Y'all are killin me with these videos. I bought the same bike for track days. Every install video i watch i start buying more parts. Lmfao. Its ridiculous
@Brian - Excellent video, getting the components off this bike is super easy, love it. I see you upgraded to stainless brake lines, when you going to upgrade that nasty master cylinder to 19RCS?
Hello great video, but i have a big question can i do this on my gsxr 1000 2001 ? Since there is no way to flash it? What are the pros and cons of doing this ? Thank you for your videos 💯🙏🏼
Yes, you can install block off plates on the 2001 GSX-R1000. This will help reduce back fires on downshifts. As for tuning you would need to find a used Power Commander to install. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Thanks for the reply, Van! I was just concerned about if it had more than just a touch of fuel, that it would leak out after you unplug the fuel line. (I didn't know if the tanks are 'pressurized' or have a one way valve on them that requires pressure to pull fuel) Thanks! Just watched your yosh exhaust install on the same bike, that I'm getting ready to install as well! Great vids!
Kinda unrelated question Brian but what do you make of the 1/4 motion pro t handle? Bought a 3/8 after seeing you use one and it’s now probably my most used and go to tool in the box, dig the weight of that one, spins real easy ect
I just got the Driven block off plates for a 2nd gen Suzuki Hayabusa. Going to go install now that I've watched this incredible video. I would assume that the two bikes are pretty close in design. Please let me know if any changes. Thanks again for the great information
Thank you Sir, you are the best! I am very thankful for your service and appreciate the time that you invest to help others. The world is a better place with people like you who so generously offer your knowledge and time!
I have an 06 gsxr1000 I m putting block off plates on today There was a plug going into it I unhooked it Do I just leave that hang and not plug anything into it Thanks great vid thanks
Where did you purchase the pivoting sockets your using on the end of that Motion Pro t-handle? For something so simple I can never find a good functional set.
Sorry, I'm a little late to the party, but I've got a question...If I'm installing the Driven Block Off Plates on my GSX-R1000K8 (2008), do I also need to install a pair system eliminator (i.e. the HealTech Suzuki GSX-R1000/R 05-20 PAIR System Eliminator)?
I Have a Kawasaki z1000sx from 2014. I have installed full exhuast , KN filter and have run a full remap and dyno so the fuel etc are correct. We landed on 142hp on the wheel and 160hp in engine. But its pops and bangs a LOT when i release the throttle. The guy who did the dyno said block of plates are the way to go if i want to remove these bangs. My question is: is these pops anf bangs bad for your engine? what benefits are there installing these plates? Thank you.
The popping and farting on deceleration will not cause any damage. If you want to make it stop the plates will help that for sure. If you like it then just leave it as is. - Van
any advantage to flashing the ECU along with using a power commander with full exhaust? Or is flashing the ECU just to remove FI light when installing these?
IMO flashing the ECU is the way to go on any of the drive by wire bikes like this GSXR1000R. Most of the current 600-1000's benefit more from an ECU flash than a Power Commander. The flash is able to remove some restrictions the Power Commander can not. - Van
Hey Brian, so I just did the driven block off plates on my 2017 gsxr 1000r and I realized that the oem bolts that you have to reuse are too long for the driven block off plates. The bolts will tighten but will not put enough pressure on the plates. If you tighten the bolts and put your hand on the plates you’ll notice that they are still loose even with the bolts tight. I had to use small washers to complete the install. Not a big deal I just thought you should know so you can check yours.
If the plates are loose you will hear a noise when the bike is running. Did you remover the reeds and reuse the plate they are mounted to under the Driven block off? I will check again when I have the bike apart next but I did not have the same issue when I installed my plates. - Van
Sportbike Track Gear yes I did remove the reeds and reuse the plates. If you look at the plastics pipes that come off they are a lot thicker than the driven block off plates hence why the bolts are too long. No biggie I just figured I tell you so you can check yours.
Dane A No I used washers to make up for the length and was able to get them to snug enough to keep the block off plates tight. And I also have a flash on the ecu that does away with the code you would get when you do away with the pair valve.
Brian great video, just ordered the block off plates yesterday from you. Question to you and the group. I am hearing that using the block off plates/eliminating the pair system cause the L7,8,9's to have idling problems, or idle funny. Anyone that did pair block/eliminate experience these issues? Thanks in advance.
