My Bike started to creak again after 6 months of riding after the Part 1 ( • Carbon Fibre Mountain ... ) Carbon Repair Video. Did the Carbon repair fail? or is there something else going on? Time to visit Mark @ DEEP DISH again.

Ibis and Yeti are, for me, the elite of frames... well guess Yeti takes 1st place now! :)

Actually if you look at the history of yeti, they are probably worse, we just finished working on a yeti ASR 5 for a cracked frame and the 575 and sb66 and many others like the sb6c etc were notorious for cracking. It’s the blessing and curse of continual innovation. At least now they offer lifetime warranty, finally they believe in there product. However their high maintenance with their complex linkage systems put me off as well. Currently working on another broken yeti frame in the same work shop as we speak. At least the ibis carbon was made strong, just pivots were not glued well but no cracks and I ride that bike like a DH bike. I will give a shout out to CANYON Bikes. Amazing no questions asked warranty for broken frames , fast shipping and service… way better than Giant, specialized and Trek as they even pay for your frame swap. Editing a video on it now. My number one has got to be Santa Cruz but I cracked one of them as well LOL!

Short answer is No. Unless I could get one at a very very good price. They are a very nice bike to ride, the warranty on them is now 7 years (in 2016 it was 3 years). I’ve put the bike through some tough stuff and the frame itself holds up well, no cracks or stress marks. Unfortunately to save weight their pivots are so small that the bearings don’t last long, 6months at most … I’ve owned bikes where I have never changed a bearing (Rotec Rl9, Schwinn straight 8, Kona stinky, Santa Cruz Nomad) and they still run perfect today! Santa Cruz offer free bearings and lifetime warranty. Kona, specialized, Merida and Giant also offer lifetime warranty too. I think that ibis should stand behind their product and offer the same, haha then I might buy a Ripmo!
