I somewhat found out what makes your uploads darker than they normally are (after experimenting with uploads on my @TopRareMedia channel) - you'd basically have to set the resolution of the original file of the video from 576 to 720, so RU-vid unlocks the 720p feature (and possibly 720p50 if you've also deinterlaced it) and it should make the video looking much better.