Very helpful. I have the Driven block off plates from yall. My question: The plug we unplugged from the AIS at the location near block off plates: Do I just leave this unplugged? I am going to flash it and should be able to disable this, but wasn't sure if I need to cover it or if I missed something in the video. I understand a healtech resistor can be plugged in to prevent code, but, again, I plan to take care of that via flash. Thanks
@@jdonthes1k497 Yes. sorry I just now saw email notification (filtered). Then when I flashed ECU, I disabled pair valve. I did this for servo exhaust valve motors, etc and just disabled them within the flash (I'm using woolich). This allowed me to completely take that motor and cables off the bike. I believe I just left that unplugged also if I remember correctly. I may have wrapped a little 3m electric tape around the plugs just to keep them somewhat clean, but I don't think it is necessary. I use the 3M because it seems to leave less sticky residue if you ever take it off later for whatever reason, and more so out of habit now for that reason.
Why not add high flo air filter while you are taking off all the restrictive OEM items? Since you have the tank pulled and are inside airbox, seems like a good time to increase airflow.
You only need to install these if you are installing a full exhaust system and running a fuel controller or ECU flash. These allow you to remove the air injection system which will drop a little weight, clean up the engine compartment a bit and allow a tuner to build an accurate map for your bike. - Van
@sportbiketrackgear on my 17 gsxr 1000r i installed the block offs and disabled the PAIR system via flash. On my first ride after I received an FI code C44 for the HO2. Have you seen this happen before? I’m reinstalling the PAIR system now to see if that fixes it. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
I disabled the PAIR with the FTECU flash I put into my bike and did not have any issues. Now I do think it may be possible that if you set the code previous to the flash it may still display the light until the code has been properly cleared. - Van
Sportbike Track Gear thanks for getting back to me. I had done the flash prior to removing the PAIR system. It was while riding about fifteen minutes in that the check engine came on. Tried reflashing with no luck. In the end I reinstalled the PAIR system after going over everything for a couple of days and on that next test ride the code for the HO2 cleared.
Removing the PAIR system will turn the light on. You can install this Healtech Elimintator to keep it off www.sportbiketrackgear.com/healtech-suzuki-gsx-r1000-r-05-19-pair-system-eliminator/ or you can flash the ecu. - Van
Hi, Brian, I've fitted full yosh system + had remap , everything ok but idle is uneven , would removing ais and fitting block off plates help my issue , thanks.
If you have installed a full system on the bike the block off plates should have been installed before you went to the dyno and had a map built. That said this would not have any real affect on the idle of the bike. Did you do an ecu flash tune or install a fuel controller to get the bike mapped? - Van
Hi Brian, I replaced my exhaust Line + délétère the PAIR and the EVAP system and since then I have the same trouble : the idle engine is uneven and too low stalling the engine despite complete reprogramming at Woolich Racing. The richness of the mixture does not solve the trouble. Would you have a solution? (Sorry my english is too bad)
I was wondering, would it be the same if we just plug the hole feeding air to the AIS which is located at the top right side of the Air box? Or we have to remove the AIS? Thanks
I got my ecu flashed and the tuner told me that the AIS system did nothing to to bike other than it make it backfire, if I would I could just clamp the hose or block the hose so no air got through .. that would stop the backfire .. or I could remove the AIS and put block off plates on .. I have chosen to go with the block off plates .. he told me that it didnt make any diffrence so I didnt need a new flash when I removed the AIS system
@@8OneOfTheNobodies8 I see what you are saying, but I have powet commander AutoTune installed so with AIS being active the reading wouldn't be accurate so I need to disabled it.
@@sportbiketrackgear I was nervous about removing my fairings on my 21 GSXR100R, I watched your fairing clip plus this, did K&N air, radiator protection plus PAIR plates and fairings came off and on perfectly. Perfect detail content. Thank you so much!
You can as long as the PAIR system has been disabled it will not turn on the check engine light. Ask the person who flashed the ecu before you do it to be safe. - Van
Double check your work. It sounds to be like the plate may be misaligned and not sealing properly. I have seen this happen in the past on other models. - Van
This modification is entirely unnecessary and has virtually no impact on the bike's performance. Honestly, it's primarily for achieving greater accuracy with a/f ratios during Dyno tuning. If you're just doing a flash, you don’t need these. Even on the Dyno, a good tuner will clamp the hose at the airbox while they tune it. Newer GSXRs idle VERY lopey if you delete the PAIR. Leaving the PAIR usually causes small crackling or even fire spitting during heavy decel after tuning and doesn't affect power. This is what people want these days anyway.
If you are going to get the bike tuned or flash the ecu yourself you should also install the block off plates. While some may think the backfire on decel is cool it is 100% not good for the bike. - Van
