I'll bet 99% of Generation X and Millennials spent their childhoods on their sick days, snow days and summers watching Bob Barker hosting The Price is Right in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. I know a piece of my childhood is now gone to the great beyond. RIP, Bob.

That was very gracious of Janice to grant ET that interview. Despite the issues Bob ultimately had with her, Dian, Holly and Kathleen, it was Janice who was happy to smile about it all and say "I treasure so many memories that we made." Clearly, she has been able to come to terms with it all.

Thank God for Janice Pennington to come back into our TV lives, after over 20 years. It’s one thing to miss a true legend like Bob Barker, and I always will (especially since he was so close to his 100th birthday), but the one thing I’m also grateful for, is Janice coming back and sharing her truest feelings about Bob and the show, that she wasn’t able to do, when Barker was still alive. She still looks so beautiful, at the age of 81, and with that, I hope she continues to find peace and guidance, for the rest of her life, outside of The Price is Right, where I grew to adore her, for all my life. Peace, Janice, and Peace, Bob. 🕊️

Same here (1976). Besides summer days, sick and snow days (of which one of them was the day the Space Shuttle Challenger blew up) always included TPIR along with $25,000 Pyramid and Press Your Luck. Bob Barker and Betty White I think had a lot of things in common. They both just barely missed their one hundredth birthday. They both had great senses of humor, and their passion and compassion for animals is on another level. I think that that kind of love for animals, you would think they are both looking down and not looking up. They are dancing in heaven today.

For 29 years, Janice Pennington served as a model on The Price Is Right, handing the microphone to Bob Barker at the start of more than 5,000 shows. She also handed off to Dennis James and Tom Kennedy while the show was in syndication in 1972-77 and 1985-86, respectively. During a 1976 syndicated episode, host Dennis James called the mountain-climber character in the Cliff Hangers game Fritz, unaware that Pennington's husband Fritz Stammberger had disappeared while mountain climbing in the mid-1970s. As the contestant lost the game and the mountain-climber figure tumbled over the cliff, James shouted "There goes Fritz!," causing Pennington to run from the stage in tears. In June 1988, a camera hit Pennington, knocking her unconscious. She was taken to a hospital and taping of the episode resumed after 45 minutes. Pennington's resulting surgery left her with scars and one shoulder shorter than the other; as a result, she could no longer wear swimsuits on the show. A substitute model took Pennington's place during her recovery from the injury. Pennington's last episode of The Price Is Right was the December 13, 2000, episode following the show's takeover by Pearson Television earlier in the year. She signed a confidential settlement agreement. It’s great that Janice seems to have gotten over those incidents mentioned above- and she looks great for 81!

I was born right at the end of the third year right before it went to an hour. I had never seen a show of that era until CBS aired one episode after the Pillsbury Bake-Off on February 29, 2000. The episode was from May 1975, a month before I was born. It was hilarious - and I couldn't believe how quickly Janice and Anitra had to move around on set - the showcases were unbelievably polished - they had the show together then - and how the music was the same! It is such a blessing to see Vanna White's note and especially Janice Pennington adding a tribute. I can't blame him for not having a funeral or memorial service. It literally would be a national day of mourning on the level of a Presidental death. That's how beloved he is by fans of all ages, all backgrounds. The pilgrimage just to go see him would literally shut down California.

he wanted it that way and I agree LA would be bananas just a simple burial next to Dorothy Jo is what was needed

So many childhood memories watching the Price is Right. Bob could always sink those putts on the "Hole in One" game as he demonstrated how it worked. Rest easy, kind sir, and thank you for the many great television moments.

Dear Price Is Right Family, All of you make our hearts happy. Bob Barker was a wonderful MC who likewise made our hearts happy, and we'll continue the smiles with new episodes as well as old ones. As for Drew Carey, you have held the banner high and are a terrific host as well.

This is a real tragedy, not just for the industry of game shows, but also for the industry of entertainment in general. There were many great game show hosts back in the day and Bob Barker was one of the last remaining ones still living. The saddest part was that we were all hoping he would return to The Price Is Right for his 100th birthday if he had made it there. I don't know what happened with him in Janice Pennington that got her dismissed from the show, but whatever it was had to have been minor for her to do an interview like this. Hopefully Diane Parkinson and Holly Hallstrom may one day make peace with all this as well. Until then, we can only be thankful for the time Bob has spent entertaining us on television and be glad to know that he has finally reunited with Dorothy Joe and his fellow game show buddies in Heaven. Rest in peace Bob Barker.

On June 15, 2007, current TPIR model Rachel Reynolds handed the late Bob Barker his mic for the final time before his retirement at age 83. May God bless Bob.

Bob hosted "The Price is Right" on April Fools Day 2015 for the opening, first item up for bid, and first pricing game Lucky Seven. Then-model Gwendolyn Osbourne handed Barker the mic that day.
