"Darlin' Cory" (a.k.a. "Darling Cora") is believed to date to the Civil War era... Appalachian origin. Lots of versions out there, this is one of the best. It's about illegal moonshine in the mountains. There are several versions of lyrics (always basically same tune), many verses. These are the most common. It's generally done as a fiddle tune, or a banjo tune. The downbeat on the 2 and 4 in the measure is actually very Appalachian, even though it sounds modern to us - it isn't. What?Where are the,..Oh ,.There they are,..The vocals.Hm,mmm,.. Funny ,..Never pictured Corey like this,...Been playing this aong dor 50 years and I always thought it was bluegrass,you know,FAST.Speed it up, lads and lassies.

I have always loved this traditional melody, and they hit it spot on. Having spent over a decade Appalachia, I love most of the video, But there is one thing, one of those pesky little things that no right minded person who lived down in a holler, or a hollow as those of us who haven't earned the right to the accent, would do. You don't bury someone on a river bank, especially within a foot at most maybe two of the water level. That's why they laid her in a meadow, in the cold hard ground. It's just one of those annoying little things that's so fake in an otherwise perfect video.

Phony baloney. Bill Monroe's version is correct.
