So the only way the black community can fix this problem is by having the government fix it for them? That way of thinking is so inherently disrespectful to black culture, it’s ridiculous.
I somewhat found out what makes your uploads darker than they normally are (after experimenting with uploads on my @TopRareMedia channel) - you'd basically have to set the resolution of the original file of the video from 576 to 720, so RU-vid unlocks the 720p feature (and possibly 720p50 if you've also deinterlaced it) and it should make the video looking much better. If you need any help with that, please let me know.
I think part of that reason is A) Having a very basic and cheap economy car on your road means you have to admit there are poor people in your country, as opposed to just people who would rather take the metro, and B) These Ladas put the execution bullet in the British motor industry after decades of slow torture by poor management and quality. C) For a people whose grandparents told them tales of conquest and great adventure, about the might of the British Empire, to have to see that country no longer exist and its industry rot to nothing, poor people owning COMMUNIST cars is would be just another shitty reminder of how things are much worse than they used to be, and the only way to deal with it is to dismiss the Lada as a shitty, useless, embarrassing vehicle, if not communist lmao.
@@peterl3417 well well, some people are slightly obsessed by the word “communist” calling a bunch of machinery (which is basically the car) like this. If you divide even cars into communist and non communist I think you should consider taking some meds…
@@alexanderapostolov2285 I'm adopting the viewpoint of dismissive English aristocrats and why this easily repaired and great bang for the buck, although with a bad ride in the back and a chemical factory smelling interior is judged so unfairly by the Top Gear presenter. My father drove us across the country many times in a Lada in Russia back in the 90's and early 2000's, and it was an okay car, especially for the money.
@@peterl3417 You have to put things into context, when the original Lada`s were introduced here in the mid 70`s, it wasn't that different to most similar saloons of the time, as its design & engineering concept was fairly current, by the time the "updated" Riva was introduced here (about 1984), it was competing with MUCH more modern designs. By the time it was pulled from the UK market, in the mid 90`s, it was wayyyyyy out of date, & so, was sneered at by the masses. That's not surprising, The British traditionally did the same thing many times, keeping old architecture, & just slightly modernising the exterior, which also left us way out of date compared to, say, the Japanese (the last British car to do that was the Rover 100, based on the 1980 Metro, & was sold till 1997). Of course, there will always be people wanting ultra-cheap, easy to repair cars, people would probably still buy Riva`s now, if they were significantly cheaper than the opposition.. In fact, a company has recently started importing Lada Niva`s to the UK, & a few people have purchased them (I`ve seen 2 in London in the last couple of months), but those people are now rare, as most people want something more refined, safer, & want the financial benefits of better emissions etc.
I love when jez talks about those old cars when they were brand new, talking about how nice and beautiful they were, and all the cool new high tech features of cars in the early/mid 90s. Feels wholesome, satisfying and beautifully nostalgic, and to be fair damn do they actually still look good when they're brand new like that. Something majestic about it. Cheers for uploading this!
Had fun w a Lada 1500s back in the late '80s / early '90s. Fun to drive, reliable & easy to work on. Rust eventually won out but had many miles of happy motoring up till then. I remember our old Lada fondly!
A few years ago, here in Australia, my (now ex) inlaws, bought me a brand new Lada Sumara. However, it turned out to be the biggest nightmare I have ever encountered. The Lada was totally unreliable and broke down a lot. Parts were near impossible to find and most mechanics refused to work on it. Even the tyre size was odd. The only thing that seemed to work was the heater and the radio. After a hellish two years, the engine blew up... seized solid. It wasn't worth the effort to fix it and it ended up in a scrap yard
I have a Lada, a Mercedes Benz and a Toyota Corolla. All three have their personalities, of course the best drive is the Mercedes Benz, the Lada is more comfortable than the Corolla but the Lada doesn't turn well in U as the Mercedes or Corolla. Which one I like the best? The Mercedes Benz, which one I like the second? There's a tie between the Lada and the Corolla
I used to love this show as a car mad kid in the 70s and 80s then by the 2000s with Clarkson at the helm it made me wish the internal combustion engine had never been invented
Things end up becoming precisely how they're treated/spoken of. This... specimen (can't bring myself to mention it's name) - *CONSTANTLY* dumping on the car - is bringing the sort of vibes to it that he's directing to it. The car is absolutely fine. Q's _attitude_ on the other hand...
