I transport train crews & when we cross the bridge,if there is a towboat & barges passing,Ill explain the lights. Dredges at night take a lot of talking.

It blew my mind how shallow a large portion of the river actually is. There are deep spots in bends, but a lot of areas average only 20ft or so

Yep, there’s a lot of deep holes out there off the dikes and in the bends that will go upwards of 100ft with the water this low but there’s a lot of bad areas less than 9ft deep. Along the Tennessee bank, on the other side of the Jadwin, some of it’s 4ft deep.
