One of my favourite walks in Scotland is the traverse of six Munros and many lesser hills in this area. Starting at the Glen Doll car park, we climbed Broad Cairn*, Cairn of Gowal (both tops), Cairn Bannoch*, Fafernie, Tolmount*, Ca Whims, Tom Buidhe*, Little Kilrannoch, Dun Hillocks, Mayar* and Driesh*, returning to Glen Doll via the Kilbo Path. (The six Munros are marked; * ) I think the distance around this loop is about 20 miles but once you reach the top of Broad Cairn the undulations are relatively small and the terrain is mainly grass which makes for relatively easy going. Because most of this circuit isn't in any of the Munro books, you can walk for hours without meeting anyone and as a result there's a much greater chance of seeing wildlife. Because of the huge distance around the loop, June is the best time to attempt this marathon. Including several stops, it took us around 12 hours to complete the circuit. A slightly shorter alternative is to follow the above route as far as Fafernie and then descend Jock's Road back to Glen Doll but it's not that much shorter and you only get two Munros rather than six (or three Munros if you take a detour to Tolmount). Navigation would be very difficult in poor visibility because the terrain is almost featureless, there are no paths in many of the sections and there are lots of potentially dangerous crags and corries. On a nice summers day, it's a fabulous day out though.

Hi Ray - have to agree when you leave the forest and Corrie Fee opens out in front of you - one amazing sight!! This walk was done in 2017 but I never got round to posting. hink the reason was the next day a lot of snow fell so I didn't want to stick this up showing none!! My vlogs are always a few weeks/months behind real time anyhoos!! Hop to catch up soon M

Hi Murray, I am one of those "silent watchers" and always get emotional when I see Scotland from your angle. I wish, I could understand more, hahaha. I was just visiting your blog in hope to find a map of mountains you've visited, but to no avail. It would be great for people like me who love the country and are planning a hiking holiday off the beaten track. I know, your movies are not supposed to work a guides, but still, they give a great impression of what one can expect. Usually, the first thing I do, is to look up on Google Maps where the specific mountain is located. It would be super cool to have it the other way round, as well - looking at a map and then watch the video :-) I am sure, this is not an original idea of mine, but still wanted to ask. Thanks for sharing all those wonderful experiences and images. Cheers from Berlin

We went up there on New Years Day 2017. It was so windy nearing Mayar's top that we had to crawl because of fear of being blown off. We found it really difficult to breathe too.
