'Drive My Car' (Japan) Wins Best International Film | 94th Oscars 

I’ll never understand WHY the Academy plays the music in the middle of the speech and interrupt it when presenters make jokes for 3 minutes straight and no one cares. How disrespectful. The Academy Awards are supposed to celebrate cinema and movies. We want to watch and hear their speeches rather than Tiffany Haddish or Maya Rudolph making funny faces and well constructed jokes. COME ON!

If an international/foreign language film is also nominated for Best Picture, it’s almost guaranteed that it’ll win Best International Film

If you ever feel useless, remember Ryusuke’s translator was brought up to the stage and Ryusuke went all english in his speech.

Drive My Car won best screenplay at Cannes Film Festival and swept the award season winning the Golden Globe Award, the Critics Choice Award, the BAFTA Award and the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film/Best Foreign Language Film. Ryusuke Hamaguchi is so talented. I'm so happy that Drive My Car could also be nominated for Best Picture as a film not in the English language.

Drive My Car talks about such raw and realistic topics in an excellent way, in my opinion this was the film that should have won Best Picture

For those in the comments who are saying that this movie was boring, what Oscar nominated or winning movie isn’t because honestly the majority of the movies that win or get nominated at the Oscar’s are very boring and un entertaining so it’s nothing new. Then the movies that do deserve to get nominated don’t even get close or get a respectable chance of getting even a consideration. Unfortunately due to the way the Oscar voting system works when it comes to the international film category these unwanted or unworthy movies are going to keep getting nominated.😒Pretty much anyone who knows nothing about film or the film industry on the international level can vote examples: costume designers, set designers, makeup artists etc🤯purely baffling if you ask me.
