What’s a beauty hidden gem of a railway! I definitely have to come ride this one someday! A narrow gauge railway and rack railway in one? And through a stunning Mediterranean canyon! You have me sold!
Really really enjoyed this while eating my supper, sweet journey through the Gnarly Forests! And those lava-block retaining walls, now there's a labor of love! Thank you so much for this!
I travelled on it many years ago. The train consisted of two coaches with a small power car in the middle, hard seats, and window you could open. Half-way up it passed through a taverna at Mega Spileon, actually between the tables. It is good to see that it is being looked after - it starred in the series "Greta Railway Journeys of the World". Huge fun!
Wonderful. We are back in Greece again in September at Gialova. Pylos. Long drive to the railway but must make the effort. Greetings from Cornwall, UK. Terry.
Like the 1st video, Very nice walk full of sensations and magnificent landscapes, you really have a beautiful country just begging to be visited. You allow a little Frenchman to get away from it all and that feels good ! Merci beaucoup.
@@sidirodromeas It's super nice, but I don't know if I will be able to go there one day (little French guy with little savings). I'm traveling in my head, that's it already ... Thank you for the attention anyway.
I am so happy that you filmed this route both ways. I have watched hundreds of train video's and this one is by far my favourite! With this beautiful and interesting scenery I will be watching this one over and over again.
Thank you Janina :-) It's spectacular and extremely rare to find such living route around the world. Tickets are sold days before if you ever plan to take a trip. My best regards from Greece, Vlasis.
Fantastic line, I have not had such a thrilling ride since the Big Dipper at Blackpool. Some of the adhesion sections seem steeper than some of the rack. thanks for a very pleasant hour.
Dear Sir what a beautiful journey in the Train, one side the big beautiful hills & the other side excellent big trees. Really this vedio has taken me for some moments into heavens, hats of to the vedio operator & I enjoyed it a lot. Very nice vedio & thank you so much. God bless you Regards, Ms. Lakshmi India.
Thank you so much for such a beautiful comment Ms. Lakshimi :-) I am very pleased you enjoyed that much!!! Where do you come from please? My best greetings from Greece 🙂
Video technology is amazing. It's July 7, 2019 and I'm waiting for an oncoming train to pass. As I sit here, I can see a leaf fall - a leaf that fell 121 days ago.
I am impressed by the beauty of this railway and your country as a whole! I am a history teacher and Greece enchants me! A while ago you authorized me to use some images of the railway and if you want to take a look later on my channel as it was! All good for you! Sergio, in Brazil!
@@sidirodromeas , my greek friend, i hope you like Pink Floyd! Thanks for the paradisiacal images! Sergio. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YOalDslcBfE.html
Here in the state of Paraná where I live, we have the Curitiba-Paranaguá railway built at the end of the 19th century and winding monatrans to the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a very difficult engineering work. At the time of construction, the English firm and engineers hired for the project gave up and the Brazilians themselves made the railway! I have a link for you to see, and you can search more on the internet, if you are interested: Curitiba-Paranaguá Railway! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s3g8BJjlmwU.html Sergio, in Brazil
Just gave thumbs up nr. 300. With a reason! "Gorge'ous" ride through unspoiled barren landscape. Hardly a single sign of human existance / civilisation throughout the gorge. And that given Greece is the origin of western civilisation:-) Thanks for posting.
JUST VIEWED PART 2 AFTER WATCHING PART 1 TODAY...WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TRIP...BOTH WAYS!...THOUGH, PART 2 SEEMED MUCH FASTER...I THINK SOMEONE HAD THE PEDAL TO THE METAL?...MUCH BLESSINGS FOR THE NEW YEAR OF 2020...BTW, HOW COULD 606 THUMB-DRAGGERS BE ON BOTH PART 1 & PART 2 TRIPS?...YOU'D THINK THEY'D HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF IT AT THE END OF PART 1, BUT, SOME PEOPLE JUST LIKE TO DRAG ON THEIR MISERY INTO THE NEXT VIDEO...LOL...;)...VANCOUVER, CANADA...;)
Thank you again!!! The main reason why I have uploaded this part (Part 2) is that most of the hikers walk the line downhill and obviously it's a help for them with the time and distances. But, as you say, some people do not appreciate it. Have a Happy New Year my friend :-)
