This Drinks Trolley is made from Steel 50mm (2 inch Angle) 5mm thick. I used the Lathe to make the rivets and ornamental curvy things. This is the first time I had used a metal lathe in 30 years! The timber is Silky Oak finished in Wipe on Polyurethane. The steel work is finished in a clear coat spray. It was a fun job using the lathe. Yes it had been Christened!
Check out my work on Instagram and Facebook and thank you for watching! Say hello in the comments!

Hey Scott. I am a huge fan of your work. I have always loved the look of steel and wood. I am a woodworker myself and the reason I have never combined steel with my woodworking was because of not having any knowledge of how to weld. Watching your channel has inspired me to start learning how to weld. I don’t know if you have ever had any requests for this but it would be great if you could do a series of videos on basic welding, as well as what a beginner’s needs of tools would be. Keep up the amazing videos!!!!!!!

Beautiful work Scott, again I love your wood/steel blending techniques. With most of our crazy wonky Aussie hardwoods squeezing the boards into those frames would = wood movement chaos but with mostly 1/4 sawn Silky Oak you'll get away with it as it's very stable.
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious 7 лет назад
Thank You! Yes I agree. I was lucky enough to pick up the silky from a garage sale and i still have plenty for more projects down the track and I'm running out of hard wood so that's probably a good thing!

As a safety and comfort-tip: when you wear earphones, put it below your shirt. Then you have no loose cables into your work, and when the pods drop from your ears, the hang before you instead of on the ground. Simply, but convineant.

Amazing job Scott. I just found your channel some days ago, but watched almost all videos so far. And subbed of course. One point regarding the trolley: The casters. They look too new and commercial you know? Perhaps you could let them look more used or more industrial. But that´s only the last 0,1% to perfection ;-) Keep on with your great work. We can see the passion you´ve got creating this stuff. Kind regards from Germany.

@ 8.29, when the metal jams the blade. Remedy, I use a piece of 10mm, anything will do, to space the end of the metal being cut and the "cut length automatic stoppy thing". Clamp him up, remove the 10mm piece it allows the soon to be cut piece some room to move. Sorry for the "Technical Speak Jargon", this is how I was brought up.

I love your channel. You build beautiful pieces. I also like wood working and metal work. Do you have concern of welding in the same place you wood work. Is this a fire hazard? I’m asking from a point of naiveness.
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious 3 года назад
Thanks Danniel! Yes I get concerned about fire. Before I weld I vacuum all the wood dust, best I can and the try and blow out the remainder. Keeping it clean is the plan. Other than that I have fire extinguishers and vigilance.

It's a real pleasure to see your work. I have a question. When you use tig and when you use mig? Greetings and thanks for your time
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious 7 лет назад
Hi and thank you! I would use TIG for an area that needs better control go the heat and amount of fill, for example a delicate area. My MIG is great for big fillet welds, joining larger structures. MIG is much faster and creates a much bigger bead. Generally I would not use TIG for general welding of materials, it would be too slow. I hope this helps.
