Driver CPC for buses: part 3 - driving test 

I think regardless of which test is being taken there is always an element of luck with these things.

Wishing good luck to all those taking pcv tests soon. Remedy...relax, just do as you were taught, do not try to impress the examiner by over doing things, take your time and don't rush and you will pass.

Whatever you have learned driving your car, would you please forget about it when taking that test. To me it was like driving a vehicle for the first time.

I'm so glad I did mine 19 years ago if I did mine today I don't think I would pass it good luck to everyone that's going for there test

I'm a HGV1 driver and passed my PCV theory & hazard tests a few days ago. I've been preparing for the PCV test by giving myself mock tests in the lorry. I'm sure driving a PCV is a little bit different but I think I'll only need 1 lesson because I've driven rigid vehicles bigger than that bus. We'll see!

most pcv trainers will use a bright marker on the side of the coach.. if this is used then the reverse is easy as long as you follow their instruction have both pcv and lgv and found pcv more of a challenge but as long as you pay attention its very doable... remember to check your left hand mirror ALL round observation, gl to everyone thinking of doing this.

@northstar1950 Yes. The minimum length for a full coach D test is 10 metres. If you pass you will be able to drive the big long 15 metre coaches including double deckers, neoplan skyliners etc. Like with the car test you must pass in a manual in order to drive a manual or automatic coach. If you did the test in an automatic coach you'd only be allowed to drive automatic coaches. That's one of the biggest problems if you get your PCV licence with stagecoach etc they only do automatics nowadays, which is a problem for drivers who decide after their contract finishes to do coach driving seen as many coach forms still use manuals.

Ive took 2 16 seater minibus test and failed twice. One of the problems is, i think im driving ok, as per my car. However the standard is higher and sadly, although i feel fine to drive it, i dont think ive got it to get past the test so ive decided to pack it, basically due to unaffordability.

Is this a full sized coach? I see a manual box but would a pass give full PCV entitlement?

IF you have a manual C+E licence does that mean I can use an automatic bus and gain the manual licence?

thank god i pass my all of test 40 multi 100 multi case study walk around test than practical test ,,,and the last test was really pain full ,but i done it in second time ,,, now i have full D+D1 ,thank god ,ut i say this is really pain in the ass

I think she was unlucky, Ive got my class 1/2 licences, so easy to make a wrong move, ive just passed both my theory tests for my PCV licence, im hoping to start training at the end of the month, just looking for tips if anyone can help

She's a class 1 lorry driver... it dosnt matter what licence you have its depends on the drive that day..

I would give you old buses Karosa (series 7oo) to training

has made me think a career as a bus driver is actually not worth it, firstly the CPC element just to say "oh look I am a safe driver" and then having to pass another theory test and practical test, lets say I got on with NCT where I live if I fail that is it sorry your out of a job join the dole que so it puts a lot of pressure on to pass this damn thing not saying the money ain't there or the job is not good I would love to do it, it's just repeating everything I have done again for the car test that puts me off

she could have shunt it, go a bit forward and then reverse back to avoid hitting the cones. That would have given her one fault.

This is just a DSA video not a real test. VOSA/DSA would go ballistic if you turned up for the test with a camera on the screen.

This exam is hard in itself and if on top of that you have a friking camera on your face...!

PCV is harder than HGV 2

@badboyrana1 You should learn how to spell and have a little patience. Little mistakes can happen with all the experience in the world. I've seen lorry drivers curb it all the time, it doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing.
