Explosives are safer and much quicker. Drill, charge, detonate, Tele remote dirt out. Drilling would make the ground unstable and having an operator in that situation for that period of time would be extremely dangerous. Also in hard rock explosives would be more than twice as quick
@@bejam3661 drill and blast is one solution used by NATM. NATM in essence is finding solutions as the tunneling progresses, if the geology allows you drill and blast, if not you find and utilize other methods. Only thing that is not part of NATM is using a tbm.
