Condolences to the Officer’s family, Vacaville PD, and community 🙏. This suspected DUI driver that struck the officer needs to be prosecuted and sentenced to the maximum possible time. There is no excuse for drinking and driving. Laws and punishments for DUI driving need to get tougher, not softer.

DMV should add a line in their driver’s Ed book. “If possible, do not stop by side of road if pulled over by police. Drive into a parking lot, or onto a side road.”
Very sad but at least his wife & children will be well provided for, unlike so many other regular families that lose their husbands and fathers and suffer extreme, financial hardship.
That's just about the only "benefit" of being a cop. If you can even call it that. Really, it's more of a trade off for all the hate and disrespect they endure as they put their lives on the line to help everyday people -- one of which will likely end up being the reason their kids grow up without them. Doesn't sound like a very good deal to me. May the officer RIP and his family find peace. 🕊
