Before the sponsorship police get carried away with their accusations please read the following: I do work with Drifta and was given the rooftop tent for free but I was not specifically asked or paid to make this video, I did it for two reasons: 1) Content for my channel. 2) I get a shit load of questions about this rooftop tent every week so I now have a video that will hopefully answer everyone questions. Everything I say in this video is 100% my honest opinion and feedback on the RTT after using it for roughly 12 months. It is also my personal experience/opinion which will vary a little person to person on any product. Thank you!
To late already made my comment before I read this. Haha There is hundreds of products out there and it’s very daunting. Knowing you have used a product and it works well for you means we can have more confidence in buying that product. Keep the product videos coming.
Thank you so much for this video. I am hoping to get to NSW to get my tent ASAP (Qld store won’t fit them and it is beyond me). Am absolutely thrilled that you can enter via the back of your vehicle - (I’ve only seen them enter the side)- as I want to add one of the Drifta’s shower as I already have an awning on one side and I was trying to work it all out in my mind. Am really happy after seeing this - thank you so much
Hi Tyler, thanks for the review. I have been interested in one of these rooftop tents, but I can't get to a dealer and see them for myself so watching your reviews and others is a really good way of collecting background information. Cheers Ian.
great review and i really don't care if you got it for free. If Drifta have the confidence to give a content creature something to test and review with no obligation's or hidden agendas, it shows they have a great product. Talking about a product is not advertising a product, there is a difference !
Hey bro! Something to help with the condensation under the mattress: place carpet tiles on the wood. There are self-adhesive carpet squares that you can get to stick down. I have done it and it helps loads with ventilating under the mattress.
Good review bud. I've been curious about these units. Drifta quality is usually pretty good. All in all, seems it's main advantage is weight and size. I still prefer a clam shell style unit though for several reasons. Mainly because they are quicker to set up and you can keep all bedding inside. I have mine on a trailer so weight or size is not an issue for me but something like this is definitely much better for a car. Cheers.
Keepin it real as always mate! Great job!👌 Girlfriend in the singular doesn't have an "S" on the end 🤣😂😜 loved that slip mate 👍 been eyeing these tents off since they were announced. Ticks so many boxes. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the extending side . . . And the cash to buy . . . One day 😜
You did not get it for free. You got it in exchange for a video/s It’s taken you time to make the video, edit it and upload it. That’s not free. Workers don’t get money for free from their boss. The work for it just like you have. Keep it up. Hope you can get to the Simpson desert next. Or somewhere out back.
A great video Tyler. I live in Cairns, & I bought the same tent from Drifta in January this yr. I bought it mainly for the tropics, & it works perfect up here 👍
@@surfinwaves4769 I honestly have found that all RTT are hot as it’s all a compromise. There is no insulation in the material as it’s very thin. I use a Ryobi portable fan in mine to help move the air around as I live in Cairns, & the tropics will kill you. I looked at Drifta, & Motop as they were the lowest 2 on the market at 160mm in height. For me it was getting in the garage at home, & I have under cover parking at work. I honestly do love the Drifta, & the accessories that Drifta sell are what made me choose them.
It’s definitely sleek on top, I’ve been looking at the New Alloy Kings Roof tents simply because they are the cheapest on the market, I’ve had a good look over them and they seem fine except for the weight, Keep up the good work big fella, the little lady gets a thumbs up for enthusiasm, 👍🏻👍🏻 you go girl..
Dont worry tyler, I pretty much stopped watching 4wd 247 because it's so commercialised and dictated by there agreements. You are a long way off that, your oppinion is worth listening too.
Up here in Canada there's a company called Wild Land Canada that sells what looks identical to this and is called the Desert Cruiser. Is this the same?
have you ever rolled onto the edge and whats happened? i roll around alot in my sleep and im a deep sleeper i feel like id fkn roll off that thing hahah i am fairly light to around 65kgs tho , what do you think would happen? cheers
Thanks for great review Tyler been looking for an honest long term review. Just one quick question, do you leave the tent on the car or do you take it on and off when not using it, and if so, how hard is it e.g. can it be done with two people. Cheers
How do you stop water collecting in the bathtub base? I'm close to buying this but living in the U.K. we get heavy rain. How does it stop it from collecting in the base?
Great video and looks like a good tent. Two questions, can you enter it from the side of the vehicle using the ladder, and if you rolled over in your sleep and into the side mesh, is it likely to hold or send you to destination f$&ked as Ozzie Man would put it ?
Good review mate, thanks for sharing. Question though, how warm does it get inside in the full sun? I'm guessing the polyester material would be pretty warm as opposed to a canvas. I'm in the Kimberley WA and do a lot of camping in the top end. Considering this tent but I think canvas would better suit my needs? Happy to hear your thoughts. Cheers, Benny
Cheers mate! My opinion is this tent is better suited to warm conditions then cold, seems to keep pretty cool and can open it right up for lots of air flow. We did 3 weeks in Cape York and was perfect
Great video mate just one question do you feel it’s worth the retail price would you have bought one regardless of any sponsorship which I have no problem with anyway cheers.
It’s honestly hard to believe any person could crack the shits over sponsorship content. How else are you going to get the information and look into a product while it’s being used? I mean at that rate any form of advertising or product review would be offensive. That’s just ridiculous.
@@TylerThompson90 💯% did mate got a soft top Arb only thing I can say is hassle haven to get my son up on top to push it down so I can do the zipper it up so you drifta looks like it will suit my setup
