Drive Form Breakdown: Limit Form ~ Kingdom Hearts 2 Analysis 

Completely forgot to talk about the changes to the limits while fighting Roxas! I will be working on that ASAP and will probably come out some time this week.

I love how you put a little window of footage next to the abilities list to show what the ability was. It's a neat addition and I wish that was actually in the game.

For those wondering, Zantetsuken translates to "sword that cuts iron."

This form is broken as hell, and I love it.

I love the visuals of Zantesuken. First the spinning of the keyblade, then taking it in a reverse grip before slashing it forward in a fluid, relatively relaxed fashion. :D Moreover, its the strongest single hit attack Sora possesses in the whole game by a long shot. While there may be stronger abilities and combo finishers overall, nothing's more satisfying than being seeing two health bars of bosses evaporate in a single hit because you're just that overpowered. (Looking at you, Zebraman who dares to challenge me on my Lv. 99 Critical safe file!)

These form breakdowns are honestly some of my favorite analyses of KH2 combat I've ever seen. The fact that you not only talk about general strategy, but go as far as to break combos and abilities down to each individual hit is honestly incredibly informative, and I can't wait for this series to continue!!

I love how in the thumbnail Donald has his eyes closed and Sora is covering Goofy's eyes. Idk, it would be a pretty accurate photo of them if they tried to take one with the Gummi phone 😂

I love KH2, but it always bothers me how the English translation is weirdly inconsistent with the rest of the series. This is especially noticeable when you compare the names of Limit Form's abilities to their original forms in KH1.

Dude, I'm truly thankful to you for how DEEP into the analysis that you give these forms. Even down to the strike by strike in each and every limit break Sora does in Limit Form is detailed in how how he attacks. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to get this down as a fanfic writer and a HUGE fan of KH in and of itself. Worth bookmarking for later research during writing my fanfics involving Kingdom Hearts at a later date!

The Hurricane Period is a reference to KH1 Ability Hurricane Blast, Hurricane Blast is a finisher that you spin vertically and Hurricane Period is a finisher and same thing but finishing it with 2 rays of light instead of spinning alone to damage more enemies below

A neat little thing about the limits is that they’re actually named after the literal translations from the Japanese version. I like to think that in a way, the english version makes it sound as if you’re using the true form of these moves. Also, one thing that’s not covered here is that during the Roxas fight, alongside normal combos in both base and limit form (and possibly magic, I don’t remember), once you steal Oblivion and Oathkeeper (essentially wielding three keyblades at the same time), the limits gain additional/special animations with the two.

i remember playing kh2 fm in 2009 and getting limit for i was WTF? kh 1 movesets lets GO.

Nice video, they're always fun to watch😄. Limit's my favorite form and it's so unique. The design's cool, the limits are awesome, and the combo finishers are just as great. The fact that you don't need a party member and it's so reminiscent to KH1 Sora makes it so good. Can't wait for the next video👌🏾

Nice vid bio! This always was my favorite form Just wanted to add one thing that isn't a big deal but still nice Limits actually heal you if your low on health, it heals with each time you press triangle. But still nice breakdown!

Also would like to mention that during Infinity/Ragnorak's energy charge you can move around and steer yourself with left thumb stick.

Zantetsukan is the sole reason i love limit form, that level of ability to strike something that way is downright beautiful SN: Finishing Roxas with Zantetsukan counter during that encounter is the most insane shit you’ll ever see !

If you use a limit command when a party member is knocked out after the LC is finished the party member(s) will be revived same is true if you use limits outside of Limit Form eg duck flare will revive goofy if he is unconscious before using it.

The light on the keyblade during last arcanum also looks like the KH1 ultima weapon.

