This was a day one pick up for me. Imported it from second sight. Got it a couple of weeks after the release date due to overseas shipping but was totally worth it. I personally went for the regular non deluxe version. Even thought it's technically a 2k upscale, the image literally looks like native 4k. That's how much of an incredible job they did on this transfer. One of the best 4k releases of the year so far.
I love this movie. I picked up the limited edition box set. First time ever picking up a non-domestic release. It was pricey but well worth it if you’re a fan of the movie. I was impressed with the quality of everything. The packaging, picture, and audio.
I loved this movie I own the Bluray! All my friends hated it due to the fact its actually telling a story 🙃. I also loved the music tracks they dropped in and out perfectly! I may have to get this one!
Just ordered, I can’t believe this slipped my mind. So much is coming out now I have to take a breath. It really seems like people are back in the swing of collecting.
Completely agree with your review. One of the best movies ever and like you said even though its an upscale transfer its one of the best. The audio track is also a massive upgrade.
It's a lovely disc yes we can finally retire the blu. A touch more detail but the color grading and HDR are the stars here. Not every movie really benefits from atmos but this one was good.
So question still pretty new too collecting even though it's imported will it work on my Xbox one 4k player ? I've been getting mixed answers from Google
There was a previous 4K UHD Blu-ray release of Drive by Leonine Films in Germany back in December 2021. Has anyone done side-by-side comparisons with the new Second Sight release? Second Sight: Video: (Main): 57.4Mbps Dolby Vision layer: 9.61Mbps Audio: Dolby Atmos 7.1 - 3,063kbps DTS-HD MA 5.1 - 3,192kbps Leonine Films: Video: (Main): 57.4Mbps Dolby Vision layer: 14.3Mbps Audio: DTS-HD MA 5.1 - 3,663kbps So, despite the Second Sight being Director and original colourist approved, it is strange that the video and audio bitrates (I know that isn’t the only factor to consider when comparing two different releases) are lower than the previous Leonine Films release.
No point waiting for that. If I'm not mistaken the original cinematographer approved this color transfer for the Second Sight Edition so I don't think it's going to get better than this if Universal does it also.
@@ScruffyWarlord Universal owns the rights to the movie. Second Sight purchased those rights for a 4k release. I don't think Universal will actually do anything. They will wait out the contract length that Second sight purchased on release, then use Second Sights 4k scan and sell it here in America. Easy release for them if someone else already did the leg work. Just need to either copy packaging or come up with new packaging and sell it again. I mean, that's what I would do if I was them. I just couldn't imagine Universal wasting their time if a 4k scan has already been done.
I want Drive on 4k Ultra HD, love the artwork on the cover but it's $70 bucks for this overseas 4k. Based on your review it's definitely worth the price 👌
@@MovieGuy365 thanks! i just received the deluxe edition in the mail today. I had to spring for the deluxe because this is one of my fave films. Can’t wait to see the transfer.
Adam I also got the standard edition and oh boy it's pretty barren huh? I wish they'd give us a little more meat on the bone ya know? Just throw us a slipcover and a little piece of paper teasing your upcoming releases etc. It would help it feel more premium.
