Other reviewers should take a page from your book. Instead of sitting at their tables talking for 30 minutes about what they think the truck will do, talk as you present its capabilities. I'm just now returning to the hobby after 15 years and rock crawling is what's drawn me back. I purchased the Axial 10ii Blazer! It's arriving Monday, haven't even got it and ready to buy a 2nd crawler. Watched your other reviews as well. Wish you had more review and versus videos definitely the best reviews I've found. Was considering this Enduro but the Wraith looks so cool too! Thanks Mr. Holmes.
Many thanks for the feedback! I'll see what I can do for more reviews of rigs. I don't keep them stock long, so getting multiples in stock form at the same time for review is tough to accomplish without buying more rigs or undoing work.
@@HolmesHobbies Absolutely John, I understand. Would you consider doing a video on what upgrades you like, or dislike for the SCX10's? Do you have an opinion on using the Traxxas Big Bore shocks #2662 on the SCX10 ii? What brass parts, if any do you use?
John. ScalerFab has a new front bumper for the Sendero. It has excellent clearance for transissions. Your review is very informative about the rig and how to drive it.
I have scaler fab pre runner bumpers on scx10 ii absolutely love them they are about to get upgraded for free from the company under warranty for them bending
Cut two vents on the tires and run them till you have modded the truck with everything else and that is the last thing in the way. I have only ran one of your motors. The crawl master pro 16t five slot. I am absolutely a fan of. Ran it in a stock wraith spawn esc with pbx pitbulls 2.2 tires and the start up is insaaaaaane. Wow the control is amazing stock esc gearing and radio no issues. Feels better than my castle slate motor with the micro x.
I put my rear bumper mount on the front and flipped it. Put a yeah racing minimalist bumper on it and one of your 21t trail sport motors in it with HW 1080 and its a fun rig!
John, Excellent review, I have been fretting over what my first real crawler would be. I have been torn between traxass scx10, axial and the redcat gen 8. I finally decided that this element RC truck has everything I want and even though it is more expensive than the gen 8 from redcat it is worth the added funds and truly is the best value. I will watch your other videos and in the future after I get my truck I will upgrade it with your recommended holmes hobby motor. Thanks so much! great video and real world crawling action! I am a big fan of using stock radios and esc's. Simply because you have already paid for them. I hope switching to one of your motors will improve the forward handling and fix the reverse sensitivity problem!
Great vid dude, love your enthusiasm for the hobby, and respect your knowledge as well as your candour. Keep on doing the same thing, the format and your style are very much appreciated, well they are by me at least.
I'd raise the body, install a short throw bumper modified to match the new body height, cut the wells, slap on some brass wheel extensions, install 2.2 Proline Hyrax tires, Hobbywing Xerun AXE 550 system, Flysky FS-GT5 radio and 6 chan receiver, and finish it off with a REEF'S 555. In fact, that's exactly what I'm gonna do. 😄
Love the commentary as you drive and what you see. Also the scx10.2 c-hubs do fit but are loose fitting. Yeah racing brass scx10.2 c-hubs have a tight fit. So with brand mileage may vary.
Thanju yes I just did that on the trail yesterday, it really helps. Don’t know why. You also reverse the radio throttle channel after swapping the motor wires.
Lol. Everyone complains about the bumpers. Good thing they're easy to inverse, move more inboard, cut, or otherwise modify. Plus, any axial style or frame rail mounted bumper will bolt on and companies like Scalerfab are already on top of having performance-driven bumpers specifically for the Enduro. For an RTR servo, it beats all of the rest, but I"m like you, I don't run any RTR servos or electronics; I need at least 300 oz. in., preferably 400 oz. in. plus. Radios do get expensive, but man do they make a huge difference in performance if you know how to set them up. It was nerve-wracking, though, handing my brand new 7PX to Cadence at KNK to drive my Origin around for a bit. lol I may put a revolver in mine, as I haven't had the pleasure of running one in any of my rigs yet.
This is my first crawler. Well it's my first RC car of any type since my RC10 back in the mid to late 80's (still have it by the way) Any suggestions on what I should put in it to bring it back to life? Sorry of topic a bit so back to my Sendero, I've only had about 3 batteries threw it. I think I will change out the ESC first and see how that goes. I will push in the rear bumper and rock sliders. Replace the front bumper with a scalerfab fullsize front bumper.
