Definitely can’t beat the dribble bars to grow more grass and help save on Fertiliser. Although expensive they will pay for themselves and save you money in the long run.
Excellent video ger as always I think Adrian ifarm we farm had the same response to the dribble bar at the start but ye both got the hang of it well done 👏 great stuff
I have a mastek dribble bar since May and would hate to go back to using a splash plate. Its the way forward and every farmer should have one so they can keep doin bits during the year wheather it be paddocks or silage fields
Think if you noticed savings by using the dribble bar this year then going into the future I'm sure the cost of artificial fertiliser is gonna keep going up so there is definitely scope for more savings in the future 🤔 great review Gerry 👍
We got one this year, New tanker with dribble bar fitted. Redrock 2250 recessed axle and I think it's a Agritech 7.5meter dribble bar. Got her finally delivered when the summer was all but over, so didn't get the full use of her in the good weather but will get more use of her next year I hope.
How do you know grass growth is better if you haven't done a direct comparison in the same field on the same season? I haven't changed anything but reduce fertilizer but still have overflowing pits and loads of bales and good growth in pastures purely down to the weather.
I’ve been grazing this ground from almost 30 years using splashed slurry to grow the grass… In all weather and conditions over the years…. I know. Slurry dribbled on gains you days earlier in your grazing. Even this time of year you Havnt got the growth of earlier in the year. can see still the gains.
This year. I spread 14 acres at 24 units to the acre. That was it. Very little on grazing. It was only as I was running low on slurry and wanted to give grass a quick push in those couple of fields
Nice to hear it’s working well for you 👍out of interested, if it wasn’t for the legislation and fert costs would you still have gone down the dribble bar route?
Yes I did. Even though their is an improvement in application with trailing shoe over the dribble bar, anyone i spoke to That had both said they wouldn’t go for trailing shoe again and just go dribble bar. That their wasn’t enough of a difference between the 2 to warrant the extra expense to go for shoe.
Think everyone notices a difference when the feed goes to the roots and not over the leaf when they change from splash plate to dribble bar or trailing shoe
We have a trail and shoe since 2017 haven't used the splash plate since 2017 washing road after maize I've honestly no clue where the plate is at this stage
HI Gerry you can't beet a hair cut. How much does a dribble bar cost less fitting roughly net cost, Would fitting some mud flaps be a advantage, now to keep the booms cleaner. I like how you keep your gear tip/top & as for selling your Subaru, I hope you didn't sell it to Evenflow of y/tube, if so poor car. 😂 Good informative vids as usual.
