Drew Carey opens up to KCBS' Suzanne Marques about the death of Bob Barker, reflecting on the iconic game show host's TV legacy. Barker died in his sleep on Saturday. He was 99. 'The Price Is Right' airs weekdays on CBS.
I had the fortune of my kindergarten being just afternoon (12:30pm - 3pm) and my babysitter loved that show, so I saw it every weekday. 😊 But it was incredible and Bob Barker was one of a kind!
Bob Barker was essentially a TV grandpa for the kids who tuned in to episodes of "The Price is Right" during the days they were home from school due to being sick, there was a teachers in-service day, or if it was during a holiday break or for the summer. Those kids would tune in to their local CBS station just to see Bob Barker and hear his familiar comforting voice.
I sooo love how he kept with Bob's traditions, his views. DIDN'T make a bunch of major changes right off the bat which experts did say WOULD damage the show if that were done. I wish Drew many many more years of success on TPIR
Rest In Peace Bob Barker. Appreciate his role as a legendary game show host, kindhearted human being, thoughtful animal rights activist, all around nice guy. Seems he will be missed by his family, friends, coworkers and fans, the highest hope he is happy in Heaven.
Bob Barker was my daytime "father". I grew up with him. My mom loved to watch The Price is Right everyday from 11 to noon, 5 days a week!😃 I was born in 1972, so I’m the same age as TPIR. 😊 I still watch the show today. I love Drew! He had big shoes to fill and he did it marvelessly!! But Bob WAS The Price is Right, I’ve learn alot from him and watching the show growing up. Today, I speek almost perfectaly english because of it!!😂 Thankyou dear Mr. BOB BARKER, you meen more to me that you will ever know. Rest in Love, Light, Joy and Peace.❤
There will Never be Another host like Bob Barker; he Knew how to make the contestants feel like they were Special & they loved him for it, you could tell! Thanks for all Great memories of watching Your show & making Us feel as if you were a Part of our families every day, Rest peacefully Bob, You'll be missed!
💯👍 Bob modulated his voice and put drama into his hosting, not just lamely standing there reciting a script. Old school game show hosts were pros at what they did and Bob was the best.
@chrispeplinkski7306: I remember Dian Parkinson, Janice Pennington and Holly Halstrom(sp)as "Barker's Beauties." Oh!, I remember Kathleen Bradley as well. She was the only Black woman who was a "Barker's Beauty."
@@cocoafemme47 lanisha Cole was another black model. Claudia Jordan as well. Gwendolyn Osborne too. I know Janice Pennington the longest model did an interview regarding bobs passing.
@@chrispeplinski7306 And to expand on the minority trend, Manuela Arbelaez is the first and only Hispanic model on the show. They continue to be referred to as Barker's Beauties, even though Carey has hosted since 2007.
Binging the old episodes on Roku. Such wit and charm even when you could tell some of the contestants were driving him nuts! Always seemed to be lots of laughs when things did not always go as they should. Legend.
I just love Bob Barker. If God would only create more humans like him. Thank you Bob for all the animal advocacy, to make this world a better place. Rest In Peace my friend.🫶🕊️💗
Bob Barker was a huge part of our childhoods during sick days or holidays off from school. Thank you Bob for the best memories you gave us. May you rest in peace.
55 years old grew up to Price is Right and still watch the show. No matter what mood your in Bob Parker had us smile !!! Bob Parker turn the frown upside down !!! RIP Bob !!!!
Bob must have known what he was doing when he picked Drew to take over as host, and although Drew is a great host, he will never be Bob. Rest ln Peace, Bob Barker!
Bob had nothing to do with choosing Drew. The show had new brass and producers and wanted to change things up. Rich Fields was a fantastic replacement for Rod and yet he was fired for no good reason a couple seasons after Drew took over, as well.
Think of how much Barker had to remember to run that show...no cue cards. (similarly, Monte Hall on Let's Make a Deal). Think of how many words he said on each show. And he did this until he was 83! Barker, Hall, Kennedy, Cullen, Ludden, Marshall (still with us at 96!!!), Collyer, Moore. Those are the guys in that generation who knew how to run a game show and seem like there's nothing they'd rather be doing than coming into our homes day after day to involve us in the game. Yes, there's Trebek, Sajak, Dawson, Martindale, Clark, etc. that belong to the next generation, and those from the next generation after that whom we see on TV now, but those original game show hosts were very special to mine as we were growing up. We just felt so comfortable with Bob Barker on ToC or TPIR.