I bought the sister truck. The Trailwalker. My local hobby shop was out of the Sensoro. The chassis is the same, electronics are the same. Body is different. Different front bumper. 1.55 tires. I bought an axial body post kit. Raised the body and put a set a Of Proline Hyrax 1.9 tires. Raised the front suspension a little bit to compensate for the full size battery 2c Lopo I’m running. I was surprised at how well it wheeled out of the box. I did buy a 3 cell shorty battery and will try that out. I may put a little thicker shock oil in the rear. I think the rear squats a little too fast. But the flex is I think better than the Axial scx10-2 Cherokee I had. I’m very impressed for an RtR. I normally do the builder kits.
Love this rig, but did take off front pushed in rear. Looking at Wertymade bumpers I see them developing! 1. I beefed/stiff’n up the chassis with extra links that I had, 2 installed the Element Inner Fenders which helped with the body being more rigid, 3. trimmed body along the sliders portion, 4. pushed in sliders. 5. Gorilla clear tape along thin weak points of body. 6. Shoe Goo the body to the bed and reinstall the connection pieces. Hate droopy two piece bodies. Going to upgrade servo and servo horn. Maybe esc later. I think the ssd rotor/hubs can bolt in as well. Pretty much keep it there.
I like running my SCX10 II Scale Trail rigs on the rocks. Because they can be made just shy of unstoppable, pretty easily! My TRX-4 Scale Trail rigs, mostly run the trails. Just because they are heavy like Army Tanks, and the SCX10 II rigs are like running Feathers on the Rocks...
For a bone stock RTR... This Rig is IMPRESSIVE!! Everyone seems to agree by now, that the Bumpers, ESC and Servo are the shortcomings. Again, I'm buying the SBK, so I won't have any of those!! 😉 I'll be using the VS4-10 Bumpers - BEST bargain out there, a Hobbywing 1080 ESC, and my favorite 25kg Servo. Thanks for your HONEST assessment! Carmine ✈🚂🚙
drove mine today box stock minus the lexan jk jeep body mod and removed bumpers even tried some wet crawling and a little mud climbing outstanding performance for my 300$ investment used
Take off bumpers... cut out fenders , servo, tires and some shock keys for the rear an upgrade motor. Then it's good hahaha I enjoy mine. It takes an ass kicking I'll make i little video for mine soon
Swap a 16t Crawlmaster Pro, show the difference with stock electronics and a good servo. A good cheap bumper will be the new VP VS4 Pro front, Many scx10ii rear will work perfect
My buddy bought the rugged radio. It was slightly raining the water went into the screen and fried it. Spectrum replaced it but in my opinion it’s not water proof as they say it is.
If I wanted a bit more speed and want to stick to an Element motor, what would be a good speed upgrade. 12t, 15t, 17t we know it comes with the 16t. It's been 30 years since I've been into RCs. Getting back into it with 2 teenage boys! We just bought 3 Element Enduros.
Have you found an overdrive set up for the ascender? The element been a great truck, super capable and easy to customize. Seems l I'll ke it all comes down to the transmission, everything else gets replaced and most rigs end up the same as far as ladder frame set ups go. Wheelbase is about all the variation there is. Everybody replaces electronics after 1/4 of a 3 cell list to make sure ya like the truck. I have even not even test driven a truck before replacing significant parts of the rig. I love rc, ha
Well...if you're keeping it simple , i'd go with a Crawlmaster Pro 550 and a Sidewinder 4 with a SHV500. I'm still curious which motor makes more usable torque....the TorqueMaster 550 or the TorqueMaster Magnum? One having a longer Armature(but normal diameter) and the other having a bigger diameter Armature(but normal 540 length).
they have also hardened plastics to prevent the body twist .. option .. and yeah minimum 550 ;-) but it's of my list for now ... maybe the kit is a better option then the RTR
Im pretty sure this is getting the mileage treatment just like the #200milegen8 and #200milewraith19 After seeing it at Pro-line By The Fire I knew I wanted to wait for when it would be cooler outside in order to spend plenty of time on trail.
