Drill Charging Station in a Drawer! 

I never cease to be amazed by the sheer quality of these videos. I can't imagine where you hide the scriptwriters, lighting crew and production team 😉

Your comment about charging stations on a wall "like a museum piece" really caught me! You are easily the most relatable and no non-sense DIY guy on YT. Love it! First comment, 30th or 40th or 50th video of yours I've watched.

I really like the simple idea of using holes in the bottom. It might be a bit of an issue if you have kids or pets who could hurt themselves on a sharp bit. In those situations you could have a pipe extend down past the drawer bottom so that the bits are enclosed. To stop dust build-up in the drawer you could put a mesh over the holes, similar to what you can use over PC fans. Though with the dip in the front, it won't matter much. I think I would have used a full size front with recessed ring pull handles. It keeps it flush and also stops debris and dust coming in that way. I never really thought about the strength of plywood, but that makes total sense. :)

Nice job Stuart. Liking the hole supports for the drills. Try and get into the habit of lowering the bandsaw blade guide as close to the workpiece as possible. You’ll get a more accurate cut and there’s less likelihood of damaging the blade. 👍

That’s really clever Stuart. I have the typical ‘RU-vid inspired charging station’ hung on the wall and it’s an absolute magnet for dust. I think I need one of these!

Great project Stuart, I will definitely be copying this as I have a similar conundrum with my drills and chargers. The drawer design is very clever and am happy my wife won't be disappointed with the thought of my saggy bottom.

Ah I love this idea - I've been meaning to do a similar thing for a while for all the things that need charging around the house. I think I've probably spent about a quarter of my life looking for chargers for things 😂

Thanks for your videos, as always. I’ve just done the same but using an old IKEA Malm chest of drawers that I have in the garage. Worked out really well - you can pick them up cheap second hand and take some abuse!

Having organised space to manage, charge & store power tools is great . My large cordless Tool case was overwhelmed long ago. Leaving several mains & cordless tools without a dedicated home. Of all the items you have, a fixed router table is top of my list to build ASAP. Any disorganised work space soon becomes a dumping area and productive work stops.

Hi Stuart, thanks for this video, a great solution, nice build. It has given me ideas.

Great idea, well executed as usual, suppose the trick is to make sure you get out what you need in case you have something clamped on the bench edge.

Most likely your miter saw blade needs to be cleaned rather than sharpened. Those carbide teeth wouldn't be dulled by cutting some plastic, if you've cut a lot of softwood (especially pine) as well as the epoxy/plastic, you'll end up with buildup. Considering how expensive everything is these days, give it a try before you take it to be sharpened.

7:57 - The sheets are glued to each other, so any load gets transferred between them, and I doubt a 1-sheet difference will have much effect (maybe if it's 3-sheet ply, or if the inner sheets have a lot of voids, but in decent 7-sheet ply I suspect the difference will be completely negligible). Might be interesting to do a video actually testing that.

Hello Stuart, just wondering if you know about router table starter pins? I realise that small roundover bits don't pose a very big risk, but I just thought it was worth mentioning if you ever use large bits without a fence, and weren't aware of starter pins.

Clever solution! If I may ask: connecting the power strip to the NVR switch - doesn't that mean the chargers only charge when you flip the NVR switch on? Or is the NVR switched on constantly and only turns off when you hit the switch?

Looking at the tear out on the edge of the ply that blade is definitely struggling, probably be cheaper to get a brand new one off amazon than sharpening, sharpening also gradually makes the blade narrower

Do a check to be sure you are not over loading by daisy chaining multiple sockets

I wish I could get hardwood ply this colour and quality. All I can get is dark red colour and it splinters like crazy when cutting.

I'd say if the "action" is _there,_ then you don't really need _cordless_ tools. ;-)

What size screws do you use for 12mm ply?

Is it acceptable to charge batteries with the cable coiled or is that really only for 3 phase cables ?

I want to ‘upgrade’ my toolkit with a cordless drill. I’m curious how long the battery will hold a charge between usage. Days? Weeks? Months? I’m just a home DIYer so I need a drill maybe once every few weeks and it would be annoying to need the drill now only to find the battery drained. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your videos. Try some trend blade cleaner first

Your blade might not even need a sharpen, just a good clean with a wire brush

Before you sharpen the blade Stewart or buy a new one, clean the saw blade with meths to remove the glue - you may not need a new blade!

You said you would recommend 12mm ply, why does the sticker on the ply say "18mm"
