See links in description for videos. 4) Gas prices ran from $1.89- $2.41 a liter on this trip 5) Total cost of my gas was a little over $1,300 US 6) Airline tickets were running $1,200+ Thanks for watching!

Great video, great safety info. After nearly 30 years driving a big rig. And a two million mile safety award, please let me add just two things . First it was great that you do a pre-trip on your truck and trailer every morning before you start out but you need to do safety checks a few times during the day . Maybe every 2-3 hrs when you stop for a break. Try this , every time you get out for coffee walk the long way around the back of your rig and do a quick visual inspection . Then do the same thing when you come back. Second , if you are really fighting the afternoon fatigue and your eyes are heavy ,safely pull over wherever you can and just lay back in your seat and close your eyes. Your body clock will wake you up in about 20 mins. Combine that with a safety break and you’ll be good to go. Don’t push it always err on the side of caution. Btw great dog.

Hey, Brooke. My husband and I have driven to Alaska twice from North Carolina. Everything you said about what to bring along, how the roads were, and the scenery, was exactly as you said. We loved our travels through Canada, especially Yukon, and Alaska. We're ready to go back, but as you said, fuel prices are outrageous! So glad you and Moose had a safe journey. Blessings to you.

Yeah, I'm in Nova Scotia and gas was already high for a while (over $1 a litre) but now it's hovering around $2.15 per litre. There are 3.89 litres in a US Gallon so we're dealing with gas prices just above $8 per US Gallon. On the plus side, you should find light traffic wherever you go! 🤔

Excellent all around information! Tires right now are super hard to find, and delaminating is a big issue for the trailers on big rigs making for a lot more caution room with the big rigs. I drove from Tupelo, Mississippi to Anchorage in 2015. I drove an old truck & sold it there too. Crossed up into Canada through N. Dakota. Days later, long story short, a sign (one of the many) got turned the wrong way and later realised I was driving Rt. #4 into upper Yukon. I was alone and I can tell you it was a once-in-a-lifetime event! The majestic beauty was something I could not describe. I didn't think I would ever make it home again but did enjoy every moment as if it were my last. That 400 mile road became a dirt/mud road with absolutely never a gas station or a human to be found. I almost got stuck in the wet mud several times. My "MILEPOST" was the one and only 'supply' I had to use and use it I did. Pretty funny when I remember back to finding a road that was supposed to be the way to Whitehorse but was just an overgrown path with no way to get a vehicle or even a bicycle through. I prayed very hard. I could talk for hours but I just want to tell anyone considering this trip, be very careful and don't go it alone if you don't have to. Not unless you are very familiar with it all. Your cell phone won't have connection often and you never can depend on everything going as it should. It is rain forest and the rock slides and land slides happen often. You can never be prepared for what all you might encounter. So, be prepared to not have what you didn't know to bring. It will be different for everyone. Expect the unexpected. I felt the full spectrum from terror to absolute bliss. One more thing: Many elderly couples driving in RVs on the AK Hwy had turned over and were awaiting help to right their too tall vehicles. Low is the way to go. God be with you all. :)

After 45 years of driving truck for a living, and traveling thru all but 4 of the lower 48 states and Ontario and Quebec, I can really relate to this video, especially as a woman out there traveling. I love watching your videos on being out in the wild because I've been there and done that. At 68 years old, I've slowed a bit. But, that being said, there was nothing like standing on the roof of my house , 12 years ago at 11:30 at night shoveling 3' of lake effect snow and listening to the coyotes run up the creek bed behind my home out in the woods. And as far as a bucket? I've always carried a coffee can with kitty litter!

I had to say Hello to one. The old guy up in Canada, my self reliance is all done with the walls of his cabin now. He is starting on the roof now. One was right he can do it. I have watched him build a cabin, an outdoor kitchen, a sauna already. He worked so hard I offered to give him a hand. He helped build his green house dome too. A shed and a outhouse on the new property too. He is still working on it. Have fun up in Alaska. It gets cold at nights there for me. I came out of the desert to alaska in 1980. Then we both drove the Al-Can highway made by the Army Corps of engineers in the 1800's. What a beautiful ride thru there too. Just have to watch out for the big rocks.

I find it hard being and old girl myself to see her put out to pasture and not to ever see her again, It's like she's passed and I can't enjoy watching anymore knowing I won't see her at all. I know I don't want to be put out to pasture and I know she's getting older but the joy when she was out camping with you can't be replaced in her heart, so hopefully on some of the easier adventures we will still see her.

I've made quite a few really long trips. One thing I've discovered is that if you mouth is moving, your eyes are open. Things I do, snack! Chips are my favorite but nuts are also good or whatever. Small things that take time to eat. The other thing I do is sing. Put some good tunes in and sing at the top of your lungs. The last idea I came up with is a tooth brush. I don't bother with toothpaste. Just dry brush. It is great for your teeth and gums, its calorie free and most of all it WORKS!

Hi again BROOKE Soo enjoy that drive from Michigan even though it's a long one. Most beautiful scenery with critters too and very relaxing I thought. Great preparation and info as always and so very helpful especially for those less travelled. Little Moose is so darn cute and a great travel buddy. Good experience for him too and relieved for you he doesn't get car sick! Great fun to meet up with your hubby at your own place! Worth the drive for sure!! Know you've had a wonderful getaway and many thx as always for sharing. Stay safe and enjoy every moment. God bless...

When I was a kid, we lived in Omak, Washington, about 50 miles from the Canadian border. We took trips to Canada a few times, and I remember the unbelievable beauty. I think it was Penticton Canada where we saw the most beautiful lake! Crystal blue down the mountain banks. I'm sorry I don't remember all the details, but I remember how awesome it was.

I have made solo trips on the Alcan and my youngest daughter also. The old days we had to travel in December but now the road is paved. We mostly have slept in our vehicles. The people are uber friendly. Bring your food!

Thank You!! I believe in being prepared, old Boy Scout here, but sooo many shows on going to Alaska make it look like ice heave’s all the way and have discouraged this 70 year old from going. Thanks for your honesty and positivity on your Beautiful trip! Take Care!