I have a question about the ECU no I was running a little bit of time not very long am I e c u wood cut out I would have to restart it and then go in a kid up kick out again is that my problem ECU
I am not a fan boy of this chassis mounted servo. I know it is the best scale look, but I like performance first! Oh yeah and the new AR44 one piece axles I have no use for!! Where would I bolt on a servo on axle mount? This rig is pretty impressive out of the box.
Stock tires dont do well in snow, they dig in. Whats a good # of turn motor for this? Would something in the 40's be too much torque? Would it be too slow?
I’ve made my decision currently waiting for my local hobby shop to get it’s next batch of Sendero kit version I would do the RTR but literally I’d be ripping out all the electronics and probably swap the body and tires so it becomes a waste unless I find someone willing to pay for that stuff.
The trailmaster is 3 slot and won't typically have the same smoothness of a 5 slot. Our Crawlmaster line is the 5 slot stuff. We will have a sealed can "sport" motor later this year.
You should look at aussie rc's video, he mentions way more downfalls on this truck, that I totally agree with, they totally rushed this out, glad I bought my gen 8 now, and all it needed was a tire change, the rest was cosmetic👍
I'm quite satisfied with the trucks handling and design, there was no rush job to the things that matter long term. Sure there is always something to improve, but for the money there isnt a better equipped rig on the market.
If it had jank geometry or an inherent design flaw I could agree. I would choose this rig over the gen8 because of the universal shaft design, the gen8 puts the edge of the cup too close to the cross pin and it is a source of frequent failure. Otherwise the gen8 is good, but that is a rather serious flaw that can't be fixed without a redesign to the chubs, inner shafts, and outer shafts. The Element has had some "ears" break off the universal, but it's a temper or billet problem and not design flaw. I have been looking through the Element kit and there doesn't seem to be anything of concern, engineering wise.
I have an Enduro. Rock crawling is nice but I like running down the trail better. Is it possible to turn my Enduro into a trail running beast? If so which Homes motor and ESC would do that?
Hi , John , been looking at this Enduro , Gen7 pro and the Trx4 defender for my first 1/10 rock crawler. However I have watched so meny videos and reviews , now I can't seem to decide. Having years of experience in Building and designing Trucks , Motors that Stand by themselves in the marketplace ( that being You ) what would you be more likely to choose as a first 1/10 rig given all the excellent qualities these trucks share... and that you have tested them on the same course . Im into crawling and trails .... Thank you ,Cheers from 🇨🇦
I'd be torn between the enduro, trx, and scx10ii. The enduro is best out of the box. 10ii has a lot of aftermarket. trx is most bulletproof, also pretty bulky.
@@HolmesHobbies , hi John so little up-date , went and finallly took the plunge and got the TRX4 defender limited as the store 6hr round trip away had it in stock , But not the Orange Ltd😣 had it in my second choice colour " yellow " , little did I know , I had it home and going through the guide and removed the body the next day all was good looked great . So I went to reinstall the body , now " at this point I had not even installed a battery " or anything and I just was so impressed with it in real life .... SO noticed some of what I thought were just smudges on the surface of the truck go to wipe them off and its Not smudges to my dismay an disbelief the paint was separating from the inner lexan shell...🤤 Called my guy at the hobby shop 6hrs away and informed him ... he said I was the second person that it had happened to Out of the two sold , but its only the yellow Ltd Ed Defenders this is happening to.. Just thought I would share so anyone who has thoughts of the purchasing the yellow ltd knows .. Traxxas is going to ship a New Body .." according to there rep " . but Not Yellow , as it's those with the issues. Told me to " run it and Have fun " lastly they said it might be some time for a limited Orange version of the body " they asked my choice of replacement colour " becouse of the current health situation.. I know This was long winded but I think important to note Traxxas helpfulness. Cheers John .. 🖖 still a great Rig .... TY.
I put a 640 27t holms motor in my 1.9wraith and was driving it in the house went to go over a pile of towels the wheels didnt spin made a wining sound and a bunch of smoke came from the motor needles to say the motor is toast
Too much piss and moan everything drives different my truck won't do very good but why cook something else down it's a setup quit cutting down other people set up
