novak back to Baltimore to see how Novak used to live on the streets as a drug addict. With Bam Margera. Directed / Produced by Joe Frantz
According to Novak during that filming session he and Frantz got jumped by this guy Novak stole $8,000 from and his friends. They beat Novak up badly and threatened Frantz not to intervene. They both managed to get away before it got out of control. Years later, when Novak got clean for real, he called the guy up to apologize. The guy accepted his apology since he himself had a problem with alcohol.
i have a copy of his book, his stories are just unbelievable! Hard to believe a man went through all that, and the way he describes the mind of a drug addict is very well done. I dont read much books but this one was really hard to put down. I strongly recommend it!
So sad i knew this dude when he was just a kid and started that stuff went from pills to dope working dead end job at a resteraunt in little italy baltimore md. Good luck dude!!!!
People think heroin is chic, it almost always ends up like this. With nothing, rehab or death. The ones I knew lost everything and friends and family would hide every valuable upon their entry..sick. But, those who start always think they are somehow different and they won't end up like that, heroin has other ideas and heroin always wins.
It's funny how every Junkies experience is different. If it was Legalized and overseen by Licensed professionals people wouldn't have to endure such tragic happenings. Heroin is actually safer than methadone, but the government profits from that cheap shit, so it's redundant.
Brandon novak is the shit. At least he's man enough, no matter how embarrassing to share his story. I gotta order the dreamseller doc soon as I get the cash
Wow... heartbreaking, it really is! He should wake up every morning and just watch this and remind himself to keep going and stay strong, like inspiration.. really hope he gets better!
Can't stop watching cause its really sad, I feel for Novak. The problem is, now he's getting rich and famous because of his disease, like the producer Joe Frantz said, he got fame from doing nothing but being a bum and doing drugs. He's got cash now, his friends are rich (Bam etc.) THAT makes it even harder to control himself. He HAS rebounded AFTER this book was made, and it delayed the film of DreamSeller (apparently there was going to be a film)... Since hes got cash, who knows the outcome.
Novak, despite his background and the hard journey i do like him, imean he could of been a famous skateboarder because he is a good skateboarder. Bam has been a really good friend to Him. Novak, your awesome don't give up!!
Love your work frantz. But he was no ex-junkie here. Coming from someone who once lived that live. And he had the H voice still. Also thanks for remastering the best movie ever and cky series. Watchdctv.com for you free week trial
You'd be surprised. I remember reading about this girl that used to be a prostitute and she was talking about how a guy would pick her up and more times than not, the guy would have a wedding ring on and car seats in the back.
@STORMCAT06 An addict is an addict no matter what walk of life they come from. From the rich who have support systems, can access detox and rehab, can pay for good doctors to the poor who walk the streets, have no one, no access to healthcare. Addiction doesn't discriminate, they are all fighting the same battle and in turn living the same miserable existance where only one thing matters; the drug.
I really hope that Novak keeps his shit together. I've buried 3 friends in the past 5 years because of that HORRIBLE Devil shit..I don't want his friends and family to feel that kind of pain
Yo Joe Frantz, first of all, great video & sorry for my bad english, I'm german.. I know that's a tall order, but would it be possibly for you to give me the audiorecording from this part 4:58 - 5:13 withouth Background Music.. I would definitly like to use it for an upcoming track of mine which has to do with drugs, addiction etc..
the sad thing to me about this book was his best friend Scott. Who died of an over dose of heroin that he was supposed to deal for one of his buddies or something like that. And brandon didn't want to be apart of that anymore and saw how scott was just torn to shit, and then he was taken to the hospital and Brandon went to go visit him and they sad he had left and it turns out that he had run off to get his next fix and ended up dead..
the addiction wasnt his fault, no one can quit easily. the temptation got to him and empowered him, its not his fault that he got addicted but he should have known what was coming
I think that he has only 2 options, he can either leave his old life behind him, move to another continent and devote his life to doing something that makes him happy or bury his own grave.
I've seen some people that after they became junkies, their face started drooping.... so maybe he did some permanent damage doing other drugs. Not all junkies stick to one drug, they usually do others if they cant get their drug of choice.
I do drugs and still hold a full tim job. It just depends on the person and the situation they're in. But most seem to eventually fuck themselves over, and all it would take for me is an accident or some jail time, and my life would be shit in a flash.
um not sure if you noticed but 26 is pretty young since most healthy people live to be at least 70 most of the time.you still have 44 years until then so therefore timewise you are young and so with your logic you are young and dmb as you would put it.
I really understand brandon novak, when you doing drugs so many fucking times until one day you can't take it anymore you have to stop, to die our to quit using, that's the really fucking hard time a heroin addict goes throw, also there is a methadone clinic, he could have being clean for years. (SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH)
The bookies should start a bet on how long will it take for Novak to overdose. I'll put a hundred on him on finally kicking the bucket on January 11th, 2011. Still got a year in him I think.
