This video will help you make the decision if the Dremel Stylo+ 2050 is the right rotary tool for you. In three minutes I will tell you everything I know, like, and do not like about the Dremel Stylo+.
This way you can make an informed decision if the Stylo+ is a good tool for the tasks you need it for.
This video will also act as a review for the Dremel stylo+.
I generally recommend getting the Dremel Stylo+ if you know you only going to be using it for very light tasks. But generally, if it is within your budget I would recommend getting a more powerful and versatile rotary tool like the Dremel 4000 with the flex shaft.

Think motor coil and small package. You shouldn't think of it as for cuting stock. Or chunk removal. Get a knock-off Brand Fordom flex shaft fr around $120-140.00. Then get this one. For control and detail ... .. . a leash holds you back, this one is like holding a pen. When painting you have a wash brush wide and perhaps a riger brush for details.

I’ve been using a dremel 3000 for years, and bought a flex shaft to do detail work but the flex shaft broke shortly after getting it. That is why I’m getting this little dremel stylus, just for detail work, and I’ll use my 3000 for everything else.

I’m new to Dremel and just got a Stylo plus. Are all Dremel bits universal for all Dremel?
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 2 месяца назад
Hi. Yeah, all bits that are meant for rotary tools will fit in this. As long as it has a 1/8" (3.2mm) shank or smaller. But the Stylo will not be effective with all bits, like for cutting metal and tougher jobs. The Stylo+ is very good with light work detail bits, like for example engraving glass, or sanding tight spots.

I wish I had watched your video before I bought this. I haven't used it yet, but I can see that it does have weak power. I use my dremels for wood carving and small lapidary stuff. I will use this tool primarily to get layout lines started and then switch to more powerful tools. Great job on the video!

@rotarycrafts8760

I don't think so, most of the smaller ones don't really have that much power. A normal Dremel with a flex shaft is the best option there I think.
@Rohnon
@Rohnon 10 месяцев назад
I'm split. On one hand I think this Dremel would be great, since I want to get it for miniature Building and I think with this one I could drill out gun Barrels and carve away Parts. On the other hand I don't know if it would be tedious with larger pieces... But on the other Hand precision is more important than speed, I guess
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 10 месяцев назад
You could also get a larger and stronger model like the 3000 or 4000 and attach the flex shaft. It is almost as good for precision as this one (the thick cable can sometimes steer it a little bit), but you do not loose much power. + you can use the attachments with the larger dremels.

@@rotarycrafts8760 OMG Wow you’re fast! I’ve never used a Dremel before. I have no collection of attachments. The user manual is very thick and confusing. Hello, thanks for the video - do you know if this would this be suitable/powerful enough for drilling 1mm holes in 0.5mm thick copper sheet? Thanks!
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 11 месяцев назад
Hmm. I think it would be able to yes. But it's not the quickest. If it is just a couple of holes you are drilling it will be fine. But if you are going to do alot of hole drilling in copper sheet it might be worth getting a more powerful one. It could also good idea getting something like the workstation that turns your Dremel into a drillpress, this makes it much more pleasurable to drill and the drill bit will have less chance of breaking. (The workstation does not fit with the Stylo+ though)

Can I use it to engrave words on a stainless steel sheet?
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 2 года назад
Yeah. I believe the stylo could be used for that. As long as it is just for surface engraving. But if you wanna remove some steel with in your engravings and cut some grooves you would need something more powerful like the Dremel 4000 with a flexshaft. Dremel Stylo has good rpms but not alot of torque.

Perfectly well explained and I second your comments about the lack of power of this tool but you're right, it excels at what it's designed to do which is engraving and small bit drilling. I just bought a RYOBI ONE+ 18V Brushless Rotary Tool which resembles a Foredom rotary tool. It does good precision work like the Dremel Stylo+ but with 18 volts of power. The hand tool is a little bit bigger and heavier but still easy to work with. Thanks for the video.
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 Год назад
Thanks :) I didn't even know ryobi had a roary tool. I have to get my hands on it someday. If it is simalar too the stylo+ but with more power it must be good. Would you recommend it? Can you use a little bit of pressure before the motor stops?
@flashcraft
@flashcraft Год назад
@@rotarycrafts8760 Well, it's a fairly new tool and the hand piece is a little bit larger than the Stylo+ and you are working with a flexible shaft as well but I would recommend it. I tried to cut a piece of plastic with the Stylo+ and it bogged down repeatedly but the RYOBI has a lot more power. It's called the RYOBI ONE+ 18V Brushless Rotary Tool and I bought it from Home Depot in a kit with 3 batteries for $199 on October 30, 2022.

Hey I bought this one last week and have a lots of problems with it … I wanted to cut thin sheet steel but it overheads so quick and stops every time when holding down on the material a few seconds … This tool is really annoying. Do you know a better option, but with the same size ? 😄
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 2 года назад
Hi. For cutting steel you would want something more powerful. I use the Dremel 4000 with the flex shaft attachment when cutting metal. This allows you more power, while the hand piece is still quite small. It will be able to cut through thin metal sheets, screws, bolts and so on without stopping that easy. And if that is not powerful enough, you should just get an angle grinder :)