I don't know if it's true but the start for Sonic rave looks like the start off for stun impact in kh3

(Still going strong with giving the forms extra meaning they don't have, though this one is a little tough for me) Limit form represent's Sora's inner child, the one most of us have that we haven't lost yet. It's more than likely Sora drawing on the memories of his younger self's adventures, the abilities he no longer uses cause he forgot are in full bloom. They have changed slightly, a change that Sora is doing consciously I think, he took what worked in the move and then improved it.

I always loved Limit is because the color pallet reminds me of the very first game and made me a bit sad and happy at the same time.

Fun fact: In the original KH and Chain of Memories, the translations Sonic "Blade" was actually a liberal translation from the Japanese version, which uses Katakana to write "REIVU" aka Rave. Also I love the video editing on this :isee:

Guard in limit form is god tier blocking

Since I'm a nitpick for Japanese and its phonetics, the a in Zantetsuken is actually said is said as "ah". Sonic Rave is literally Sonic Blade's name in Japanese. Same with the reaction command names. Last Arcanum is also Ars Arcanum's Japanese name, again, same with the reaction command names. Infinity.....I have no idea where they got that localized name from. Hurricane Period, same thing: Japanese name. Localized name was normally Hurricane Blast. And hands down, Ripple Drive is my favorite KHFM and Limit Form move.

I found a homebrew Keyblade Wielder class for Dungeons and Dragons. I used this to create a limit form subclass for that class as I don't like it being Anti Form as a choice and rebalanced the class, your videos have been a great help with that. Thanks Bio. The only reason I can think of for why Limit sora has a checkered heart in Halloween town, while final has the crown, and limit has the crown in Christmas town, while final doesn’t, is because KH2 didn’t have limit form, the Halloween town forms were made then, so they gave the crown to final, but then in FM, they added limit form, and because the crown is usually his motif, and final was already using it, they gave him the checkered heart. They were able to fix the “inconsistency” in Christmas town because those forms were also exclusive to FM, so they were able to make those forms the definitive patterns

It may be helpful to use the KH Wiki to double-check on your analysis videos. For example, with the exception of Sonic Blade, the Limit attacks do not have invincibility frames that can be exploited by delaying the followup attacks, as they did in Kingdom Hearts 1; they're only invincible on the initial auto-combo parts of the Limits. It seemed important enough to have to have in your Strategy section of the video, imo. Regardless, thanks for the work you put in these! Your videos are amazing and I'm looking forward to the rest of the analysis videos for the Drive forms, maybe even Command Styles for BBS in the future? 👀

It's not just nostalgia... I don't care what anyone says. THIS is Sora's most iconic design and moveset. I hate what they've done to him in 3 and would love to have his old abilities permanently available, as well outfit customization if just for cosmetic purposes

Ok Limit Form is awesome but the fact that it kills your air mobility is a draw back that makes me use it with caution. Fore example against Lingering Will I rather stick to normal Form and use my Drive gauge to summon Stich. Not having glide against LW sucks and Final Form has neither guard ore Dodge roll so In the LW fight that’s only an option If I use it fore a Firaga loop. There are a lot of situation where I prefer to just stick with normal Sora since normal Form is the most balanced form with the best defensive options. Thats why I like summons. They gave you benefits without taking anything away from normal Sora.

The thing I like about ars in 2 is that Sora looks like he’s in control of the keyblade the whole time, while in 3 it looks like the keyblade is dragging him through the air

Sonic Rave is Sonic Blade, Last Arcanum is just Ars Arcanum ("ars" means "last" or "final" btw), Strike Raid of course, and Infinity's finisher is Ragnarok. Ripple Drive is Second Form's second ground finisher while Hurricane Period is the first air finisher. Sad that Zantet didn't come back in 3. (also, nice transition yet again.) 6:00 heya there

Could you mention how Last Arcanum turns the keyblade into a blade of light? That might be the first or one of the first instances in KH where "blades of light" are used in an attack rather than an offshoot of the keyblade itself. Although is the orb of light from Ragnarok/Infinity similar to the orbs that Xemnas and Young Xehanort pull out?