@@michaellovely6601 And Larry Storch as well, and Hugh Downs (all those who were on the cusp, but never got there); Frank Field of WNBC and WCBS (meteorologist and health reporter) did make it though, and passed on at exactly 100.
@@ValiantPixel Well, yes in that time is the same length for everyone; however, others seem to age faster than others due to their bad habits shall we say. He's about 5 years older than me but he looks like he could be my dad. That's what i'm talking about.
@@TheBohemianAngels Sorry I knew what you meant, I was just giving you a hard time for no reason. I agree that he has had a sudden change relatively speaking when it comes to his appearance.
The show wasn’t really “vegan” during Bob’s later years on the show. We still saw eggs and dairy products as grocery items, and the occasional luxury cars such as Lincolns and Cadillacs definitely had leather interiors.
He was vegetarian not vegan. Vegetarians don't eat any food products made from meat, fish, shellfish, crustacea (such as prawns or crab) or animal by-products (such as gelatine or rennet). Vegans don't eat any food products that come from animals, including dairy products and eggs.
Nobody can fill Bob Barker's shows or replace him but Drew Carey is probably is a good replacement I haven's seen Drew Carey's game show so I can't comment on that but I think he is great replacement.
I grew up watching the Price is Right, also I remember when Miss Universe was held at Panama 1986, when he said "Mi Nombre es Panama", saying it Spanish, like really, terrific, my respects, his scence of humor, he will be missed.
This is for Bob Barker as his honor to say “help control the pets’ populations, have your pets spayed or neutered”. This is for you, Bob Barker, god bless you 😢
His wife died in 81, when she died, he bought the plot right to her with most of the info already engraved except for death date which will be added after he died. his mom ofcourse died years ago, he has a half brother, No children with his wife, he's been with the same girlfriend 40 years, never marrying. Who will inherit Bob Barker's estate? Following the death of Bob Barker at age 99 on Saturday, assets from the former “Price Is Right” host's estate will be going to dozens of nonprofit organizations.1 day ago Bob Barker's estate to be donated to 40-plus nonprofits
They kept totally separate residences, she's a President of a big non profit. Burnet founded United Activists for Animal Rights in 1987, an animal rights group based in California. She serves as the president of the organization, which is supported by Barker. She has also served as the director of the DJ&T Foundation since 2000. Founded in 1994 by Barker, the foundation provides spaying and neutering services at a low cost. DJ&T was named after Barker’s late wife Gideon and mother Matilda "Tillie" Barker. So his gf is making bank.
Bob Barker has already said he intends to die broke. All of his fortune will go to animal rights. Thank you sir for being that most kind and amazing human being. I love you Bob Barker.🫶🕊️💗
Interesting fact I just learned: Bob Barker, an animal activist, never once on the show did they ever gave away a prize of a mink, fur, or leather clothing, and leather couches. Never had a meat (food) item that the contestant had to guess the right price. If the big prize of a pricing game is a grill set, they would use plastic vegatable shaped foods to decorate on it rather than a slab of meat
They gave away minks and furs in the early years of the show (I think one of the prizes on the first show was a mink). However, as his popularity grew and he gained more clout/power on the show, he was able to negotiate that the show stop giviing away such prizes.
The Price is Right is going to continue without Bob Barker and The Price is Right to continue with Drew Carey and the new season of 52 and the season 52 is coming out in September 20 at The Halen Studios and The Bob Barker Studio at the Halen Studios!
@@jeepthing98 Bill Cullen had a much more interesting life and career than Bob Barker despite having Polio. Mr. Cullen hosted more than twenty-five thousand episodes of TV, and radio shows. He was also a pilot and a race car driver. Bob Barker hosted sixty-five hundred PIRs. Barker wasn't exactly poor with a net worth of 70 million, but it's not much compared to Bill Cullens's net worth of 183 million.
@@winniethepoohandeeyore2 in this interview Drew actually looks like he lost a lot of weight from this past season! We shall see when the new season begins this fall! But yes he does looked aged and he does have health issues!
