Driver license codes explained

Hi, yes it's basically the same the Code C1: This is for a motor vehicle, a bus, minibus or goods vehicle with a gross vehicle mass between 3 500 kg and 16 000 kg. Code C: This is for a motor vehicle, a bus or a goods vehicle with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 16 000 kg.

Hi, yes if you have a c1 you can drive the b aswell except if you drive a car pulling a caravan then you should have a eb with the c1

hi, Code 8 license allows you to drive all vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of less than 3500kg. These include minis, hatchbacks, sedans, bakkies or vans, SUVs like 4×4, some minibuses and some buses.( if minibus taxi is less than 3500kg ) Code 10 license allows you to drive all vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of more than 3500kg but less than 16000kg. These include minibuses, buses, goods vehicles and all vehicles allowed in code 8 you will need code 10 for minibus taxi unless you use like a venture or a normal car, hope this will help you.

Theoretically yo can drive a taxi but you cannot drive around paying passengers and /or goods because you can't get the PDP permit attached to a code B lisence

​@@kingb2k00i asked the guys here at the traffic dept they say the codes will remain the same like it use to be, the card only will have some changes and more security features so that nobody can clone a card also it's going to be valid for 8 years instead of 5, iff there is changes in the codes it will be only for new drivers that are starting with license

Hi, yes you can

The code EC1(a) driver’s licence is for articulated vehicles with a gross combination mass (GCM) of between 3500 kg and 16 000 kgs and with a trailer of more than 750 kgs. This code also allows you to drive vehicles in categories B, C1, and EB.

Hi, iff you have the code1 learners for motorcycle, yes you can drive the motorcycle butt also it depends iff you are stil letts say 16 or 17 years old then you can only ride a motorcycle up to 125cc butt iff you are 18 you can ride bigger motorcycle also with the learners you can ride butt not have passenger with you, hope it helps

Hi, yes if you have code 3 learners you can use that learners for code8 meaning small car code 10 small truck and code14, also let's say you do code8 with that learners and you passed the licence on it, the learners is still valid for code10 and 14

EB is higher than the B B is a light motor vehicle and you can only draw a trailer up until 750kg EB is also a light motor vehicle but you can have a trailor more than 750kg
