Actress and style icon Drew Barrymore gives us an exclusive beauty tutorial for re-creating the kinds of legendary looks she sported in the 1990s, using her very own Flower Beauty line. And she does a selfie at the end! Watch and learn!
rtc7788 Ok, so? People do 20's and 40's style makeup and I really doubt the people doing those were born back then. That's why we have pictures so people can see what others wore and base a tutorial off of it
oceana311 Which would make it not as legit as someone who actually was part of that generation. You could have someone emulate what they see in photos, or you can have someone who actually was doing makeup in that era. Which is more authentic? Would you rather have someone who actually swims teach you how to swim? Or would you rather have someone doesn't swim but watches video of people swimming, teach you how to swim?
luckyDancer100 it's still mine. I don't think a classic red lip has ever really gone out of style. I do think the biggest problem people have is getting the right color of red. If it swipes out pink or yellow I can't wear it. I need the cool based blue red.
Lipstick on the cheeks. That takes me back to when my mom was teaching me how to do make up :) Also, I think she only did one eyebrow. Drew being cute again
Maggie P i love to use lipstick as a blush, love the creamy-ness of it 😁 also way cheaper and you can use your favourite lipstick color, to me that's the most practical thing you can do with any makeup tool
Now THIS is a REAL 90's makeup tutorial. She is real, she's a real 90s rockchick i love her so much. Love 90s fashion, always did. But also annoys me 15 year old kids with all their ''neogrunge'' looks all of the sudden lol.
+Liszle love your comment i'm 17 and I'm not a 90s kid but I am sick of kids wearing just over the top fake grunge look it's not real, I grew up watching a lot of 90s shows and movies mostly because of my brother, he was a 90s kid, but kids now try to have 90s fashion tastes when it's really not, maybe late 90s but not early- mid the really hardcore 90s. Seems like late 90s was early 2000s to me very similar. This video was so real. finally I'm not the only one annoyed with the neogrundge looks kids are wearing.
+Alexis VM history repeats itself we update fashion and technology and other thinks every day and every decade. We are constantly building off each other, for instance converses were founded in 1908 and were known has a sport shoe now they are casual shoes to walk around in.
I was born in 1980...I was a teen all through the 90's. I loved drew! I would get told often I looked like her..although I never really saw it lol. I did the waterline..and the lipstick blush..AND A TON of powder to matte that skin ALL UP! This really takes me back!
This is 90s. I wore Revlon Toast of New York lipstick and matte skin. 90s was a rebellion to 80s bright colors. Everyone wore brown based everything. I think it still looks beautiful and honestly I have to have dewy now and I add more corals ,but I still wear some of these colors right now. I think MAC Twig and Retro still are perfect.
cindy pruitt I use to have that shade in High School myself Toast Of New York was my sophomore year in 1995 that shade put Claudia Schiffer on the map for Revlon. I also had Raisin Rage, and Moon Drops in Cinnamon, which put Cindy Crawford n the map too.
cindy pruitt I also had Blackberry shade. and Naturally Nude later on in 1998, 99 era. I missed the 90s Revlon is still the best at their Lipsticks, and Glosses too. oh and Rosewine was also my going out look. in 1999 when I turned 21 as legal to drink, lol
I LOVED drew during the 90s. Her hair was adorable & she inspired many of us to rock pretty lingerie instead of tank tops. She was everything feminine that I loved. She might have been my first girl crush! It's so fitting that she would have moved into the realm of beauty & she's doing a great job.
Brick red. Thank you Drew, for my whole life I have been trying to figure out the one thing about the 90's look that made ladies look like a natural angel, and you pointed out. Thank you!
I remember that we used to put concealer on lips with dark edge and also we used to put eyeshadow just In one shade- colors like Blue, green and even pink
cindy pruitt preach! Omg, could you imagine false lashes in high school? I barely had time to do the basics. That was, and still is, for special occasions. No way in hell I'm doing all that on the daily.
What's awesome (and gave me a little chuckle) about this is I was googling pics from when I was in high school (late 90s) and one of Drew Barrymore came up. This is EXACTLY how how her makeup looked! Like, when I had looked at the pic, it looked to me like she had taken powder over her eyes and I thought to myself, "Did she really? Or is it just photography back then or something?" As she says in this video, she most certainly did! I love that she literally didn't change a thing. ❤ Thank you for sharing, Drew! This was giving me all the nostalgia. 😊
How I miss the 90's, I am still a fan of Drew! She is just flawless and Amazing. How I feel bad for the younger generations that missed out what my generation got to experienced growing up. We had the 80's and 90's. Now the kids these days are reliving the 60's,70's,80's, & 90's era. Even my daughter says she wished she was born in my generation lol.
Btw your daughter says she wished she grew up in the 90s has nothing to do with you whining about how great the 90s were no? Also if your child is not allowed to be a kid or isn't having a childhood it's bc YOU are a shitty parent! Kids are how they are nowadays bc of the adults who raised them! Accountability starts with YOU!
Yeah, this is totally legit 90s and how things were done back in the day. The look is on point for the 90s, too. And it is from one of our rocker-alternative-grunge 90's It Girls at that.
I personally loved her look during an interview when she was 15; blonde bed head, black blazer, and literally nothing but red lipstick on. She was GORGE 👌🏼
I like the way she just says "a brick red lipstick" or whatever and then lists the exact products at the end, instead of name-dropping brands all the way through like the exact brand of pencil liner is important...
This is so crazy. I was looking up 90's makeup today, and I was thinking that I wished Drew Barrymore had a tutorial out there, and this just popped up on my wall.
Love this look, she's right that muddy red, really makes her eyes pop and contrasts with her ivory complexion making everything stand out, she looks beaut.
I was a teen in the 90s, but didnt used too much make up, just eye liner and if I went out, a red or red-violet lip color. Its true, we didnt make up so much, and if we do... it shows it. It wasnt like now look like: "I dont use anything", but I used lot of things... lol. I still dont use too much make up, but I am learning a lot with this tutorials on you tube. Drew look incredible , I want that fluid eye liner.
Drew has never gone out of style. She has always felt like that BFF you've known forever. I may be a few years older than her, but she was always my idol.
Aww i love this video.Drew is so cool and beautiful.i was born in 1982,and i've been watching every of her movies and also resect what she has been doing.
In the 90s basic women in my country just started wearing makeup (as a factory worker wasn't a beauty standard anymore) and I think she's really the one who should give advices, since there are tutorials made by too young people
I started wearing makeup in the 90s and I still do the same eyeliner trick and I ALWAYS go for the matte powder finish. I carry one in my purse and have a backup powder in my car! Lol
I love how she has that hair look like a blonde surfer girl without using any products and just mess it up with her fingers. Drew is such a natural beauty.
Drew, as a 90s baby myself you did a true 90s makeup look. My teen years makeup looks were definitely done the same way. Matte powder was used all over the face, yes even the eyelids. I too, miss the true brick red lipsticks. Your 90s makeup look was on point! Great job!!
Awww i loved this !! Love the 90s look, grew up seeing a lot of it esp how my mum and auntys would wear their makeup. I'm a 90s baby so I never got to rock the looks back then ofc but I know for sure I would've loved being a teen/young adult in the 90s :D
i LOVE she does the lipstick rouge! whenever i do my lips, i wipe around the line with my finger and put it on the apples of my cheeks then hit it with a lil powder. best blush ever
Omg she's the perfect person for this 😍🤗 SO nostalgic for me BC I grew up in the 90's and she was the classic 90's face and rocked it the best! Love this omg hehehe
