There’s supposed to be coolant in your overflow. That doesn’t mean it’s overheating. Also you must always run an overflow. Not using one just means coolant loss. When the coolant heats up and builds pressure (which is normal) it needs somewhere to go therefor the excess bleeds into the overflow. And when it cools down the vacuum from the displaced air in the coolant system draws the overflown coolant back into the system. Again coolant in the overflow is 100% normal. Install a quality aftermarket coolant temp gauge to determine if the engine is overheating.
Thanks for uploading more, the quality and chill vibes really calm me down when In in my garage at 2am putting my car up on Car Gurus because of some bullshi
When you upgrade the radiator consider a GKTech fan, it should increase the airflow and reduce temps much better. Keep those videos going they are always so good to watch !
Love watching these videos where everyone has a good time, I ordered a skuraweekly banner a few days ago just wondering if you would ever make a poster of your s14 I’d love to have it on my wall
Id check water temps via consult cable. Its normal for water to expand when hot and flow into the overflow tank. Thats why overflow tanks exist to allow for volumetric expansion while keeping the system under pressure. Edit - looks like water expands linearly from 5c to 95c. So overflow =\= overheat. Check sensor data
sounds like a clogged line or a bad thermostat. (i've had brand new thermostat go bad on me before.) also be mindful that the radiator cap and water pump could be the cause of your problems too. worst comes to worst your headgasket is blown but i didn't see any smoke. i just finished a top end rebuild off my s14 a few week ago and i was having similar problems as you.
@@SkuraWeekly i'd say buy a combustion leak detector from your local autozone. it'll tell you immediately if there's combustion/fumes in your radiator and you won't have to do any guessing work on if the head gasket is blown or not. that saved me a lotttt of time. goodluck man, hope everything works out for you!
I tried removing a thermostat once…. The result was the water moving too fast through the radiator cores and not dissipating heat fast enough, & it overheated. Instead consider a new thermostat with 2-3 1/4” holes drilled in it
Ruvim has no thermostat in the SR, it runs hot after 5-6 runs. We decided to do it so that we can see if it was the thermostat not opening up causing the issue / air behind it.
