Well I had a look down the beach before daybreak, and the forecast was wrong, too much wind, so I waited until the flood tide in the early evening. The boat was soon launched, only a few nets shot, and they sunk within 20 minutes. These spent herring dont weigh a lot, so there is over 50 in a stone, they take a long while to pick out of the nets. A thoroughly enjoyable trip, I filled up the bait tubs ready for lobster and crab potting, there must have been around 55 stone of fish. That was enough for cleaning in the dark, that is why I only put over a few nets, and not the usual two fleets of gear.
